12 Gauge Pistol- Just Because You Can…
…doesn’t mean you should. Fortunately only five or so of these monsters are in existence. They started life as drab but reliable-as-a-hammer Rossi break-action, single-shot shotgun that was cut down and then reclassified as a pistol. This 12 gauge pistol is completely custom, and the only versions seen were found in Canada, surprising nobody.
Rossi Single Shot
When normal people think of a pistol-shotgun, one of the Taurus ‘Judge’ family comes to mind, or perhaps a Bond Arms derringer in .410/45LC.
Cap guns in comparison.
So I’ma goin’ to take my derringer and go home, but I won’t have a broken wrist.
Category: Guns
Whole new meaning to the term “hand cannon”. Better hope the first round is effective; won’t be able to get the second one off till your wrist heals.
No doubt, much more fun with light birdshot loads. 600+ grain projectiles from ANY gun,at any speed, will welcome recoil pain to certain parts of the body.
No, I am not going to buy one for any of you.
But…..Christmas 🙁
Think of the children.
Oh, for Pete’s sake….! Why are you guys never satisfied with something simple like an Erector set or the Gilbert Chemistry set?
I had an erector and the Gilbert Chem set when I was a kid.
Those were so good for children’s self-education and exploration of the world.
I enjoyed the Erector sets and different chemistry sets I had. The only chemistry education I ever had, unfortunately.
‘Cause they dont make the Gilbert Chemistry set anymore and the Erector set wont go “boom”.
Yeah, they took all the fun out of childhood. Potassium ferricyanide could be used to make invisible ink. It was so cool. But the CYANIDE word scared parents to pieces and it is no longer a cool kids’ thing. Both P. Ferrocyanide and P. Ferricyanide are harmless chemicals used as blue colorants in paint, like Prussian blue.
it’s just a shame that EVERYTHING INT HE WORLD IS TOO DANGEROUS FOR CHILDREN TO TOUCH these days. Can’t even roast marshmallows on a stick without the parents going berserk.
So… you are getting us this hand-cannon for Christmas?
We’ll share, I promise! Pleeeeeez….
Psssst!
Tell her we’ll do the dishes and take out the garbage.
🙂
I would have actually done my homework for a Gilbert Atomic Energy Lab….the few I can find on e-bay go for over $3000.
That’s assuming Homeland Security will even let it go through the mail….
I never read the directions on my chemistry lab. Just started mixing different stuff to see what happened.
Nothing serious or fun like a flash bang. I got bored with the set and started looking through the pantry shelves for more ingredients like baking powder and baking soda. Then out to the garage to what dad had available. Fun times.
Passed Chemistry in college with a D.
That balancing of equations and valence thing just never made sense.
Yeh, except the MOST dangerous things are ok with parents, like the news media and dumocraps not to mention stalkers on the computer!
What was the movie… Cobra, I think, with Stallone.
its a smaller version of the 50 state legal 14 1/2 ” barreled 12ga Mossberg shockwave. now those are a Hoot to shoot!
Not impressed, the “Governor” or the “Judge” with 410 slugs or 000 shot is better imho!
No thanks, I’ll stick with my DP12.
Maybe with low brass #9 shot but anything heavier is a no go at this station.
For a flare gun, that’s got a helluva kick.
The 00 in an M-79 kicked but the rest of the rounds were rather mild. The flare rounds were fun to play with at night.
“Hey, watch this”
Here is the glorious US of A, you COULD do this if you fill out the appropriate paperwork and pay $200 for a Short Barreled Shotgun (SBS) tax stamp…
OR, buy an Any Other Weapon (AOW) from a company that makes something similar from a virgin receiver.
Serbu Shorty is a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 based AOW that’ll offer a more functional package than the above.
Time to repeal the NFA, Make the 2nd Amendment Great Again!

While I DO support the right of anyone who wants one having one, or two or three, it just seems easier to avoid situations where one might actually be useful.
Ouch. The thought of firing one is just painful, unless you are at least 6’14”, with appropriate strength and weight.
6’14″…isn’t that (12 inches equals a foot) 7’2″?
Well, yeah.
I should think you’d need to be 6’24” to handle that thing.
Which comes out to 96 inches.
You are probably right!
BOOM!
I own a Rossi takedown .22 Gallery rifle. I think that Rossi is out of business now. Can anyone confirm this??
I thought Taurus had bought them, but from Wikipedia:
“The production line of revolvers and handguns was acquired by Taurus. Rossi currently produces only hunting rifles, shotguns and traditional line of Puma rifles. It also has a line of own airgun, known as Rossi Dione.”
So they are still in the rifle and shotgun business.
gamachinist; your right because I didn’t mention that I bought another .22 gallery takedown which was a Taurus and has the little key lock on the receiver. Taurus bought the machining rights from Rossi/Brazil which was what I was told. This was a long time ago so my memory is a little vague on it. Come to think of it, I had a Rossi 20 gauge side by side shot gun years ago that I used for trap shooting. I can’t handle handle a 12 Gauge pump and then a few years ago, I found out that a pump has more of a recoil than a semi auto shotgun. Still a learning curve for me
Freedom Boner!
Was at the range one day and a guy showed up with a Desert Eagle .50 cal pistol.
I didn’t fire it, but was standing behind the guy when he shot it. FUCK! I actually felt the blast wave from the pistol! Damn!
I’d love to check this one out.
I predict a lot of bruised and bloody foreheads. I’m not a small guy but; unless I was shooting light trap-loads, I’d be shooting that MoFo from the hip.
I used to have a 10″ (double) barrelled 12ga. A dumbass co-worker decided to touch off both barrels at once. It looked like he stopped an F-150 with his shoulder!
Great for rat shooting in the shed. One shot and every one goes to hospital together.
These days you think something called ‘Erector Set’ will find shelf space in any store?
