Thursday morning feel good stories
From Harvey, Louisiana;
The shooting occurred around 6 a.m. in the 400 block of Maple Avenue. The man entered the homeowner’s residence, and the two began to fight, according to Rivarde said.
During the scuffle, the man brandished a gun. He and the homeowner struggled over the weapon, which fired, striking the man in the abdomen. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died, Rivarde said.
Sheriff’s Office detectives are still interviewing witnesses. But the homeowner had not been arrested or booked on any criminal charges as of Wednesday afternoon, Rivarde said.
From Carroll County, Kentucky;
The Carroll County Coroner said 37-year-old Shaun Corley of Carrollton kicked in the front door of a home on Sycamore Circle just before 6 a.m. on May 29. That’s when the homeowner reportedly shot and killed Corley.

The last thing seen by Mr. Corley.

This made my morning!
Two for two, 100%. Well done.
And the world is a more peaceful place………now.
“kicked in the front door of a home on Sycamore Circle just before 6 a.m.”
This is why I keep a weapon in the bathroom while showering.
Today’s armed citizen batting line analysis.
Today, we had two perps. Both are DOT.
In baseball terms, that’s a 2-for-2 day with 2 HR – and since there were only 2 PAs a BA and OBP of 1.000; a slugging percentage of 4.000; and an OPS of 5.000. Not bad at all.
The guy in Louisiana probably shouldn’t depend on the next perp he encounters to supply a firearm for his use, though. That strategy is kinda risky.
Never enter an armed Patriots home at 0600.
Said Patriot is probably wide awake and all coffeed’ up by then getting ready to go to work or start a productive day.
Yes, 6 am seemed like an odd hour for a home invasion. Most goblins don’t usually get up that early. Most roam the streets all night and get home around 5 AM. The prime time for break ins would be 3 am. As you say, a6 am appointment would be the most unlikely time for a successful breach. Of course, no one ever said these people were Mensa members.
WEll, cotton-pickin’! Nothing for Sister Mary Grace to see today. Move along! And smack the bad guys for us, willya?
I do like the seductive lead in:
“The shooting occurred around 6 a.m. in the 400 block of Maple Avenue”
Awakes the readers curiosity.
“Nothing for Sister Mary Grace to see today.”
Well, nothing except for the author of the Louisiana article that seems to have a penchant for using the wrong descriptor in the story.
Instead of “suspect” or “criminal” or “scum-dog thief” or something else, it’s always written up as:
the “man” entered, the “man” brandished, striking the “man” in the abdomen —
News Flash for ya there, Miss article writer. I viewed other similar stories written by you and you always use the same term “man.” So, spice things up a little, think outside the box and add a little zest to your stories.
After all, you are getting paid for doing the writing, right?
How nice for the trash to take itself out.
I always like it when the criminal gets shot with his own gun.
It satisfies my sense of Justice.
Hondo is right when he points out that it is a risky strategy for the citizen to depend on the perpetrator bringing a functioning gun loaded with the right ammo and already chambered.
A prepared citizen keeps a loaded AR 15 on hand.
It is America’s rifle!
