Is Yabut Kaput? Nope – More rides on the Taxpayer Nickel.

| March 13, 2019

The National Guard soldier who took a military vehicle on a Richmond joyride recently flew to Iraq and researched bombs.

If you haven’t see the video of that Amtrak going down the highway with police cars chasing it O.J. Simpson-style you should treat yourself to that spectacle.

The Virginia National Guardsman accused of stealing an armored military vehicle from Fort Pickett and driving 60 miles to Richmond last year recently took another trip that he should not have made, according to investigators.

Court records obtained by CBS 6 showed that Joshua Yabut was able to fly from Norfolk to Iraq two months ago. The trip violated the conditions of his bond following his June 2018 joyride.

They held him in a mental hospital for two months so they could evaluate him.  He was released in Sept 2018.

It’s not good enough to just conclude if someone is crazy, they have to split more hairs than that and ask “How crazy is he?” and “What brand of crazy is he?”

Let me save the media, the police and the psychological experts some time and money – there are only two kinds of crazy.  One is where you strip down naked, climb up on a rock and howl at the moon.  The other is when you do it in my backyard.

Yabut has discovered the truth that most stolen valor embellishers already know – that putting on a uniform gains you immediate trust and opens doors.

The most amazing thing about this story remains that this dood was able to get an M577 to go 60 miles without it bursting into flames or simply falling into a pile of parts in the middle of the road.

Based on my experience operating one of those piles of flaming crap…

A Proud Infidel®™

A round of ARCOMS for his Unit’s Maintenance Team! As to his further craziness, I wonder what he’ll do next?

Mason

He’ll become a proponent of the Green New Deal. Nothing crazier than that.

cc senor

They must have used Loctite on the sprocket bolts. Harmonics from driving long distances on paved surfaces in Germany caused more than a few of those to part company with the vehicle.

Dustoff

Haha…60 miles in a M577, let’s see ’em try that with a Gamma Goat. He’ll make it just out the motor pool gate before it craps the bed I’ll wager.

“When reached for comment, a spokesman for the United States Air Mobility Command said that they were aware that Yabut had flown out of the Norfolk NAS terminal, but said that no investigation was necessary, because military personnel and their dependents are allowed to fly on Department of Defense planes that have available space.”

Despite what MAC said, why do I feel some heads will still roll with their Chain of Commabnd at Norfolk Naval Station….scary to say the least…

😞

Mason

Not only that but now flying Space A will become a huge bureaucratic nightmare. Do you have three forms of ID? Permission slip signed by your first sergeant, unit commander, and the Pope? Medical clearance within the last 37 minutes?

AnotherPat

It’s been a while since I’ve been on MAC flights…

Out of curiousity, does MAC implement the same standards as Commercial before boarding, i.e. folks go thru XRay or Wand Scanning..

Just wondering how Yaput got thru with an ankle bracelet, unless he took it off prior to boarding (trying to figure that one as well).

Still think heads may roll…or as you stated, Mason, ROE for flying SPACE A may change…

Mason

I never actually flew Space A, but every time I did fly mil air there was no security check. In fact, while we were getting the briefings on not bringing weapons aboard, half the guys were cleaning their nails with their pocket knives.

So far, no one got hurt, right? He’s an idiot. He should run for office. He could probably get more Democrat votes than whats-her-name. Someone should get them together. The pairing might create a useful product, a black hole that could be mined for energy, solving the “energy crisis” permanently.

Some call this ‘therapy.’

Nah, it was a scammer and shut down. Somebody made an easy $2K. I’ll tell you if I ever wanted to go to a life of crime Go Fraud Me would be on the top of my list of places to start.

What is interesting is that the Campaign was STILL OPEN when I posted this around 0945 EST…

Hmmm…think someone got the word out to his Sister about this post…maybe it dawned on her that she did not want folks showing up at her doorstep asking about her Brother’s trip to research bombs..

He was in Court less than a month ago for a couple of minutes for a mental health evalution…shackled…evidently, the Commonwealth probably knew about his trip in January…

His friends say he is a genius and created a couple forms of cryptocurrency.

Maybe he IS a genius and it made perfect sense to steal a military amtrak and drive it down the middle of the highway. Something less feeble-minded people just can’t fathom.

26Limabeans

Next he will show up at a VA Hospital pretending to be a surgeon. They will hire him on the spot.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

Ya but he will attempt to try this stunt again.

Dahell? Go ahead and promote the boy, sounds like a real hard charger. Not only liberated an M577 from secure storage, made it run and stay together at 60 mph, infiltrated a secure transportation facility, flew halfway around the world and ditched an ankle bracelet.

Put together a team of all the posing wanna be SEALs and green ranger sniper recon beret snipers and put him large and in charge. He’d have his self a regular modern day Dirty Dozen.

SFC D

It must be said.

Keepin' It Real

No matter what happens to him now he would have immediate “street cred” in the brig.

They would treat him like a celebrity.

I’ve served with a couple, both of Turkish descent. And one was about as good a Muslim as I was a Mormon, so he doesn’t count.

19D3OR4 - Smitty

Just a clarification.

That is an M1068A3 Command Post Vehicle (modern variant of the M577)

An Amtrack is an AAV-7P used for amphibious assaults by the USMC.

They are nowhere close to being the same.

Amtrack = Amphibious Tractor. WW2 term.

No. It isn’t.
