President Trump Calls out ‘Da Nang Dick” Again

| January 29, 2019

President Trump called out Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) on Monday evening.

President Trump attacked Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., on Twitter Monday night, mockingly referring to him as “Da Nang Dick” and questioning his fitness to serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee in the wake of decade-old allegations of stolen valor related to Blumenthal’s false claim that he fought in the Vietnam War.

“How does Da Nang Dick (Blumenthal) serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee when he defrauded the American people about his so called War Hero status in Vietnam, only to later admit, with tears pouring down his face, that he was never in Vietnam,” wrote Trump, who added that Blumenthal was, “An embarrassment to our Country!”

Blumenthal frequently claimed Vietnam service when he was the Connecticut attorney general in the 2000s.  Later, he changed his statements to “Vietnam era.”

Blumenthal apologized in 2010 for misrepresenting his service. He was quoted as saying to reporters: “On a few occasions I have misspoken about my service and I regret that, and I will take full responsibility.”

When people do this it should be treated more seriously than an accidental burp followed with a quick “Pardon me, my bad.”

This should prove interesting if it stays in the news for a while.

Da Nang DICK LOL

Comm Center Rat

Rumor has it Dickie Blue was known as SERGEANT FURY during jungle warfare operations in Vietnam. Or maybe that was his nickname in his USMCR units in Washington DC and Connecticut. Those “Vietnam times” are hard to remember without a DD214 in hand.

USMC Steve

Blumenthal “apologized” for lying when he got caught and caught some heat for it. I have no doubt he did not mean it, and that he did it only to appear sorry for lying. Sociopaths are very good at mimicking the emotions and feelings of real people.

But then, Trump should know better than to scold a congressional socialist democrat when they do such things. Rules and such are not applicable to them.

RetiredDevilDoc8404

Sad day when Lurch Kerry is more legit than someone (he actually served in Vietnam unlike Da Nang Dick). FFS, even Hanoi Jane has more time in Vietnam than him and the reefer mech/recon ranger combined. Sorry, little dick you are ethically unqualified to clean up after the elephants in a circus parade let alone be a US Senator.

rgr1480

Kerry also had more time on the ground in RVN than Bernath.

DaNangDick’s legacy in Connecticut has come home to roost. The capitol is insolvent, industry is fleeing and Wesleyan university is now a temple of depravity.

Wasn’t there another story about DaNangDick having claimed to be the captain of a swim team at Harvard?

A sifty son of a bitch amongst the riffraff.

Connecticut is akin to a dumpster fire of rabid howler monkeys, so he is the representative we deserve.

Hartford used to be a nice working class town. Also home to major insurance companies.
Nice farmland north of there up to the Massachusetts border. Tobacco.

I pulled in about $49k last year, give or take.
That *should* put me pretty square in the middle class according to various websites.
After taxes and the high cost of living I’m left with zero savings and little to chuck at the retirement fund.
Add to this and the fact they’d like to reach deeper into my pocket via sales tax on groceries and road tolls, increases on power generation rates because no one in their right mind will build a power plant here…
The AVERAGE income of those leaving: $150k.
Screwed, this place is.
I will not be without a seat WHEN the music stops.

I recall when Hartford was a decent place, as far back as the late 60s, anyway. These days, I continue on the Mass Pike to the NY State line and cut Connecticut completely out of the loop. Besides, the Taconic Parkway is beautiful, anytime of the year.

As you note, The Hartford is reportedly no longer operating from Hartford.

I heard Da Nang Dick demanded a Purple Heart when he received a paper cut while wrapping toys for the 1970 National Toys for Tots Campaign…///

I have heard those stories and jokes about incurable VD’s for years. What Da Nang Dickie has may be incurable, but those incurable VD claims are likely just another urban myth. The only VD I ever hear about in the Viet of Nam was the applause (clap). My company medic loved to give the penicillin shots to the guys that caught it; he said he deliberately didn’t completely mix the penicillin compound with saline so that it left a large painful lump in their asses.

rgr1480

Wasn’t it supposed to be injected in the left nut with a square needle?

rgr769

I am sure my medic, ol’ “Doc,” would have preferred that technique, if authorized. He had a dim view of anyone getting VD, especially since there were places for R&R like Taiwan and Australia where infection was almost non-existent.

I was a year at Hansen on Okinawa, 1970-1971. Every week we expected several Marines to come in with the drip, saying they could bend plumbing while pissing it hurt so much. The Grunts were on restriction until they gave a clear UA. A few guys were permanently restricted to base b/c they got gonorrhea several times … too many times for their CO.

“False in one thing, false in everything, meaning in jury instructions, that we — some of us, as prosecutors, have heard many times, is told a jury that they can disbelieve a witness if they find them to be false in one thing. So, the core of why we’re here today really is credibility. Let me talk —“ Lil Dick Blumenthal questioning then-Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh.

Blumenthal is a liar. He obtained five deferments to avoid service during the Vietnam Era before securing a stateside position with the Marine Reserves. He made the calls and chose the safe path. The difference between him and others who did so is that he later claimed to be a Vietnam Veteran. Later still, after somewhat admitting that he lied (There was video. He couldn’t say otherwise.) he then had the audacity to challenge Kavanaugh’s credibility with that cute bit of Latin,”Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus.” Swamp denizens do such things and then feign umbrage when taken to task.

rgr769

That is sorta like what a certain Injun did to likely avoid the evil white man’s draft—join the Marine Corps Reserves, then tell tall tales about his “Vietnam times.” Though our Injun didn’t get any deferments cuz he didn’t need them since he joined the Reserves before he could be subject to the draft.

Mason

Any politician questioning someone else’s integrity should immediately be subject to scaphism. They all lie.

Thunderstixx

I tell people I am completely non-partisan…
I hate every last one of them…
And that does NOT put me in the middle on anything…

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Okay so this is maybe where I go off the rails a little bit.

Does no one find it somewhat ironic that a silver spoon in his mouth rich boy who got five deferments and then when the last of those expires manages to be declared unfit for service is calling out someone else for their lies about service?

It makes his comments about how he’d have made a great general somewhat ludicrous…

OWB

Not sure about there being any irony there, but yeah, it seems a bit goofy.

That said, only one of them is lying about what they did then. A guy who is not lying calling out a guy who is lying is fine by me. Had Bloomie not made such as ass of himself about the lying thing, it would not be necessary for the prez to once again point out his hypocrisy and his lies.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

I can’t stand Blumenthal, I perhaps should have made that clear. I just find it odd how much Trump talks about what a great soldier/general etc…he might have been.

Trump and Blumie are both deferment kings, one did serve and lied about his service the other had a convenient 4F physical.

Neither of them holds much high ground regarding their honesty.

IDC SARC

“I just find it odd how much Trump talks about what a great soldier/general etc…he might have been.”

I too cringe when he says such things. After seeing him speaking often though, I’m fairly certain he does say those things intentionally for effect.

timactual

” After seeing him speaking often though…”

That’s the secret–watch, don’t listen. Much easier to keep your dinner down.

My, My, My

No, not at all.

IDC SARC

“Does no one find it somewhat ironic”

You’ve seen his medical records? I haven’t, so I dunno whether there was anything dishonest about his fit for duty status.

Some people are in fact unfit and bone spurs (Osteophytes), can definitely do it. They can get you kicked out, so yes, they can preclude service.

2/17 Air Cav

My take is the same as OWB’s. The issue is not the deferments but the lying about the service. No, I see no irony. Had Trump taken Lil Dicky to task for the deferments, I’d be there. The lying is the thing. The irony I found was in Lil Dicky’s pretense at the Kavanaugh hearing.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Right I should have stated does anyone find it ironic that the liar in chief is calling out the liar in the senate…

That would have been more accurate. Trump lies about some small thing all the time, and when he’s making political points he lies about some big things.

I’m not defending Blumenthal who’s a well know turd, but this is what I mean when you see one side acting as though the lies of the other side are grievous while their own lies are swept under the rug daily.

2/17 Air Cav

There are lies, exaggerations, and stuff that people assert as true w/o a factual basis for doing so. I’m not sure how Trump’s statements get categorized and I’m not going to try. But I will say this. All politicians, including Trump, lie to the public. It’s Lil Dicky’s particular lie regarding serving in Vietnam that is special, at least to Veterans.

timactual

“their own lies are swept under the rug daily.”

Surely you are not speaking of Trump, here. His lies and exaggerations are trumpeted (heh) by the media daily.

Perry Gaskill

There might be an element of irony but it doesn’t mean Trump is incorrect. The apparent news hook is that Blumenthal is slated to serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee after a teary-eyed public confession as a liar. What’s also true is that although Trump did get five deferments and had bone spurs, he’s never claimed service in RVN.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Which is not to suggest Trump isn’t a regular liar Perry, he hasn’t lied about his service but that might be one of the few things he hasn’t lied about.

His famous claim about being against the current GWOT before it took place is a lie. His only real concern before the war was the impact the war would have on the sale of nearly half a billion in junk grade bonds.

His only comment about the Invasion prior to it taking place is a half assed comment on the Stern show when asked if he was for the war he said, “Yeah I guess so, it should have been done right the last time”….

The support for Trump simply reinforces my notion that each side ignores the liars in their own house while openly calling out the liars on the other side.

I understand how the game is played, which is why it’s ironic for me to see it play out in real time every day.

Perry Gaskill

Dunno, VOV. While I’d agree Trump has been known to tell a few whoppers, they usually seem to amount to hyperbole and faulty metaphor. Sometimes it’s clear he’s also conveying not-strictly-accurate facts others have told him. Too, part of the problem might be due to the truncated nature of Twitter as a medium.

Where I sometimes have a problem is when the news media goes full pedantic to score political points. Trump might tweet, for example, that he just saw the coolest Golden Retriever ever in history crossing a street near the courthouse, and the news media will go into a stop-the-presses frenzy because it was actually a Yellow Lab crossing an avenue near a public administration building.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

“Crime in Germany is way up”

“We got 6 billion for opioid addiction and deaths are way down”

“We have thousands of immigration judges”

“We essentially repealed Obamacare because we got rid of the individual mandate … and that was a primary source of funding of Obamacare.”

“The murder rate in our country is the highest it’s been in 47 years.”

Hyperbole indeed and each comment completely wrong…

He tells so many wrong things every day it’s hard to keep track.

Don’t misunderstand my point here, I still back the president’s results with the economy and the nation.

I just can’t pretend he’s a bold warrior of truth.

rgr769

So are you telling us crime in Germany is not way up since they imported or permitted hundreds of thousands of third worlders and West hating muslims into the country, or are you just using the stats from the German authorities that ignore all those rapes and attempted rapes? Got any stats on how many immigration judges there are? Whatever the number it is not enough. Got any numbers on how may 0bamacare enrollees dropped their insurance since they can’t be fined? I think you are on the slippery slope down to Orange Man Bad territory.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

400 Immigration judges, German crime is at an historic 37 year low, opioid deaths are up according to Trump’s own government the funding for Obamacare didn’t come from the mandate, the mandate paid less than 5% of the cost, the FBI numbers indicate US Murders are down.

Everyone of those comments by Trump were wrong, whether knowingly or unknowingly.

Don’t mistake criticism of what’s true for joining the Democrats and the liberals, that’s how they get all turned around they conflate honest criticism with an attack. They are not at all the same thing.

It’s important to remember the lesser of two evils isn’t a good and a liar yesterday is usually still a liar today whether you like his politics or not.

I think I’ve posted some fairly favorable threads in the last couple of weeks for the president and his policies. It doesn’t mean I’ll give him a free pass for countless errors of honesty.

rgr769

Well if they are unknowingly wrong, then they are not lies. And I, like most of us here, are more interested in what Trump does that benefits the nation, not what he says.

Mason

Which is in contrast to most politicians, where it’s pay attention to what they say (empty promises, bold faced lies) and not what they do.

OWB

Just don’t believe I am alone in this: I do not like liars at all and I don’t care who they are. Doesn’t matter to me if they are politicians, clergy, or my next door neighbor. No need to lie.

No, I am not Pollyanna. I understand that putting your best face forward, omitting/forgetting certain details sometimes, and such are often necessary to keep from taking 24 hours to tell a 20 minute story. And honesty doesn’t need to be brutal.

Lying just isn’t OK. Liars can’t be trusted. Nothing wrong with responding to the question, “Honey, do these pants make my butt look fat?” with a loving, “No.” There is no need to add, “It’s the extra 30 pounds riding back there that makes your butt look fat.” You know that you are technically being honest because it is not the pants. (OK, I never got the asking of such a question in the first place and wonder if it’s an urban myth.)

5th/77th FA

dTrumpster used a medical condition to avoid service and student deferments. Big f’ing deal. Buncha people did the same. dTrumpster never lied or hid what he did. My draft notice showed up at the house while I was in Basic. I had to report to the CO so he could verify to the draft board that I was there.

Da Nang Dickhead is a lying embellishing piece of shit scumbag congress critter who became a valor thief standing in the blood and on the bodies of men and women way yonder better than he would ever be. Since then he has sucked up the sugar teat of the public trough and become part of the problem of what the crooked career politician has done to this country. He is one of the sons of bitches who should fill a hundred ditches when they die.

It is no surprise that the socialist demon cats from that part of the country keep sending a lying piece of shit back to congress. After all, just up the road from there, they kept sending a murderer back into high office. Almost made the murderer President.

My deepest sympathies to my Brothers and Sisters who are stuck up there. If you get a chance to leave….Welcome South.

Please, tell us what you REALLY think. Don’t be so reticent.

“he’s never claimed service in RVN”
Point , set, match.

akpual

Yep

rgr769

Uh, Trump never claimed he was a Vietnam combat vet, yet having only served in the District of Criminals and working on the Marine’s Toys for Tots campaign.

Perry Gaskill

I can understand how Toys for Tots might be considered risky. Get yourself ambushed by a rug rat cadre with teddy bears and Barbies, and you’re lucky to walk away from it. If you’re captured alive, they torture you with Furbys and old re-runs of Sponge Bob and Barney…

Cameron Kingsley

Hey, the old Spongebob was actually good until the seasons after the movie where the quality slowly began degrading. Barney on the other hand…

Andrew

It’s more honorable to dodge the draft than it is to claim Vietnam veteran status when you were just dicking around stateside during the war.

Sheesh…..
