Santa Fe High School shooting

| May 18, 2018

Fox News reports that at least eight people have been killed in Santa Fe High School in Texas. The reported firearm was a shotgun;

A student told ABC 13 one of the educators, a former Marine, pulled the fire alarm to alert the school of an active shooting situation.

Galveston County Sheriff’s Maj. Douglas Hudson said units responded to reports of shots fired. Witnesses say a gunman opened fire inside an art class during first period. A student in the class told KTRK she witnessed at least one girl being shot.

“We thought it was a fire drill at first but really, the teacher said, ‘Start running,'” the student told the news station.

Two seniors at the school told KHOU 11 their friend pulled the fire alarm after spotting the shooter and urged other students to run. They also said they saw an injured female student.

Dear God.

Prayers for the victims.

11B-Mailclerk

Yeah. lord comfort those folks. Words otherwise fail me.

Green Thumb

Agreed.

AW1Ed

Terrible news.

Mick

Here we go again.

The Other Whitey

Kill this sack of shit, and never speak its name or display its likeness. Let it burn in Hell without the notoriety it craved.

The Stranger

Well, this happened in Texas. Pretty sure he’s going to get a date with the needle and that will happen most ricky-tick.

UpNorth

He’s listed as being 17, so no needle for the yute. He’s “too young”, according to SCOTUS.

A Proud Infidel®™️

I’m sure he’ll get life without the possibility of Parole.

David

Watched this as it unfolded on Houston news… the ‘shotgun’ ID was from one of the girls in the art class. They said live that 8 ambulances had left with sirens on and at least one Life Flight chopper with another on the scene.

Haywire Angel

Cue the “do something” speeches. I hope they drop the SOB, and am sending prayers for the victims.

Fox News (on TV) now reporting that ‘explosive devices’ have been found both on and off campus.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said “Congress is complicit.”

“More tragic bloodshed & heartbreak caused by cruel gun violence,” he added.

While I agree with his stance, he picked a damn poor place and way to express it.

Congratulations David, for being the first one blaming this on both sides.

Do you take pills for being such an ignorant dickhead? Or is it natural? Seems like many here would like to know.

David. That guy is clearly a whack job with no hope of influencing anyone with his stupidity, other than other whack jobs. The gun grabbers, including Dick “I-was-in-Vietnam-unless-you-find-out-otherwise” Blumenthal is a US senator in a position to do something, however useless, and should be just a tad more reserved in spouting off just now, while bodies are being counted.

David

But he will seized upon as a symbol of all the insensitive gun folks etc. Hate to see someone give the proggies an example to work with.

AW1Ed

Point taken, but if not him, they would find or create one out of whole cloth to suit their needs.

26Limabeans

Who said they didn’t.

Ex-PH2

If you’re on THAT side of the political fence, then, like Blumenthal, you will NEVER EVER miss an opportunity to stick your oar into the waters and stir the muddy bottom.

And we ALL know that Blumenthal is a bottom-feeder, don’t we?

Mason

Aside from triggering people with the mere presence of a gun lawfully carried, what did he do that was so wrong? I would have concealed the piece, but he is one of most likely dozens of lookyloos that show up at an incident to see it for themselves. That he wore a Trump hat and waved a flag?

There was a time, during the War of 1812 that the presence of Old Glory had an inspirational message with its presence over Fort McHenry.

Could it be that he was out there reminding the victims that there is a whole country of support out there for them? Could it be that it wasn’t a political stunt and was just an honest act of patriotism?

He is probably doing this as some sort of stunt, but that the media seize on this as if it’s a foregone conclusion that it’s political just shows how asinine we’ve become that politics gets implanted in everything. And giving him a national platform to stand on when our attention should be on the victims sickens me.

2/17 Air Cav

Mason. How can you be sickened by his being giving a national platform and hold him blameless? For all I know, he could be a lefty who decided to push this into Trump’s side of the court. He said he was there to make America great again, waving a flag and sporting a sidearm. He’s an asshole. Now he’s an asshole with, as you say, a national platform.

Mason

I’m sickened that the news people are diverting attention from the victims to some goof who showed up so they paint Trump supporters as gun crazed, heartless loons.

I guarantee there were half a dozen or more cars with “H” or “I’m with Her” bumperstickers in the lot and they don’t highlight that.

Ex-PH2

Don’t you have to ask why Blumenthal jumped right in there and ran his mouth about this? The blood hadn’t even hit the pavement yet, and he jumped on it like a pit bull on a bone, as if – well, as if he knew ahead of time what was going to happen and….
You can fill in the rest if you like.

11B-Mailclerk

Apparently, it is easier for the Ghouls to dance when the blood is still wet.

Mick

And the dance will be choreographed by that fascist youth little shit David Hogg and his liberal moonbat handlers.

They’re probably already setting up the TV cameras and microphones over in Florida so that lil’ David can start his hysterical, shrill anti-gun ranting again.

You can bet on it.

A Proud Infidel®™

AS IF we don’t already have more than enough reasons to hate that little bony eared assfish as it is…

Mason

Why do you have to insult the boney eared assfishes by comparing them to that thing?

A Proud Infidel®™

They’re so damned similar, the Bony Eared Assfish is a deep ocean bottom feeder and like David Hogg, it is nearly all head/mouth and almost NO ASS. The Assfish simply swims near the ocean bottom awaiting its next meal to fall from above much like David Hogg waits to pounce on and dance in the latest shooting tragedy for more attention and publicity whoring.

Like you, I’ve had enough of this. There is something very wrong with too many people in this nation, from teachers and administrators who don’t want a gun in a school, even if it’s worn by an LEO, school resource officer, or trained teacher, to seriously screwed-up kids who have no semblance of respect for life. It can’t be about guns, if for no other reason than there are millions of them in this country that aren’t use to commit murder.

11B-Mailclerk

Some folks see it as quite reasonable to have a pair of armed men guarding a truck hauling sacks of quarters for a laundromat

But absolutely wrong to have armed men guarding our -kids-

That is -insane-

I really think there are just too many coincidences too close together. I think the Anti-Gun Industry and the MSM are *actively* seeking out and widely promoting every ND and shooting they can find in hopes of tipping the scales toward THEIR unconstitutional viewpoint.

11B-Mailclerk

(Grin)

You just noticed? Seems like “day ending in Y” for the last 40+ years to me.

Seriously, though, they are definitely ramping up the propaganda. Mostly because they are net losing the argument, and are getting desperate.

CCW 1986-2018 for example. recent SCOTUS decisions. Sales reaching astronomical numbers.

They screwed up in the 80s, creating the modern pro-gun movement with their overplayed grab attempts, and the jackboot over-the-top 90s idiot moves drove home the point.

Yes, they -were- coming for your guns. Yes, they -were- willing to kill resisters.

The coincidence of the Internet sealed their doom.

Ex-PH2

Copycat crime? If you’re seeking attention, likely, yes. Or is this turning into some creepy sort of thing where people with a bone to pick and a mentality to go with it are being sought out behind the scenes by the gungrabbers and talked into these heinous acts, for the sole purpose of getting more gun control laws passed?

Shooting up a school is shooting fish in a barrel, isn’t it?

I can come up with a dozen conspiracy theories on this, but it’s becoming far too coincidental now to be solo acts that are self-generated.

LC

Occam would like a word with you.

What is “scores” ?

The MSM could logically be identified as the CAUSE of many mass murders. Andy Warhol was right about the 15 minutes of fame.

Geezo Pete, LC, you wrote an intense statement in one short sentence.

Are you all right? No runny nose, fever, or strange itchy feelings?

Please give Occam my regards. I’ve been out foraging, pillaging and looting most of the afternoon. The strawberries were wunnaful-a, and supper will be a joy, with a fresh 5-grain bread, truffled brie, and a personable Spanish red. If he shows up, he’d better bring me quelques fleurs.

P.S. Clicked ‘post’ too soon. You can come, too, as long as you keep your sentences short.

Age of shooter is said to be 17. Good, unless Texas has changed the age at which one is considered an adult.

A Proud Infidel®™

He’s 17 so he’ll be looking at getting life sans parole.

OWB

Did they do away with the death penalty?

CWORet

No, but… “In March 2005, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the death penalty for those who had committed their crimes at under 18 years of age was cruel and unusual punishment and hence barred by the Constitution”. So it looks like LWOP for the POS. (That paste was from the interwebs, so YMMV)

2/17 Air Cav

That’s accurate but I would add that the decision was 5-4 and, thus, one lawyer in a black robe decided the matter.

Celebs Blame Republicans for Santa Fe School Shooting: ‘Go F**k Yourselves’

Within hours of the of the Santa Fe, Texas, high school shooting celebrities took to Twitter going at the NRA, demanding more gun control, and mocking condolences of prayer.

We knew this was coming- limousine liberals with their armed guards screaming obscenities, blaming the NRA and demanding an end to the Second Amendment.

26Limabeans

Just heard on CBS news “more students have been killed in school shootings this year than members serving in the military”

Odd statement. Still trying to process it.

Mason

Statistically speaking, bathtub drownings have killed as many people so far this year.

A teenager is many orders of magnitude more likely to die in a car crash. Servicemembers are similarly more likely to die in an accident or, sadly, suicide.

Mr. Pete

There will be 40,000 traffic deaths and 750,000 abortion deaths this year. Way more than a few thousand “gun deaths”. Not many liberals care about that.

A Proud Infidel®™️

Liberals will do all they can to spare the lives of convicted murderers on Death Row while openly espousing the wanton murderer of unborn children, further proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.

UpNorth

And, there will be 400,000 deaths due to medical malpractice and mistakes, far more than deaths by firearm or traffic.
And, that may be grossly under-reported, after all, doctors bury many of their mistakes.

Fjardeson

Not to mention that the vast majority of “gun deaths” are gang-related crimes or suicides. Not a threat to most of the stand-up citizens that I know of.

Yeah, I get it. Apples and Oranges.

A Marine (there is no such thing as a former Marine)
pulled the fire alarm?
I thought the shooter did to move the students out in the hallway so he could have easier access.

“see something, hear something report it”
Did not work in the Cruz shooting and I would bet there were heads up about this one too given his use of social media.
The difference is the explosive devices.

Mason

I hadn’t heard that but that is usually the shooter that pulls the alarm. Active shooter strategy for teachers and students it to shelter in place.

2/17 Air Cav

I don’t buy that Marine for life business. Never have. Like all other services, a former Marine becomes a Veteran. Marines, active duty or active reserve, are paid, answerable to their superiors and so forth. I feel the same way about former presidents, senators and others who no longer hold office. They are all Mr or Ms. to me.

BigJohn

10-4

Mr. Pete

Yes

Yef

Do you really believe that crap?
All skillz are perishable. A former Marine is a veteran or a retiree like everyone else.

I’ll grant you the Marines have a good PR department. Most civvies think all Marines are trigger squeezers, like if their only MOS was infantry.

Mick

Yef: Coming in here late on Friday evening to try to lamely bash the Marine Corps again, eh? Hoping that none of the Marines here on TAH would see your post from last night? Is all of that Bud Light that you constantly brag about consuming giving you a raging case of Liquid Loudmouth again this weekend? Your anti-Marine (and anti-other services) bullshit here at TAH is getting old. In fact, you sound like you’re butthurt because you know that any Marine can step in at any time and do your job as an infantryman, but the only thing that you know how to do is to be an infantry leg. It goes without saying that you would be useless trying to repair a Marine F/A-18 aircraft engine or working in a Marine artillery FDC, but every single one of those Marines doing those jobs can pick up a rifle at a moment’s notice and do what you do on a daily basis. “Most civvies think all Marines are trigger squeezers, like if their only MOS was infantry.” That’s because every Marine is indeed actually trained as a ‘trigger squeezer’, Yef. Whether you like it or not, every Marine is first trained as an infantryman before moving on to follow-on MOS training. Every enlisted Marine is trained as an infantry Rifleman, and every new Marine officer is trained as an infantry platoon commander. Enlisted training (There’s also an MCT Battalion at School of Infantry – West): Marine Combat Training Battalion School of Infantry – East Camp Geiger, NC http://www.trngcmd.marines.mil/Units/South-Atlantic/SOI-E/Units/Marine-Combat-Training-Battalion/ ‘Every Marine, regardless of his military occupation, is trained as a Rifleman. This concept has been around since the Marine Corps inception in 1775, when every man who volunteered was required to bring his own musket. In the early 1900s, as the Marine Corps grew and additional military occupations were created, the Commandant, General John A. Lejeune, ensured that every Marine, regardless of his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), received marksmanship training. During the Korean War, the Marine Corps was the only service to create rifle companies entirely from cooks, drivers, and… Read more »

I heard another politician claiming it was good the shotgun wasn’t as lethal as the AR-15. I guess he has never seen a shotgun wound, especially at close range. Another report claimed his pistol was a rapid firing semiautomatic .38. Yet, all the local reports say it was .38 revolver.

Time was that “going postal” was an expression frequently heard. It referred to a postal employee shooting up his workplace. It seemed for some number of years that they would never end, hence the expression. We don’t hear it any longer and I can’t recall when I last read about a postal employee going postal. All sorts of theories abounded as to why they postal employees were going berserk, although I don’t remember anyone blaming the availability of guns. No one had the answer, but the shootings ceased and the expression is rarely heard nowadays. I see these high-school shootings in a similar light. They will cease, ultimately, and no one will have had THE answer. It’s not violent video games, movies, or messages on tee shirts, I am sure. Nor is it the gun. So what is it? I don’t know but it has been with man since the Garden of Eden.

Sparks

2/17 Air Cav, I think you succinctly nailed it Brother. I too believe that “this too shall pass”. While I am mortified by these acts that seem to have no reason, except the unstable individual committing them, I think they will come to an end. I hope and pray, sooner than later. I also think unstable applies to teens who perhaps just want to be noticed, if for nothing more than taking innocent lives. When I was in school, there were more kids by far who felt unnoticed, unappreciated and insignificant than were those in the limelight and in crowds. Such was teenage life then and it has not changed. I do not pretend to have an answer, though for their protection in schools now, I could think of a few. But I do not believe it is the guns, nor the violent movies, video games, etc. Too many teens play them and watch them and while believing they are invisible at school, do not find a weapon and decide to be noticed this way. It is the same with all gun deaths. It is criminals committing crimes and gang types who do the most killing, usually within their own community and race and if they stopped, gun deaths in America would drop to near insignificant proportions. Point being, the vast, vast majority of legal gun owners never use their weapons even in self defense much less random or planned violence. The left as usual is myopic. They see thinly what they wish to use to support the agenda of the day. They have never reported the estimated number of legal gun owners who do not commit acts of crime. Instead because they ultimately want control of me, you and our nation, they report the ever so thin minority of such illegal activity as this, yet never report on the gang and same race deaths as being a problem for our country or the race and community affected. Sorry for the longer than expected reply to your post. In the end, I hope this anomaly will pass quickly. My heart… Read more »

There is now a “thing” going around tht there was little to no warning.

So, a kid starts wearing a black trench coat and black boots to school, daily.

That same outfit having been previously chosen by a number of violent knuckleheads, real and hollyweird.

The kid adorns the coat with all sorts of evil/crazy/kill themed stuff. T-shirts to match.

Something of a “quiet loner”

Hello? Anyone sentient in the area? Hello?

Oh. Wait. He was wearing -Left- symbols. -Invisible-! Nothing to see here.

And if this kid was making any -Left- political statements, the Memory Hole is going to be extra busy for a while.

Yeah, that doesn’t make any sense, any more than stripping off and shooting up random people at a public restaurant makes any sense – OTHER THAN SITTING DUCKS.

Not only that, but they put out specific instructions he was not allowed onto school grounds with a backpack. And all the kids who knew Cruz said he was the most likely person to shoot up that school.

Kellyanne Conway Blasts Dem’s ‘Pathetic’ Anti-Gun Rhetoric

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway tore into Democrats who are trying to score cheap political points in the aftermath of the high school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas.

“There is certain reflexive and thoughtless and pretty predictable and pathetic reaction coming from lots of folks. And frankly, it usually comes from folks who, unlike Donald J. Trump, have been in office for decades and decades and decades and so that certainly applies to the two people you just mentioned,” she said — referring to Cuomo and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
