1stCavRVN11B sent me a slew of pictures from the Lafayette, LA (Bobby Jindall country) Tea Party yesterday so I picked out some of the best signs and put them here;

Our side has much better signs and slogans. There are more pictures at my Flickr Photostream. And I’ll be adding some more later (I said he sent me a slew of pictures).

1stCavRVN11b also sent this article about the event;

A crowd of U.S. taxpayers, estimated at 400-500, gathered at Lafayette’s Memorial Park today to protest and show their disgust and anger at the astronomical amount of money being wasted by the U.S. government who has indicated that it will be the U.S. taxpayer to fund it all. Though the main theme of the protest was the extreme amount of ‘Pork’ being bought by the government and the subsequent increase in taxes, there were many other sentiments expressed against the current administration and the nations congressional and senate leaders for legislating and supporting the expensive bills.

It was a beautiful day and people were really enthusiastic that something, even though only symbolic, was being done. They were eager to hear the speeches and be a part of the re-creation of one of history’s most profound demonstrations: The Boston Tea Party of 1773. the crowd cheered as the ‘Tea” was thrown in the lake. In unison, the crowd shouted ‘USA! USA’ until the rally was over. Several attendees stayed and talked in small groups and several protesters continued to wave their signs and shout at motorists who passed by the park.

More demonstrations, gatherings and meetings are expected in the future and are aimed at stopping the financial bleeding and Socialistic direction the country is apparently headed for. One attendee pointed out this fact: “There was not one single piece of trash left on the ground when it was all over” alluding to the filthy garbage littered streets of Washington, D.C. left by his supporters after President Barack Obama’s inauguration in January of this year.

Our buddy Coby at The Dillard Doctrine reminds us that Hampton Roads’ Tea party is April 15th. Michelle Malkin has more pictures from across the country and some of the dates and places of upcoming Tea Party events. Gateway Pundit has pictures and a report from Fullerton, CA. Skye has pictures of the doin’s in West Chester, PA at Midnight Blue and Flopping Aces.

I attended the Lafayette Tea Party and left pretty dang impressed. Adam, 1stCAV and the Lafayette crew did excellent. Arriving early to stand along the street with Harry, it was pretty amazing watching the crowd growing in numbers by start time.

Hey Sweep. Pictures are flowing that show you and The Colonel.

Well done.

Frankly Opinionated

Having lived in Lafayette for a little over 3 years, I know the Cajuns there to be very concerned about “their” country, and this is no surprise. You Go AMERICA!

The turnout was great. Estimeates are between 400-600. Many people were coming long after it was over. Most of them were just hearing about it by word of mouth. And so many expressed how they had been hoping and praying somebody would organize something. The crowd was fired up. A couple of known leftist/pacifist even showed at first, but didn’t see them after the crowd started to rapidly grow. I do think they tucked tail and ran home bewildered. Still laughing at them. So here’s to you Vic the pacifist and as you told, a Dec 7, 1941 USS Arizona survivor. At least you showed up.

We did pass a good time, Cher.

I cannot attend the tea party on 4-15 but I want everyone to know how much I support this effort. It doesnt matter name calling, insults, are labels that are thrown at you. This is the only way for citizens to get the attention of a congress that no longer believes it has to answer to the American voter. The arrogance in Wash. DC has left me with no one to represent me. I am a registered Democrat for 42 years and I have had enough.I want your critics to know that this protest is not just white baby boomer right wing nuts. Us middle of the road believe in the constitution and the will of the people. Congress answers to us not the other way around. Put my name down please. Cheers to all of you and lots of tea.

I can’t belive the number of articles that are saying TEA PARTY supporters are a minority. Who in thier right mind wants to give up over half of thier earnings to the tax man? I am sure if a poll question was phrase for that we all could come up with the answer.

Cindy

Thank our Veterans and our Troops for protecting our right to protest. Please visit AnySoldier.com, a website where you can send a card or letter with encouraging words to Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, Sailors and/or Coast Guardsmen who are sacrificing so much for our freedom.

Merci beaucoup,
