From San Diego, CA

Police were investigating a shooting that left a man dead on a boat docked at a National City pier Tuesday.

The shooting aboard the catarman  motor yacht “Seaweed,” docked at Pier 32 Marina located at 3201 Marina Way was reported around 4 a.m., according to National City police.

Witnesses reported a boat owner got off of a large yacht and yelled for help, telling others that he had shot and killed an intruder. A man, a woman and a dog were in the boat when the suspected intruder boarded the vessel, according to the witness.

The intruder, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the dock, police said.

Police determined that the trespasser had released the mooring lines of the yacht and set it adrift. He then tried to start the engines before forcing his way into the cabin, National City police Sgt.Chris Cameron said.

It was not immediately clear if the boat owner would face any charges in connection with the fatal shooting.

From Houston, TX

A man at a south Houston hotel shot a woman early Tuesday after she allegedly tried stealing his pick-up truck and ended up crashing into another vehicle.

The two had just met and were headed to a hotel near Bellfort and the South Sam Houston Parkway. The man walked in to get a room around 4 a.m., then spotted the woman taking off in his truck, according to Lt. Larry Crowson of the Houston Police Department.

The man had a pistol and fired several shots, striking the woman, Crowson said. Then, as she sped away on the service road, the wounded woman ran a red light and hit another driver going through the intersection.

Damn! The boat owner wasted a perfect opportunity to practice The Four Esses:
Suppress
Shoot
Shovel
Silence

Just leave the pier (the boat was already untied from the dock), go out a few miles, dump the body in the dark, then return and tie up again as if nothing had happened. At that hour of the morning, I doubt anyone would have seen him leave and return.

Usually nothings good happens at 4 in the morning. However, 1 DRT & 1 WOT ain’t a bad start.

What idiot would leave the keys in his truck with the bimbo sitting there? That must have been true love??

David

Or at least true lust.

Wilted Willy

Talk about a hit and run??

How about weapon’s grade stupidity. “Here, hunny, hold my truck keys while I gets us one of them there rooms.”

Moments later he’s laying lead (not that kind of lead) in her direction as she hauls ass.

Some people were born stupid. Here’s a perfect example.

In re: the yacht, what is a “catarman”? I know what a catamaran is, but “catarman”????

The intruder was trying to steal the man’s boat? Did he think no one would miss it? This episode of Strange just leaves me scratching my head.

Stealing a boat is actually quite easy.
It is a huge problem here in Florida.
There is no central database for stolen boats like there is for cars.
Just go to the next state over and sell it and you are home free.
Since it is San Diego, he could also easily go to Mexico and sell it there.
“ paperwork? We don’t need no stinking paperwork!”

Shooting at a vehicle moving away, where there wasn’t any threat to the owner!!! WTF.

CCO

OK in Texas or not?
