David Gordon Jeffrey; Private Star-borne is a phony Ranger wannabe

| February 27, 2019

The wonderfully talented and brilliant folks at militaryphony.com send us their case on David Gordon Jeffrey Jr.  David is 72 years old as of February 2019.

David Gordon Jeffrey Jr.

David has a biography posted on Prabook that claims that he was awarded a Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. It also claims he was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Airborne Rangers from 1967-1969.

On his LinkedIn account, it says that he was in the Army from June 1968 to July 1974 – six (6) years and two (2) months. It also claims the rank of Captain along with being an Intel Officer whose duties are classified.

Here is where it gets interesting. He posted a photo on his Facebook account and said it was him 45 years ago. Since it was posted a year ago that would make the photo from 1973, give or take.

Photo posted by David Jeffrey to his Facebook account

There is a strong implication that this is him in his younger days. He never corrected anyone when they also drew this inference. David posted the same photo on another account stating that he was proud to serve. Again, an implication this was him.

Then he posted another one claiming it was from 1980, just 7 years after the above photo.

One of our research ninjas pulled up this photo of Kris Kristofferson (actor and singer) and it looked really similar — except for the head, rank and Airborne patch.

Kris Kristofferson Army Photo

Here are the photos side-by-side for comparison… (click to get larger size)

Kris Kristofferson and David Jeffrey Photos Side-by-Side for Comparison

When we discovered that David’s son James does not show a record of military service – the question arose as to why it appears as if he would dress in an Army Ranger fatigue uniform – or more probably allow himself to be Photoshopped in an Army uniform? We don’t know if he was a willing participant but the beret looks authentic as it rests on his head… meaning not Photoshopped. Who knows, maybe he is just a dead ringer for the old man at that age.

Here is a photo of David (father) and James (son)…

David Gordon Jeffrey’s military records were ordered through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

FOIA RESULTS

NATIONAL PERSONNEL RECORDS CENTER – NPRC

FOIA Results for David Jeffrey – Summary Sheet

David Jeffrey’s summary sheet shows no active duty service. He was discharged from an ROTC program as a Private, the lowest enlisted rank one could have in the Army. It may have been due to not fulfilling his obligation to drill or perhaps he wanted out and that is normal for a discharge?

It could have something to do with all the anti-war stuff he was publishing at the time.

You really need to visit the militaryphony site to get a whole lot more on this clown’s background.

There are many issues with the photos of young David, civilians might think they are real pictures of him from back in the day.  We are here to help clear all that up for Mr. Jeffrey.

Since somebody likes to photoshop pictures of Kris Kristofferson I thought what the hell, maybe this one will fit in nicely to the phony collection of pictures.

According to some of the stuff posted online, David Gordon Jeffrey is also a man of God.  A minister of some kind.  I think its best to quote Kris Kristofferson at this point:

See him wasted on the sidewalk in his jacket and his jeans,
Wearin’ yesterday’s misfortunes like a smile
Once he had a future full of money, love, and dreams,
Which he spent like they was goin’ outta style
And he keeps right on a’changin’ for the better or the worse,
Searchin’ for a shrine he’s never found
Never knowin’ if believin’ is a blessin’ or a curse,
Or if the goin’ up was worth the comin’ down
He’s a poet, he’s a picker
He’s a prophet, he’s a pusher
He’s a pilgrim and a preacher, and a problem when he’s stoned
He’s a walkin’ contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction,
Takin’ ev’ry wrong direction on his lonely way back home.

I understand that he has been a member of the American Legion Cesar E. Chavez Post 505 in San Francisco, CA for some time now.  We have no idea if they are aware of his nonsense.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Is Sparks back to his ole’ tricks combing through 10’s of thousands of photos like he did with Bernath?

Oh, and Bernath is still dead.

Ex-PH2

Gee, all that ‘shopping skill gone to waste on Vanity.

What else does he do? Steal work that other people have done and claim it’s his? Nothing would surprise me less.

26Limabeans

The man is of Bernathian character.
Does he fly?

Instinct

His photoshopping skills are better, but that a damn low bar to hurdle

Doc Savage

So….that was him in the pic 45 years ago?
In modern multicam uniform with a combat action badge that was authorized after sept 2001?

Yup…legit.

Ret_25X

You didn’t know? The Rangers have always been time travelling agents of Dimension X!

Wait…that might have been the Buckaroo Banzai Regiment…I always get them confused…

Does Brucie’s Bath House have a “ranger” unit?

crucible

Yep-the photoshops are getting better. But they are still shops, still obvious, and still just as odious.

MI Ranger

He needs to work on his hues, and lighting, they face just stands out from an otherwise dull photo. I think he found the Company Command Photo of a CPT Jeffey, and decided to ‘shop his sons photo onto it as a lark. The Christofferson replica is a equally off, with the hughes on the face, not matching the rest of the phot. The name tag obviously legible when the rest of the photo is not… oh, and the current 101st Patch, instead of the one from Vietnam. His Linked-In timelines were so confusing, it screams fake, he was somehow in the Army, and getting his MBA at the same time, while working at several businesses…what was he a non-deployed Reservist getting his degree while everyone was off at war.

Cobrakai99

A man ahead of his times. OCPs in 1973, almost 40 years before the DoD adopted them.

UpNorth

He’s a time traveler, he jumped forward, grabbed his OCPs and traveled back, showing everyone what the uniform of the future was.

I’ve always been a fan of Kris Kristofferson one of the greatest songwriters in American music history. “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down,” “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Help Me Make It Through The Night,” and “For The Good Times” are my favorites.

Kristofferson earned a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University where he received a B.Phil degree in English literature. Kris served with the 8ID in West Germany as a helicopter pilot attaining the rank of captain. His father was a retired USAF major general.

Robert Gordon Jeffrey is a shitbag, pussified, dress-up queen, and ROTC reject.

rgr1480

I heard that he said on a late night talk show that Ranger School was the hardest thing he’s done; all I could find was this direct quote from him:

At what point did you think, ‘This is scarier than jumping out of an airplane?’ Which I know you did many times in the Army.

They’re very similar! Commit yourself, you know? And it’s an exhilarating experience. But you’re more in control on stage than you are going out of an airplane. I’m not ever gonna leave myself quite that open!

Did learning how to march around all day and stay up all night help you as a touring musician?
Nothing was harder than Ranger school! In my life! Ever! We’d average about two and a half hours of sleep a night in the mountains and the swamps. It’s all been a walk in the park since then!

I wish Kristofferson would write a song about this. No doubt it would be great.

David Gordon Jeffery. Been rocking your lie a long time, haven’t you?

My bad, 10 months as a private can relate to being a sooper seekrit squiireeel CPT in the Airborne Ranger undercover Military Classified Intelligence Agent Man. Were your reeeel records lost in the fire, or did Gerald Ford hisself seal them up after Dick Nixon lost them along with the 18 minutes worth of audio tape?

Oh, and BTW; God don’t like people lying about being preachers neither. Good luck with that when you see Him.

Daisy Cutter

As the expression goes… “Google is your friend” and “Photoshop is your friend.”

In this case, I think not.

Is this poser wearing a 5th SFG(A) flash on his beret?

MI Ranger

Where is he wearing a beret?

My mistake…you mean the CPT at Fort Campbell that he photo shopped his sons face on… Could be? Not sure why they would have the 101st Patch on though. (error either way) Weren’t the LRSD units deactivated? Not many red berets running around Campbell in the days of ACUs

Jay

That is some of the worst photoshopping skills I have ever seen….and I’ve seen some bad ones. Multicam in the 70s? He’s dumber than shit and so are his friends.

Instinct

Still better than Birdbath’s.

That’s not saying much, but there it is

Ret_25X

I’m sure no one he knows or associates with has ever been within a 10 foot pole radius of an actual soldier.

Outcast

Hmmm, Sept 1967, stolen valor, many other statements of glory, date of entry means 1 of many in service of lower IQ. With all bravado he spouts they must have gotten this one near the bottom of IQ ladder. Be nice if this trash would go elsewhere, as it is getting crowded in DVA qualified moron Division.

NHSparky

Beware false prophets.

But he could put down that he was the inspiration for Universal Soldier…or the SEGA Time Soldiers game. Either works.

John Wright

All,

Quite a few of the frauds have probably connived the VA out of a lot of $.

Maybe the VA should set up a Tiger Team to compile lists of fraudsters identified in various netsites and compare the list to recipients of VA benefits.

Then the VA should publicize to the media the list of those investigated (without disclosing whether the indivs receive benefits, “legalities” and all that).

And then investigate and pursue with vengeance.

I am furious about the situation, having contact in the past with a fraud (Ray Nash).

Just by coincidence, a co-worker at Scott AFB knew the Nash family. The subject came up because they were from the same small central Illinois town. Co-worker stated that everyone knew Nash was “strange”.

These assholes just love to impress the typical WWII Joes (now in short supply). I know that my Dad would not have been able to detect these frauds’ BS. He, as many others of that era, trusted people.

Gettin’ ulcers over this

John

Ret_25X

Scott AFB area is home to many weird and strange types.

I will admit though, it was a great assignment to be in the Army but stationed at Scott AFB–or as we called it–Fort Scott…LOL

John Wright

Ret 25X,

Guess that you are a Comm or Cyber type. You are correct. I live in Mascoutah, met my spouse in Warren MI Tank Plant, fell in love with a girl from Southern Illinois. Not too weird in Mascoutah, except everyone is related to each other. I worked in USTC-AQ

MBA Wake Forest 1971. Cool story Bro.

From Wiki:
“The Wake Forest University School of Business was formerly the Babcock Graduate School of Management and the Calloway School of Business and Accountancy. Established in 1969, the Babcock School admitted its first classes of full-time and executive students in 1971 and presented its first graduating class in 1973. The Babcock School was established with a gift from the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation and named in honor of Charles H. Babcock, a noted businessman and philanthropist who influenced civic, cultural and business development in Winston-Salem and North Carolina.”

Daisy Cutter

Based on his timeline, he must have been doing correspondence courses from Vietnam.

When others were taking their liberty in Dogpatch, young David would pull out his course materials and work on them with a tactical flashlight clamped in his teeth.

Ret_25X

and sending them forward in time as well…

this is how he got the OCP uniform and CAB…

He is actually Duck Dodgers of the 23rd and a half century!

Wow, Bernathian Photoshopping along with leaving the Service as a PVT after less than a year. I wonder if he’ll start barking that he’ll lawer up?

“David is 72 years old as of February 2019.”

2019 minus 72 equals 1947 (birth year).

If he graduated from Furman University in 1967, 1963 would have been the year he entered college.

1963 minus 1947 equals 16 (age at which he entered college).

As stated by the talented and brilliant folks at Military Phonies, this guy’s timeline is problematic, indeed.

It almost makes me want to verify that he did, in fact, receive a bachelor’s degree and an MBA.

//heavy Chevy’s long last dad?

Don’t forget his Doctoral degree in Divinity or whatever the right Reverend is claiming.

I got a Doctor of Divinity Degree and ordained on the interwebz for a small sum that IMO didn’t detract at all from the comedic value of the process.

* Believe he graduated Easley HS in 1964-1965
* Went to Erskine College from 1965-1967
* Believe he transferred to Furman University for 1967-1968
* No photo of him in the 1968 Furman University yearbook, however.

JimG

He supposedly received his Doctorate at the University of Michigan. According to his LinkedIn account he is a Doctor of Philosophy, PhD field of study Clinical Psychology, Grade 4.00, Gerontology based Clinical Psychologist. — U of M could find nothing on the guy.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

What’s with the plaid skirt and fur purse?

Be proud you’re an American, men here don’t wear skirts. You wanna be Scottish go back to Scotland and wear your fucking skirt…

I’m so tired of all these hyphenated Americans who don’t assimilate.

Keepin' It Real

My imperfect analysis of this situation:

1) He joined ROTC as a means to pay for college
2) Got cold feet as the Vietnam War was ramping up, anticipating he would go once he graduated
3) Sabotaged his ROTC career
4) Spouted anti-war rhetoric after he was kicked out of ROTC (perhaps even before)
5) Later in life, when he had to “splain” hisself, and being in the military was becoming a cool thing, plus now being out of danger, he became a warrior in his younger days, promoting himself along the way.
6) All of this happened before the “internets” so it is all catching up to him so he throws stuff out like rice at a wedding
7) Hope is a strategy, so his story will evolve as people ask him about specifics – it all will become more classified and secret squirrel

And there you have it… the life in a nutshell for a man with four first names – David Gordon Jeffrey Junior

SGT Fon

he really must have been a secret squirrel to have been issued multicam in 1968! i say he is legit…

Daisy Cutter

Wasn’t Furman University the one on “Animal House?”

Comm Center Rat

If it was, Dean Wormer should’ve put this poser on “double secret probation.”

IDC SARC

Close, it was Faber College.

What got my attention is that in the first camo pic the tip of his nose tilts a bit to his right. Then in the Class A pic it appears to t\ilt to his left. Almost like two pics of similar looking men more than the same guy. Must be an optical illusion.

He’s a man of God! He’s a Doctor! He’s a War Hero!! He sells insurance!!

This is one dedicated and committed turd.

A lot of effort in this.

Basically if they would have invested even half of the time and effort they spend in building these fake personas into doing something constructive with their lives, they would have no need to make shit up!

It’s like this guy wants to be discovered as a fraud and liar.

Mr. Jeffrey: If you are going to doctor your Class A photo, you could at least photoshop your Unit Crest next to that poor image of your railroad tracks…

I believe that in 1968 Velcro was only used by NASA. It didn’t hit the civilian market until the mid to late seventies.

I had a velcro strap, about 8 inches long, that I used in place of a rubber tourniquet. I got it about 73-74. I still have it. Was the best possible way to expose a vein for injection of radioactive material.
