Chip and Mick send us links to Fox News which reports that Hanoi Jane Fonda Express some, but not enough, regrets for her visit to North Vietnam in 1970 to undermine our troops;
“Prior to me becoming an anti-war activist, I had lived a meaningless life,” she said. “So when I decided to throw in my head in with the anti-war movement everything changed.”
She then detailed her regret over posing on an anti-aircraft gun, which led her to being nicknamed “Hanoi Jane” and many accusing her of treason.
“I am proud I went to Vietnam when I did. I am so sorry that I was thoughtless enough to sit down on that gun at that time and the message that that sends to the guys who were there and their families – it’s just horrible for me to think of that.”
She admitted she knew little about the war before she encountered some American soldiers in France who enlightened her.
For some stupid reason someone in Hollywood thinks that the American public would be interested in watching a documentary about her sad, useless life;
Fonda revisited her best and worst moments for the HBO documentary “Jane Fonda in Five Acts.”
In the trailer for the documentary, she reveals: “I’m very sorry for some of what I did.”
Yeah, she was sorry for what she did, but then she threw in with the Iraq Veterans Against the War during the war against terror, so obviously she didn’t learn anything from her Vietnam experience.

Sometimes the regret one feels doesn’t mitigate the actions one feels regret over at this point in time.
Jane Fonda’s remorse and sorrow doesn’t make what she did better, doesn’t remove what she did, and doesn’t change the effect her words and actions had on better men and women than her.
If she told me she felt such sorrow she was donating the bulk of her wealth to veteran’s groups I might believe she finally has some idea of the impact. The problem I have with the left is they believe saying the words, “I’m Sorry” removes or alters what they did. Murderers find Jesus and express remorse as well, we still execute them because none of that is relevant to the acts of wrongdoing.
If she’s sincere, I’m glad she feels some regret but it changes nothing in real terms. I was always taught that when you fuck up being sorry isn’t enough, making it right even if at severe inconvenience to yourself is the only proper action to take. Adding weight to the dim view of soldiers from that era has done irreparable harm to many of those men and women who have since passed on, there’s no fixing that. Waiting 50 years to say you’re sorry is nothing more than the regret of an old woman who finds the end is closer than she likes and she wishes to clear her conscience of past evils. It’s not good enough Jane, words from the likes of you are relatively meaningless as much of your life has been.

Anybody who served in Viet Nam could probably also tell you there were routine differences of opinion among troops about the rationale for the war, and how it was conducted. Such bitching being normal for as long as there has been armed conflict, and having little to do with killing the enemy and breaking his stuff. It’s also way different from actively supporting the enemy’s cause.
