Thai cave rescue successful

| July 10, 2018

The Telegraph reports that the last of the soccer team and their coach were extracted from that cave in Thailand weeks ahead of schedule;

“We are not sure if this is a miracle, a science, or what. All the thirteen Wild Boars are now out of the cave,” said the Thai Navy Seals on their official Facebook page, referring to the name of the children’s football team.

The mood had been overwhelmingly optimistic from the outset on Tuesday despite heavy rainfall overnight that had continued throughout the morning.

Under overcast skies, Narongsak Osottanakorn, Chiang Rai’s governor and head coordinator of the rescue mission, correctly predicted shortly before noon that all five remaining survivors would be freed by the end of the day.

According to CBS News, an Illinois restaurateur participated in the rescue;

Tsanet Natisri owns the restaurant THAI-D in Marion, Illinois, where he and his wife serve traditional Thai cuisine, WFVS reports. Natisri is a groundwater expert and planner who moved to the U.S. in 2004 from his native Udon Thani, Thailand.

Officials knew Natisri had the skills needed to aid the rescue operation, so they called on him to help pump water out of the cave where the soccer team was stranded.

Natisri was in Thailand doing charity work when military officials requested his help at the cave site on June 28, WFVS reports. He travels back and forth to Thailand three or four times a year, often for charitable work, he told CBS News. “I was doing a groundwater recharge project with the government when the military called me and asked for help,” Natisri said.

Any reports of cannibalism?

Dave Hardin

HAHAHAHAHAHA! I needed that. The suffering will continue until the movie/book deals are all signed.

Thats when they all begin to eat each other.

Fyrfighter

That was my first thought too, when i heard it was a soccer team…is that bad?

HMCS(FMF) ret

Someone had to go there…

HMC Ret

Never heard that song. Couldn’t understand the words so I went over to Google. Jeez. I don’t know whether to laugh or cringe.

Mason

Still shocked they found them all alive and well. Even more amazing they were able to get them all out. Impressive SAR effort!

MrFace

Congrats to the team and hopefully wellbeing from here on out.

RIP to Saman, No greater love than to lay down your life for fellow man.

I’d say “Congratulations” to the kids also. Best we can tell, we didn’t hear any reports of screaming and crying, and after only a little training, these non-swimmers made that underground underwater trek through very tight spaces without panic. “Well done” to those children.

I heard it reported that they were sedated before the trip out and the divers just towed them along with one diver following and then others carried them out on a gurney, they look like they weigh about 20KG each.
I reckon they last thing they would remember is some farang saying were taking you home now and the needle going in and then waking up in bed with crispy sheets with a uncomfortable pillow with 10 sets of strangers eyes staring at them.

OWB

Excellent. Kudos to everyone who particpated and is participating in the rescue and recovery of this team of young me who grewup up a bit before their time.

OWB

“Young meN.”

A couple graphics of the cave and the rescue technique.

Wilted Willy

They should put that idiot coach in jail!

Mick

Good news.

That said, how long will it be now before the first phony cave rescue ‘operator’ makes his glorious debut?

Any takers?

Dave Hardin

I started writing my book before they were even found.

Back in the day I watched the Jamaican Bobsled team…so of course I contributed those skills to the rescue effort.

I also supported Easter SEALS for many years…that really helps with cave diving.

The lesson to be learned here is:

Parents, if your children are unaccounted for during an entire week…they are probably at soccer practice.

This is all probably my fault anyway…I have always had a kinky thing for Soccer Moms.

SFC D

Dave, you are not alone with the Soccer Mom affliction. It’s rampant, uncontrolled. Maybe we need a telethon, or at least a go-fund-me page.

A Thai SEAL died in this operation.

Not 100% successful

Dave Hardin

Yep, that breathing in and out is really complicated stuff. Its almost as hard as falling out of an airplane. Thank the Gods they didn’t have to actually walk out, the balance and dexterity alone is daunting enough on flat dry land.

David

I suspect if folks who, who know something about that kind of rescue, sorta thought it was risky… they may be a bit more credible than we are here.

Had to laugh at the irony of calling someone working on a ground water restoration being called to help get rid of it.

Ex-PH2

Do not listen to anything Dave Hardin says about diving. There is only one thing he dives into, and it’s on dry land.

HMC Ret

Posers we have seen on TAH will be out of the woodwork claiming to have participated in the rescue in 3 – 2 -1 … boom.

Props to the Thai SEAL Team, who lost a former member to the rescue. These guys are tremendous.

Book followed by movie within a few years. Movie will be a love story. Nicholson will play the coach.

Jorge

Lol… I was just about to say that Doc. Many props to everyone involved.

Stand by for the usual “climate change” analyses….

Ex-PH2

According to an article I found online the Thai Army commander prayed to the Thai rain god for ‘just three days’ of no rain. “On Monday, Regional Army Commander Major-General Bancha Duriyapan called on the rain god Phra Pirun to “keep showing us mercy”.

Looks like it worked, doesn’t it?

Fyrfighter

WAIT!!!! I just heard that they’re holding these kids in a govt. facility, away from their parents, for an undetermined length of time #Trumps fault, #reunite families…. Gov. has no right to keep kids away from their families!!! #abolish ICE….

jonp

Thailand…Boys soccer coach probably told the team there were hookers in there.

This dog and pony show should not have lasted this long. String a friggen rope, bring in the gear, give the kids a crash course in one day and lead them out.

OldCorpsTanker72

Tell that to Floyd Collins, jonp.
