Midweek Open Thread

| November 28, 2018

Happy Hump Day TAH! We’re already in the middle of the first workweek after Thanksgiving, and November is almost over. Here is a sample of what some on the left are thinking:

Go ahead and say it, Nancy Pelosi is the “best thing” since sliced bread:

I’m just appalled that over a dozen members of the House are vowing not to support Nancy Pelosi for speaker this January. She’s had a number of against the odds legislative successes as opposition leader, and when she was speaker before she ran a fair House.

President Trump’s goose is cooked:

This is why Trump is looking like a sick puppy these days. He will not always be President and jail time is looking more and more possible for him and his corrupt family or at least they will go bankrupt in defending themselves.

Jim Crow is still kicking, President Trump is “proof”. Oh yeah, the Republican Party “rigged” the election and “stole” a bunch of votes this year. We simply “don’t get it”. No mention of how Democrats enabled Jim Crow laws and kept them kicking…

If you don’t know what Jim Crow is, Google it. Learn about your country.

I wish everyone understood how we got here and why an ignorant, mentally deficient bigot/buffoon is occupying the White House. But too many people don’t/won’t “get it.” Or don’t want to. Or never will.

Sigh, we never learn. The steamrolling of election 2018 should have forced us to realize that people want change:

They just got steamrolled in the election. It is painfully obvious that most Americans hate what is going on and are demanding changes.

But the Repubs just keep on with the same old schtick. They haven’t changed at all. And Trump just keeps making the same mistakes over and over and over.

I would think they would have gotten the big picture after such a bruising. Guess not.

In response to that, someone posted as if they read the pages of the Liberal Zombie Manifesto:

originally posted by RKP5637:

IMO they are basically ignorant, bullies and love hatred. The GOP is a disgusting lot. I really can’t imagine people wanting to be part of the GOP unless they are ignorant, racists and hateful people and/or religious wackos.

First, or second.

I really can’t understand how half the American people want us to be a poor country.

Why can’t they see through the global climate change-warming-cooling conspiracy to make America weaker?

Why can’t they see the erosion of our liberties and the disastrous consequences of collectivism, of any variant, wherever and whenever it has been tried?

It just doesn’t make any sense.

Aysel

emotional decision makers, they have a hard time incorporating hard logic into their decision making process.

Graybeard

Lars would be glad to pontificate on this.

Sparks

Slow Joe you made a great point. I think part of the answer is we have so many on the Federal and State dole that they will never avail themselves of job opportunities.

If it were up to me, we would stop welfare in all forms and reinitiate the CCC and CWA and tell people the jobs are there and if you want to eat, you work. Put them to work improving the country as a whole and their communities in particular. They don’t want to live in ghettos? Great, you get paid for cleaning, painting and any work we can put you to and you get paid. If not, the bread lines will be long.

But then again, my views obviously make me a hardcore, conservative racist. Because I am wanting people to work, gain self-respect and the truth of working harder for a better life instead of sitting on their hands and complaining for more, more more.

I have always said, we need to change who is allowed to vote. That definitely puts in the shit house for believing that if someone is living off my money in any form, then they forfeit their vote.

Mason

Guilt. Because they grew up in a country where they didn’t have to suffer for anything. If they never had to worry about food, housing, heat, clean water, etc. then they feel guilty having when so many else suffer.

They’d prefer to spit on the sacrifices of their ancestors that gave them a life without worrying about dying from dysentery. They’d prefer to curse their children and grandchildren to repeat those sacrifices by dragging us all down.

Present and not accountable. The Donald wasn’t my first pick in the primary, but neither were any of the other career politicians running. In spite of the fiasco that oblowme made, I supported Herman Cain and Ben Carson. And this is coming from a born and bred (but not in-bred) Georgian.
That being said, I voted for the Donald, and will vote for him again, given the chance. My taxes have never been lower, my 401K is kicking ass, and career polictos are running scared. Congress will spend the next two years dragging their feet, pointing their fingers and trying real hard to not get anything done. Anybody in political office that has been there more than 10 years is PART OF THE PROBLEM. Go home, sit down, shut up, and quit trying to run/ruin our lives. Get a haircut and get a real job…..Oh and BTW GO ARMY…BEAT NAVY!

Thanks Brother, signed back in last pm on the storm thread. Missed the gang while I was steady stuffing myself for the food orgy holiday. Was able to lurk around on Sister’s smart phone to keep tenuous coverage of my dickweeds and weedeses. Was proud to see charles w committing to his stapler again. That spanking that the “HOW “BOUT THEM DAWGS” gave to the north ave trade school boys weren’t near as entertaining as watching The ROLL TIDE ROLL over the cow college. We’d chuga-a-lug a cold beer each time the TIDE ROLLED, ’bout got faced. It was made doubly delicious cause one of my daughter’s buddy soccer mom’s hubby was a cow college alum. We gave the boy hell. I look forward to the game this weekend, will actually be able to watch it, cause it’s on broadcast. I called Nick S last night to make sure we could play GA Players during the overtime this year, instead of having to substitute Falcons Players like we had to last year. He made no promises. goarmybeatnavy

Amen! Prez Trump has my vote as well!

Slow Joe

I guess I am still disappointed about the lost of the House in the midterms.

I was expecting a repeat of 2016.

ChipNASA

I kinda have to agree, I was hoping for that as well, but my gut said, maybe now.
As has been said here and other places, I thing the Democraps are now full of themselves (when aren’t they?) and they are starting their hoop and hollaring. Come January when they all are sworn in and they start burning DJT effigies at the stake and they they over reach and then the American people see who’s really on their side or who’s just in it for themselves, *again*, AND once some things are possibly released, I think we’re in for a January Surprise.
Hang in there. We’ll see.
Maybe some of the Deep State actors will have an ass pucker factor of 9.
IMHO, I think their coming behavior is going to bolster another win for Trumpmaster in 2020.

2/17 Air Cav

You know, the House and Senate had (actually, still have) a Republican majority. So, why didn’t they fund the wall? Because they were pussies, worried about the affect it would have on the mid-terms. Well, the elections are behind us now and they still have a majority in Congress until the new bodies are sworn in. So, what’s the problem? Fund the damn wall.

26Limabeans

Just build it and pay for it now.
That’s the way Jose Ocasio Ortez wants to fund everything.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, on Netflix, is excellent. Another win for the Coen Brothers.

The libtards are losing their minds because in the 6 different old west stories that make up the movie, there is only one female lead, and natives are violent and brutish, a copy of the stereotypes from the 1950s western movies.

It was most excellent! I highly recommend “The Christmas Chronicles” as well. There’s a little surprise in there for TAH regulars, if you pay attention.

Great Story!

Several years ago, the Pope and Nancy Pelosi were on a stage in front of an enormous crowd.

The Pope leaned toward Pelosi and said, “Do you know that with one little wave of my hand, I can make every person in this crowd go WILD WITH JOY? This Joy will not be a momentary display, like that of your Followers, but will go very deep into their hearts. For the rest of their lives, whenever they speak of this Day, THEY WILL REJOICE!”

Pelosi replied, “I seriously doubt that. With one little wave of your hand? Show me!”

So the Pope slapped her.

The End. 😎

WW2 Soldier’s remains identified:

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The remains of a U.S. soldier from West Virginia have been identified more than a half-century after he died in World War II.

The Defense POW-MIA Accounting Agency said Tuesday the remains are those of Cpl. Joseph Akers of Kenova.

The 23-year-old Akers was killed in November 1944 during a battle near Grosshau, Germany, while serving with the Army’s 803rd Tank Destroyer Battalion.

The agency says a U.S. investigation team found remains inside the remnants of an American tank destroyer near Grosshau. The remains were declared unidentifiable and were interred at a U.S. military cemetery in France.

The remains were sent to the agency last year. Scientists used DNA analysis and other means to identify them.

CPL Akers, I am humbled by your sacrifice.

AnotherPat

Thank You for sharing, HMC Ret.

Rest In Peace, CPL Akers.

Salute.

https://www.fieldsofhonor-database.com/index.php/en/american-war-cemetery-margraten-a/45769-akers-joseph

Corporol Joseph Akers was born 29 September 1921, in Wayne, Wayne County, West Virginia. His hometown was Kenova, Wayne County, West Virginia.

He had 5 Sisters and 4 Brothers…Violet, Lowell, Delaine, Grady, Mildred, Frances, Margaret, Thelma and John.

His Parents were Flemon J. and Rebecca S.(Braley) Akers

Before he joined the US Army, he farmed with his Father.

During WWII, he served with C Company, 803rd Tank Destroyer Battalion and was KIA on 25 November 1944 in the area of Grosshau, Germany. On that day, CPL Aker’s tank destroyer took a direct hit. There were 5 men in the tank – three were killed and two escaped. When the unit returned to the site 2 days after the attack, they found the burned out shell of the tank destroyer, but there were no bodies inside or out. The eyewitnesses stated that the tank destroyer had broken thru the forest and were located on the outside edge of the forest when they were hit.

On 24 May 2018 the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that the remains of Corporal Joseph Akers were found and identified. He was buried at the American War Cemetery in Margraten, France as an unknown. A rosette will be placed next to his name to indicate he has been accounted for.

His awards include the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

I didn’t read one fact in the diatribe from the liberals. Not one. All they have is ‘Trump bad, because Trump, Pelosi good, blah, blah, blah.’ Their entire life revolves around hatred for Trump. Yeah, the Republicans got steamrolled. NOT! Think you have heard some horrible vitriol? Just wait for the coming two years. You ain’t heard nothin’ yet. Look for more paid stooges to appear and accuse various Republicans, possibly including Trump, for sexual impropriety. And of course they will be truthful in their accusations because, well, Trump.

I learned a new word today: baizuo.

Baizuo is a derogatory Chinese neologism used to refer to Western leftist liberal elites. Those are they who kowtow to “other” in public, but in reality, they would not lift a finger. Quick to criticize conservatives and wave the ‘look at me, how aware/woke I am’, but won’t bring any of those less fortunate into their homes. Prime examples: J.K. Rowling, Alyssa Milano, you name it.

We have some real loudmouthed baizuo characters in politics now, don’t we?

I love this story. For a mere $141.3 million of our tax dollars, granted to New Orleans by HUD, scientists are at work trying to learn why the city is sinking and prone to flooding. Could be a lot of things, but a couple have all ready determined that climate change and rising sea levels are factors. Another is old clay pipes. For $20 I can tell them why. The f’n city is well below sea level and was built, in part, on filled-in swamps. Cripes.

AnotherPat

HUD = What were they thinking…

http://www.experienceneworleans.com/deadcity.html

“Why Above-Ground Tombs?”

“New Orleans has always respected its dead, but this isn’t the reason that our departed loved ones are interred above ground. Early settlers in the area struggled with different methods to bury the dead. Burial plots are shallow in New Orleans because the water table is very high. Dig a few feet down, and the grave becomes soggy, filling with water. The casket will literally float. You just can’t keep a good person down! The early settlers tried placing stones in and on top of coffins to weigh them down and keep them underground. Unfortunately, after a rainstorm, the rising water table would literally pop the airtight coffins out of the ground. To this day, unpredictable flooding still lifts the occasional coffin out of the ground in areas above the water table, generally considered safe from flooding.”

“Another method was to bore holes in the coffins. This method also proved to be unsuitable. Eventually, New Orleans’ graves were kept above ground, following the Spanish custom of using vaults. The walls of some cemeteries here are made of economical vaults stacked on top of one another, while wealthier families could afford the larger, ornate tombs with crypts. Many family tombs look like miniature houses, complete with iron fences. The rows of tombs resemble streets. This is why New Orleans burial plots quickly became known as Cities of the Dead.”

26Limabeans

Love the “studies” that cost more than the entire project. Every year they “study” the highway. You can see them out there surveying and measuring and painting all kinds of strange marks on the surface.
Then winter comes and the marks get worn away.
Next year same thing. The results of the “studies” are always the same with the recommendation that “further studies” be performed

5th/77th FA

If we had all the money spent on all the needless “studies” over the decades, we would NOT have a National Debt of 20 trillion + USD.
The Original Native Inhabitants told the Spanish and the French that the only good land was that small patch that contains the French Quarter. That’s why there were no Native Settlements in the area. What wasn’t swamp land was sea marsh. Dumbasses.

Sparks

For only $.3 million, I will absolutely give them the answers and solve the problem. First I’ll pull out the original city plats and plans those will solve the issue and I’ll be asking for my check. In themselves, the plats will give the answer. Far before any man-caused climate effects beyond candles and whale oil lamps. The folks in southern Louisiana have been bailing water since they first settled there and it has never ended.

Meanwhile, in California, climate change is obviously causing the devastating wildfires that have destroyed so many homes. Of course, it has nothing to do with deciding to build your house in the middle of the dry woodpile or with the lack of some proactive forest management.

I would be interested to hear from The Other Whitey since he fights these fires. Are the forests managed the best they could be or not?

The Army-Navy game is Dec 8th and the betting lines are not yet up. However, despite the teams starkly different records, they are damn near identical when it comes to stats. It’s amazing how close they are in all categories. I was shocked to see the cumulative stats for both teams. But there you go. Army rarely passes. Navy rarely passes. Army has 6 passing TDs all year. Navy has 5. That’s not a typo. Army has 36 rushing TDs and Navy 35. Army averages 303 yds on the ground per game and Navy averages 288. In short, these two teams are set to beat the crud out of one another. It will be a slugfest. If you like old-fashioned football, you will love the game.

1. I’d open county poor houses where the folks would get breakfast, clean up their area, and take care of hygiene needs.

2. Then they’d get a bag lunch and go off to some detail (cleaning the parks, tidying up the sidewalks and other common areas, and such things that GI’s call details).

3. Then back to the poor house for supper.

4. Then some time for AA, NA, vocational training, or other such meetings.

5. Then off to bed.

She got angry to the point of screaming at me.

Lesson learned: always wear hearing protection when speaking to a limousine liberal.

A woman in Texas was arrested for multiple instances of voter fraud. She was a green card holder and ineligible to vote. The prosecutor offered her a deal: plead guilty and no jail. She said no deal. So, she goes to trial and a jury convicts her of fraud. She gets eight years. She appeals. She loses. The End.

rgr769

Great result. Too bad it isn’t front page news in every Spanish newspaper or the lead story on Univision news. But, but the progs know there is no voter fraud in this country, unless a Republican wins an election; then they “stole” the election by “voter suppression.” I hope this woman enjoys her time as the prison wife of Big Mary Quite Hairy.
