Secretary Mattis and election tampering.

The Press has been going on about the Trump Administration denying Russians were involved in election tampering. From Military Times article:
“We all saw what happened in 2016 when the Russians, and possibly others, but the Russians for certain tried to do both influence operations and actually get in and corrupt some of the election process,” Mattis told reporters Tuesday during a Pentagon ceremony for British Secretary of State for Defense Gavin Williamson.
Moreso, in line with what the intelligence community has concluded, Mattis said: “I believe it is official Russian support” for the meddling. “However, that is not exclusive. There’s also other activities that went on that perhaps are not directly ascribed to the official Russia. But we watch for all of it and we can trace at least parts of it back to the Russian government.”
and then later in the article:
However, after intense public criticism following similar comments during his summit last month with Putin in Finland, Trump said: “I accept our intelligence community’s conclusion that Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election took place.”
Secretary Mattis goes on to say:
“We are focused on protecting the elections themselves,” Mattis said. “So we’re looking at both this influence peddling and the corrupting, the violating the integrity of the elections, and those activities are in direct support of law enforcement and Department of Homeland Security. “
I just wanted to put that somewhere I can easily find it. Of course the Russians tried to alter the elections, every election, for many decades. I can also report that their efforts did not sway my selection for any office, particularly the Oval Office. I don’t know anyone who did change their mind because of it. I have enough Russian meddling to deal with as it is.

Oh, golly, gee. If these dimwitted reporters had gone to the trouble of doing a smidgeon of real research, they’d know just how much meddling by the Soviets took place, and when, and how many “famous” US people were snookered into pumping PR for them.
Reporters today are so dumb, it hurts to read what they think is clever, recent and news. The Russians/Soviets have been trying to fiddle with our electoral processes since the 1930s. They recruited Ernest (Uncle Ernie, aka Papa) Hemingway to write for their silly rags in the 1930s and 1940s. They duped his arrogant ass right into it.
So you see, if they were REALLY as clever as they think they are, wouldn’t they already know this?

As well, they publicly “interfered” with Britain’s campaign to exit from the EU.

There were many reasons not to vote for Wide Load and, for me also, there was only reason to vote for Trump: He was not her.

Since now, all of a sudden, Democrats are worried about election fraud, perhaps we should hit them up for ID requirements to vote.

Oh, I’m completely in favor of requiring an ID.
My driver’s license should be sufficient, or the standard state ID, which is available for a modest fee for those who don’t drive.
I’ve always thought it was a fine idea.
I’m always curious as to why they act like voter ID is like some sort of poll tax. You have to have an ID to buy smokes, alcohol, cash checks, apply for all sorts of benefits, etc. . . Several states are issuing IDs for free:

Because the Liberals would lose 20% of their voters. My Mother voted in the 2012 Presidential election. She passed away in 2010. She lived with me and we voted in the same place. I was one of the first there when the polls opened and the ledger was already filled out for her. When I questioned it I was told to leave or the police would be called.
In the 2016 election in, Western Pennsylvania, there were some voting machines that cast a ballot for Clinton when a straight Republican ticket was selected. I was asked to witness while a poll worker corrected a ballot for a woman. The problem was explained away as a “calibration error”. If it was an error why didn’t it work both ways? If there was a machine that cast a vote for Trump when a straight Democrat ticket was cast I’m pretty sure we would have heard about it.
Tamper is such a delicate, innocuous-sounding word. So, too, is meddling. “Tampering and meddling, with sprinkles, please.” Mattis and those words just don’t fit.
He had to. You cannot get away with putting “ratfucking” and such in official communiques and statements.

Well, it’s easy enough to cobble together a list of emphatically nasty but seemingly polite euphemisms for such terms as ‘ratfucking’.

I just remember the smarmy remarks by President Obama regarding, “The election isn’t rigged you’re just losing”…and now, well it’s clear who was losing.
The funny part is the DNC actually rigged their own primaries to screw the old white guy from New England so the queen would run unopposed…that worked out far better for the Republicans than any Russian meddling. The Democrats pissed off so many of their own party they just stayed home, especially young people who were energized by Sanders originally. Had the Democrats let Sanders compete fairly and he had won I’m not certain Trump wins…as these younger folks grow up they become the bigger voting block as we boomers drop dead with increasing regularity. As an age demographic they outnumber the millennials.
