And This Just In

| November 20, 2018

I’m reposting something from Watts Up With That, because if it weren’t for instant internet news, we might have not seen this coming.

Democrats Debating Ocasio-Cortez Plan to Switch to a Climate Change Command Economy

Please read it carefully, especially Ocasio-Cortez’s plans for seizing the American economy. Her ignorance is at an appallingly high level, yes, but she is a juggernaut on a roller coaster ride to make her place in history, by golly!!! She is annoying the very people who could/might be willing to help her climb to glory.

She has done something that I had not anticipated: Ocasio-Cortez, in her haste to become Numbah One and lead with her ass… er, her lack of information, is running roughshod over senior members of the House and has already created a split in the Democrats over Her Plans. They are quarreling now. If this crack continues to grow and widen, as I hope it will, it weakens them. And if it gets wide enough, it may take a very, very long time to recover.

We now have two in Congress who want to have their own way: ‘Nuke ‘Em’ Swallwell, and this Bronx bimp.

They may seem like threats to the rest of us as a population, and they should, because they think they can do whatever they want to. We know that they can’t just do whatever they like, and that their “powers” are limited by law.  But beneath the perceived threat is the wedge they are driving into their own Democratic party.

I had hoped this kind of crack in that party would occur some day. Hoped and wished and dropped coins in a charity wishing well. And it is happening right in front of us. If she continues along this path of running roughshod over senior members of the House, and probably the Senate at some point, a split which has already begun may widen and last for a very long time. Possibly take a century and a half to heal. Let’s hope so.

Personally, I want to see her stir up so much frenzy and quarreling that the Democrats lose sight of their goal to squash the Republicans and especially Trump. I also hope she really annoys a lot of senior Congress critters, but that’s just me.

What?? I can dream, can’t I?

Read the article, read the links to her plan and take in just how much she is stomping on people to have her way.  Be grateful for all the resources that give us a chance to find out about these things so quickly.

And have a nice Thanksgiving Day.

About the only thing missing is ‘eliminate the Menshiviks’.

11B-Mailclerk

Oh. You noticed.

The hardcore insane Reds are now sizing control of a major American party. If you thought this had already happened, no, the hardcore is just now getting its game on.

The red fla/, pun intended, will be when the not-quite-insane opposition starts to disappear or die. That will be the Gulag system spinning up, and the end of any remaining “play by rules”.

The dems are reaching the point where batshit crazy becomes an asset. It is also the positive feedback loop of Red revolution.

Think about the implications.

This brainless bint has such little knowledge that a few days ago in a media interview she commented that the D-rat progs need to gain control of all “three branches of Congress” because that is what the people want. She should never have progressed beyond being a barista. She is also a proven liar about her background and her assets.

2/17 Air Cav

“If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress — uh, rather, all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House.”

Finally, Waters may no longer be the stupidest person in Congress.

UpNorth

AOC is neck and neck with Hank Johnson. Or, maybe it’s a 3-way tie with those two and Mad Maxine for stupidest moron in Congress.

SMH. God must love idiots. He created so many of them.
Keep up the good work cupcake. They got us surrounded, the poor bastards.

Just remember Obama came out of obscurity and was made a star because of his race. How did that work out for our country. This woman is trying to get on the same track and I cannot wait to see what happens when she bumps up against Pelosi. The only good news is as a first-term U.S. Representative, she will not have much clout especially if she pees off senior Dumobcrats with her anti establishment ideas.

Combat Historian

She has nice long latina legs that are accentuated by wearing very expensive designer high-heels…

Yup, I concur enthusiastically. BUT… from the neck up, there’s a serious wiring problem. Got a short in her headset, or a possible COMSEC mismatch.

Hence the name “Ojos-Locos.”

Occasional Cortex is one I saw the other day.
That pretty much sums it up if you ask me…
Dumb as a box of busted Mexican/Chinese metric wrenches…

HAHA, Occasional Cortex. That’s what I’ll call her from now on.

She needs to be on PLGR time.

HMCS(FMF) ret

IDC SARC must have paid her a “visit”…

The Other Whitey

Bitch wears different $10,000 designer outfits every day but insists she can’t afford to live in DC…

USMC Steve

Maybe so Combat Historian, but she also has a face that looks remarkably like Dunkey, and not one single firing brain cell. That wrecks any nifty legs with really expensive shoes on them.

SFC D

That face is exactly the reason the Army issues barracks bags.

IDC SARC has commented on the utility of the light switch in such cases.

Damn, man. You made my personal charles w file again!

Ocasio-Ortez has a lot to learn. She will be handled with kid gloves by her Democratic Socialist colleagues, lest they suffer backlash by not taking seriously this wunderkind socialist. As for the rest of us, the real people, we can dismiss her as just a wide-eyed fool. Her district is solid Democrat and once she won the primary against a 20-year guy who took his re-election for granted, she was in. The general was just a meaningless exercise. And that primary? She pulled all of 16,898 votes, besting her opponent by 4,018 votes, in a district that is 50% latino.

UpNorth

You’re saying that if the incumbent dem had gotten off of his ass and campaigned for a couple of weekends, he might have gotten 5000 or so of the dems who stayed home to show up and vote for him? I wonder what the percentage of registered voters was that actually showed up that day?

The Other Whitey

Frankly, I find it rather disturbing that Ojos-Locos got elected to anything, but I suppose that’s NYC for ya. She is painfully and proudly ignorant about a whole lot of important stuff, such as the basic organization and separation of powers in the US government. She allegedly has a degree in economics, despite pushing for crap that even Hugo Chavez would agree is idiotic. She has her completely-false “po’ black chil’” origin story that she keeps referring to, when she actually grew up rich in a suburb. And her former coworkers have come out to say that they know her to be a greedy self-centered cunt willing to bang the boss for personal gain.

She is indicative of either a hopelessly dumb electorate, or a hopelessly corrupt electoral district. I’m not a New Yorker (thank Christ), so I’m not sure which.

NHSparky

What? A self-serving whore?

You don’t say!

Sounds like she’ll fit right in with the DC crowd.

ArmyATC

TOW, you assume that there has to be a choice between hopelessly dumb and hopelessly corrupt. They aren’t mutually exclusive. It’s New York City. The hopelessly corrupt count on the hopelessly dumb to keep putting them in power. And as we can now see, the hopelessly dumb are taking power and becoming the hopelessly corrupt with the rise of such “shining stars” as the Bronx Bint, Alexandria Occasional-Cortex. With her, along with that idiot supreme Eric Swallowell and others in the House, I think we’ll see the young corrupt Socialist Dems who want to take power, fighting the old corrupt Dems who want to remain in power. Hopefully, they’ll eat each other alive like a rabid pack of wolves, destroying the Democratic party once and for all.

The Other Whitey

I doubt we’ll be that lucky.

ArmyATC

Have hope, TOW. We may see now what we’ve seen in the past. There are still some moderate Dems in the party. They’ll be left with two choices, fight for their party against the old and young Socialists who are fighting among themselves, or defect to the Republican Party. If they stay and fight it further divides the Dems and makes them weaker. If they leave for the GOP that weakens the Dems. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few defections in the months after the Dems take their seats, especially if the infighting continues and the moderates are losing. Remember, there are at least 14 white male Democrats – moderates I believe – who are fighting to keep Pelosi from getting the gavel again. Either way, it’s a win for us.

“Watts Up With That” is a political propaganda site built for the explicit purpose of refuting the scientific consensus on climate change in order to promote a POLITICAL agenda not a science based agenda.

Using it as a source is sketchy at best since it exist entirely to promote a one sided POLITICAL view.

But I am tired of arguing with you all about your WILLFUL desire to remain in an echo chamber. You all are free to choose whatever reality you want to wrap yourselves in. Since Trump was elected this site has fallen from about the 80,000th most viewed site on the internet globally to the 420,000+. The echo chamber is getting smaller.

2/17 Air Cav

“I was not arguing.” No, you weren’t. You just called all of us here members of an echo chamber. That’s not arguing. I’m not arguing either when I say that you’re an asshole. Just accept it as you want us to accept your statements as neutral.

USMC Steve

Cthulhu, there is no basis for global warming, or climate change as presented. Far too many real scientists have shown it to be false. Hence the fraudulent name change from “global warming” to climate change. No shit, the climate changes from day to day. But there is even more ice and even more polar bears than there were when that asshole Gore started lying about this nonsense. And I seriously doubt anyone here really cares about the view count.

SgtM

They are finding man made artifacts under centuries old ice and snow packs as they melt. How did these artifacts and tools from man get UNDER the ice? They cannot tell me what the weather will be tomorrow but you expect reasonable people to believe what they predict in 50 100 500 years? You sir are a moron.

LC

They cannot tell me what the weather will be tomorrow but you expect reasonable people to believe what they predict in 50 100 500 years?

While there’s definitely a great deal of uncertainty in climate predictions, these are actually two different things. The weather tomorrow, in your area, is a request for specific information on a chaotic system. The climate in 50, 100, 500 years is a statistical measure.

It’s a bit like how aeronautical engineers modeling air flow over a wing can’t tell you where a given particle will go – it’s a turbulent, chaotic system, so specific predictions are impossible. But yet, statistical ones are valid. So we have planes now designed entirely by models that aren’t very dissimilar, in terms of the mathematics, from climate models. The latter add more complexity in terms of everything from solar physics to vegetation, and more uncertainty from lots of noise in sensor data, but fundamentally the principle of statistical analysis still applies.

Or, put another way, I can’t say with any specificity what Joe Smith, 34, from Somewhere, Ohio is going to be doing on Thursday, January 7th, 2021 around noon… but I can, by looking at data, say that most 37 year olds will likely be working at mid-day on a weekday in January. Specificity vs. statistics. It’s a spectrum, but the weather of your region, for a given time is closer to the first, whereas when people talk about the climate in 50, 100, 500 years, it’s statistics.

The Other Whitey

LC, I feel the need to thank you for not being Cuntholio. Disagreement is good. Being a shitbag about it is not. You are not a shitbag, no matter how little we see eye-to-eye.

Cuntholio is a shitbag.

SgtM

And the mini ice age in the 1800’s says…… and when they grew grapes in England says…. You sir are a moron.

LC

Sure, because large trends never have exceptions, right? Has the stock market grown over the past few years? Because the trend shows it has, but I can point to days / weeks / months with drops. Those drops are exceptions to the trend, but they don’t nullify it.

But that’s probably just what a moron would be inclined to say, I guess.

11B-Mailclerk

Ok. The long term climat trend is ice age, interspersed with warmpeiods of reduced glaciation. Those interglacial are noted for the upward trending warming interspersed with cold snaps. At some point, the warming abruptly ends and the ice sheets expand rapidly until they reach the equilibrium point in mid latitudes.

We are not experiencing a warm trend because of fossil fuels. The trend began over 20,000 years ago.

It is important to remember that glaciation is potentially an extinction event for humanity. Warm interglacial periods are decidedly -not-. The last major “bottleneck” detected in human DNA coincided with the depth of the last major glacial era.

What we are now coming to understand is that he ice sheets do not advance slowly over centuries. One brutal season, the snow line moves south by hundreds of miles, and that snow accumulation piles up into a sheet. It may occur in stages, but the result is not a slow change, but catastrophe.

If we have tipped the balance away from catastrophic return to glaciation, we are preventing a billion or more deaths.

The evidence for the rapid sheetis what we find under them when they melt. If they slowly advanced, we would find nothing.

I have been paying attention to this stuff for over 40 years. The tendency to assume climate stasis as a historical norm is absurd. The evidence for a barely-metastable world is overwhelming. The historical record, the parts that are largely non- controversial, show a clear case for periodic shifts, and cyclical changes between major shifts.

It defies sanity that we now have folks declaring that the problem is a lack of socialism, or “carbon/ green economy” or whatever snake-oil term they use for “centralized power under druids who will appease the angry planet (and not be kleptocrat mass-murderers, again)”.

How much wheat can one grow on an icecap? Versus, say, an irrigated desert?

So, since there are about one billion websites, you are saying that TAH is in the 95th percentile! Cool.

Dammit, why’d you have to go off your meds again?

Cthulhu: “Watts Up With That” is a political propaganda site built for the explicit purpose of refuting the scientific consensus on climate change in order to promote a POLITICAL agenda not a science based agenda. False. The site uses cold hard facts to refute the phony “manmade global warming consensus” that the left likes to parade about. I generated an article, on this site, showing how that consensus is false. The folks who are promoting a political agenda happen to be the very same ones who are promoting man made global warming. Real science, using the scientific method, doesn’t support the canard that the planet is “warming up” and that “people are behind it”. Cthulhul: Using it as a source is sketchy at best since it exist entirely to promote a one sided POLITICAL view. Again, false. This source uses real science to show that those, who believe in manmade global warming, are engaging in a false science. I’ve been tracking global weather, and have been following climate related articles and journals. Real science actually shows that we’re in the beginning of a mini ice age, and that things are just going to get colder. The fact that cold records that have been standing for over 100 years are being shattered speaks volumes to the direction global temperatures are going. When you have to “adjust” historical data each year to fit the model, that isn’t science

It is Fraud

When the model consistently predicts only the past, except in the very short term, it is wrong.

When your indicator, rising CO2 levels, -lags- the historical ice core temperature record, by up to -eight centuries-, it is -not- a cause.

Observation: hothouse Venus. Conclusion: man made CO2 will kill us all, someday, unless we go Socialist ASAP.

Yeah. No.

BTW. Science has -no- consensus. That is a collectivist political term. science has data, theories, and repeatable experiments that anyone can duplicate. When no one can falsify the theory by observation, it is accepted until someone comes up with a better one, or the evidence against.

Consensus is a collectivist political thing. Hmmm

The spawn of Marx, Socialism and all its mutant clones, killed more folks than all the CO2 mankind will ever emit.

This bint is living proof of the adage, “Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in very large groups.”

Cthuhu

The Carbon Neutral/Green economy proposal ABSOLUTELY ARE NOT command economy proposals. They are MARKET solutions to the persistent problem in our economy of producers and consumers not paying the TRUE economic costs of production and consumption including externalities. To illustrate: Let’s say you all live in a town around a lake. The economy of the town is DEPENDENT on that lake. The lake draws tourism, many businesses rely on fishing from the lake, hunting of game that exists in the area because of the water supply the lake provides to wildlife, business might offer sail boating and water sports services, the property values of real estate, and thus the personal wealth of home and business owners, is bolstered by proximity to the lake… How do you protect the lake as an asset that the town is dependent on? One way is regulations that prevents any polluting industries from being anyway near the lake. That is NOT a market solution. But it preserves the lake. But the town chooses not to do that because they value free market solutions. A company comes in buys some lakefront property and builds a factory. The factory uses the water from the lake as part of its production process and dumps the used water complete with contaminants from production back into the lake. The company makes chips for smartphones. Consumers love the phones and many even buy the new model every year and toss their old one. The producers of the phone is one of the most profitable businesses in the world. Each integrated circuit in the phone uses about 1000-2000 gallons of water. Billions of gallons are cycled through the factory a year from the lake. Tourism plummets, fishing plummets, game declines, property values plummet… most of the town industries are heavily impacted or wiped out. Also, there is a statistically significant increase in health conditions related to contaminants among the town’s population. Those conditions present lifetime healthcare costs to those that develop them. The pollution and its economic consequences to other businesses are part of the TRUE cost of production. However, neither the… Read more »

Sorry, Ma’am, not my intent.
My intent was for Sister Grace to step up and use the cue stick to the area that says something so phenomenally stupid. (Again)

Stacy0311

Here’s my nit that I’ll pick with your scenario.
I actually worked at a company (NOT Intel) that manufactured chips.

That water that we got from the municipal water supply for manufacturing and to go through multiple filtration processes before it could be used in the manufacturing process (too many impurities).

After it was used, it went through multiple filtration process again I distinctly remember the massive RODI{reverse osmosis/deionization plant on the campus.
So the water that was returned to the city’s wastewater system was actually cleaner that the water that we received from the city’s municipal water supply.

But you keep hammering on that 3 eyed Simpson’s fish cupcake.

Cthulhu

It was a simplistic imaginary model. It is not a real world example.

A lake that supports several businesses being impacted by the polluting effects of one or a handful of businesses is a common way to illustrate externalities as part of the TRUE cost of production and consumption.

Cthulhu

Any polluting industry could have been used.

And the filtration you are describing is literally due to the environmental neutral economic model that forced the company you decribe to absorb the true cost of production. A cost that was at least partially passed onto to consumer of their products.

Fundamentally the TRUE cost of production of a product should be paid by the consumers and producers. Not by members of the public and community that have nothing to do with the transaction.

Jim

Cthulu said:
Fundamentally the TRUE cost of production of a product should be paid by the consumers and producers. Not by members of the public and community that have nothing to do with the transaction.

I agree. Now let us stop funding Planned Parenthood with taxpayers dollars and let those whom consume their services pay for PP.

All your agruments ultimately revolve around money. You and your ilk are true money grubbers at heart.

NHSparky

Then explain to me why the nations that ARE reducing their carbon footprints are being penalized, while the ones which are increasing theirs (cough**CHINA**cough) are not.

Cthulhu

We cannot impose models on other sovereign nations without a treaty.

During previous treaty negotiations China argued that most of the already industrialized world were able to industrialize their economy whithout regard to mitigating pollution and by promoting a green economy the West is being unfair to China by imposing additional production costs on them while they are industrializing. Costs the west did consider imposing until AFTER they had successfully industrialized.

Additionally, they argue that while they are no the world producer and thus polluter they are not currently the CONSUMER.

China position is a pollitical argument.

It does not actually refute the legitimacy of the model as a solution. China just thinks it is unfair to expect them to implement the model while they are industrializing.

They are essentially arguing they should be allowed to pollute like the West did until they fully industrialize.

It should be noted that they are moving much faster toward a green model with respect to energy generation than we are and thus they are innovating and securing patents on green energy production methods. Patents we would have been securing first if we were not dragging out feet on the issue.

2/17 Air Cav

Well, at least we all have a damn good idea which gov’t agency Cunthulu works for. Works? Don’t read too much into that.

rgr769

Like most good useful idiots, you are obviously a deep drinker of Chicom propaganda, rather than a deep thinker. Ever been to a large Chinese industrial city and seen what the air looks like? I think not.

ArmyATC

China and you claim that it is still industrializing and therefore can’t put a green energy generation model into effect because it isn’t industrialized enough to make such leaps Yet you claim they are technologically and industrially sophisticated enough to make innovative leaps in the very green energy generation they say they can’t make.

The Other Whitey

They’re industrialized enough to build their own aircraft carriers and fifth-generation jet fighters. I’d call that pretty fucking industrialized.

ArmyATC

Hell, they’re industry and technology is sophisticated enough to build man made island military bases in the middle of the South China Sea. Kinda contradicts the garbage that Cthulhu is trying to feed us.

Ret_25X

“It should be noted that they are moving much faster toward a green model with respect to energy generation than we are and thus they are innovating and securing patents on green energy production methods. Patents we would have been securing first if we were not dragging out feet on the issue.”

False and empirically so. China and India both contribute more to the so called carbon content than all Western nations combined.

China is creating tech to sell to idiots who think that this is about “paying the true cost of production” as if both investment and profit are not already taxed for that.

Cthulhu, like the mythical concept of ancient aliens, is a propagandized, moonbat crazy, economical illiterate.

Economic illiteracy driven by the envy that is produced when better men and women achieve while they merely draw in oxygen and produce CO2.

So there it is, Cthulhu is nothing more than a polluter who does not pay its fair share of the costs of production.

It is inevitable. Stupid is as stupid does.

And for the record, the Fascist concept of paying the “true cost of production” did not work for Germany either.

Cthulhu

“WE” as in the US and its economic allies.

Right now US anbd European companies who are being required to pay closer to the TRUE cost of production are at a competitive disadvantage to Chinese companies that are largely more free to pollute and not pay and costs to manage the consequences of their pollution.

The US and our economic allies are trying to pressure China to comply with models that force producers/consumers to pay the costs of their externalities.

The alternative to make our industries more competitive is to allow them to pollute indiscriminatly like Chinese industries are largely permitted to do.

China is slowly implementing changes to mitigate pollution now that the costs of pollution in China is skyrocketing and being paid by the public at large.

Our industries are facing a competitive disadvatage in the meantime.

Cthulhu

You have reading comprehension issues.

Cthulhu

By the way, the Trans-Pacific partnership was an attempt by the US to creat an economic alliance with other Asian nations AGAINST China’s unfair practices.

To help leverage influence over China and coerce them to compromise on economic issues negatively impacting the US and Pacific partners.

When we withdrew, China stepped in and started forming alliances AGAINST our interests by making concessions to some of our former partners in the deal.

Ret_25X

No, the TPP was not an economic alliance but a concession of US economic wealth to other nations.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Cthaha: You are an NPC. If you actually read WUWT you would find a wealth of actual science and mathematics that destroys the global warming meme. The (very poor) science of anthropomorphic global warming (AGW) due to carbon DIOXIDE was proven to be wrong*, but not before the politicians turned it into Catastrophic AGW which is the political side of the story. The world is coming to an end! This is due to you sinful people! Atone for your sins! We can grant you indulgences in the form of carbon (what happened to the dioxide part?) credits! Do these memes sound familiar as seen in many religions? Controlling people via fear of the unknown is an axiom of those who wish to be in control both in politics and religion. At best, our understanding of how the climate works is in the fetal stage. Climate is a chaotic system that will take us a long, long time to get an accurate knowledge. Reading WUWT will give you a clear understanding of how little we know about the climate. Excellent scientists and knowledgeable folks debate the science daily on WUWT. You can get an education from WUWT that would cost you thousands and thousands at a higher learning institution. Anyone with a reasonable science background, an above average intelligence, and not an NPC, soon recognizes that the CAGW “science” is some truly poor science at this point in our knowledge base. The earth has warmed by 1.5 degree C since the Little Ice Age – 1400 to the latter 1700’s A.D. We do not have a great understanding of why, though there are lots of interesting theories. Carbon DIOXIDE has been thoroughly debunked as a viable mechanism for this global warming. Please come back and argue this point because I can give you scores of scientific reasons why CO2 has been debunked. The political side of the issue started with CO2 as the warming basis. Good thing EX’s post is a grim fairy tale based on reading too much propaganda and her feverish fear of anything she does not understand.

Nobody in congress is proposing a command economy.

Skimming the surface is what I do when I see one of his long comments. He is starting to reach the word count of LC.

When it comes to words, Ex- rules the roost. No one around here can come close. She can say in 200 words what it takes others to say in 20.

2/17 Air Cav

I know you can do it!

LC may be wrong-headed, but he at least tries to keep it civil, even when some folks heap invective on him. He rarely seems troll-ish, just wrong. I think he will eventually figure it out, too.

Others, well, they could learn a thing or three from LCs posts.

LC

One of the rare moments where our thoughts are exactly the same – we both think the other will eventually figure it out.

2/17 Air Cav

“LC, you could get a better reception by editing your comment length down just a tad.”

Was that a joke?

Technically his statement is correct. It is a strawman though as she is not yet in the congress so “no one in congress” is proposing such things. Now on January 3rd there will be a whole new ballgame.

Not really, Bernout Sanders, incumbent dem senator, is on the warpath against Walmart. He wants to be the one, or wants the Kollective, er Congress, to determine what the employees are paid and what those in the management part of the corporation are paid. Mad Max
Waters wants to nationalize the oil industry, for starters.
Alex Occasionally-Correct has plenty of company.

The grim fairy tales are the ones told by the climate change zealots. For reference, see Gore’s busted predictions and basically anything from Governor Moonbeam.

Ex’s “grim fairy tale” as you say is pointing out how a soon-to-be member of congress actually wants to federalize large segments of the economy in furtherance of a religious movement. That’s far more disturbing to rational thinking Americans than the oceans will rise .75″ in the next century or it’ll be another 1 degree C hotter.

5jc: I know the feeling having done my part in Nam and watching the risks I took get trashed by the Democrats. The communists won that round, but we cannot let the communist democrats beat our country. Continue the fight in what little ways you can. Educate every chance you get. Chewonahulagirl is not smart enough to recognize he/she/it is being used by the communists to do their bidding. Occasional Cortex is a communism believer and wants to be one of the elite in a communist society.

But we cannot let the communist democrats beat our country again.

There, fixed that for you.

lead/led I Robot strikes again.

Reading watts up with that was really electrifying. The Valentines and Belmonts were from the Bronx and this knucklehead cortez has to ruin it.

Cold is when one talks, and as the words come out of the mouth, they turn to ice and fall to the ground. I think the temp. has to reach zero point dip stick or as we used to say when I was onboard the OKIE 3, zero point dip shit.

Here’s my take on global warming/climate change: I don’t give a shit. Thank you.

It’s not a command economy. They are just ordering folks to do all the things the would-be commanders want done, that folks won’t do on their own.

It’s not socialism. The state will just control all those means of production that -need- it, to make things work right.

It’s not dictatorship if no one opposes the folks dictating, because they are of course are right and must therefore be obeyed. And why are you not still applauding Comrade? -no one- disagrees with the Consensus!

Tell us how much you agree! Very much so or enthusiastically so! Both! Why you will go far Comrade!

The Other Whitey

I saw “The Death of Stalin” for the first time the other night. Surprisingly funny movie, with Steve Buscemi as Khruschev, Jason Isaacs as Zhukov, and Olga Kurylenko as Maria Yudina.

You just reminded me of this exchange in the movie, when Lavrentiy Beriya has announced that he’s cancelling the latest round of executions and releasing a bunch of political prisoners.

Khruschev: “What the fuck? *You’re* the good guy now? You’re the one who put all those people in prison in the first place, you fat asshole!”
Beriya: “Yeah, and now I’m generously releasing them!”

Something about despotic double-talk.

I have had several acquaintances who escaped communism.

At least one would have to be restrained from homicide, were they to read some of the hard-lefty posters here.

When you have an escapee from -Soviet Siberia- saying,

“how can -any- Americans fall for this Red bullshit? No one in the -Soviet Union- believes any of it!”

It is kinda hard not to assume willing stupidity.

rgr769

I have an acquaintance who is from Commie China. She thinks she escaped from a giant prison. She didn’t like being “a slave of the state” (her words), and her family was better off than most, as her father was a math professor at a university.
