Robert Kenneth Hume; warrant issued
The other day we talked about Robert Kenneth Hume from San Diego, California who applied for a job as chief of the Marietta, Georgia Fire Department. Of course, he saw a need to pump up his resume with some phony military service and a forged DD214 discharge record. Hume also applied for a similar job a year ago in the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District (NACFD) but he couldn’t be bothered to answer his phone for the telephonic interview. He also applied for a chief job earlier this year in Escambia County, Florida where he had to compete with 76 other candidates. He applied for a fire chief job in Harlington, Texas in July 2014. Hume really wants to be a fire chief – even in Boulder, Colorado, earlier this year.
Anyway, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, there is now a warrant issued in Georgia for Mr Hume;
An arrest warrant for Robert Kenneth Hume accuses him of submitting paperwork to officials in Marietta, Ga., showing he’d earned military honors — including a Silver Star — that he did not actually receive, and showing that he’d achieved a higher rank than he did while serving in the U.S. Army.
An email to Hume on Thursday was met with a call from attorney David S. West, Hume’s lawyer in Georgia. West said his new client will go to Georgia to surrender himself and address the matter.
“Right now we don’t have any comment on the reason this occurred or what may have happened — but I can tell you that he retained me, and we are going to appear and address this,” West said.
“He’s not running away from this. He wants to deal with it. Within the next couple of days we are going to have a chance to get the warrant taken care of.”
Maybe all of those places where he applied for a fire chief job should compare his resumes.

Dear Esquire West:
The reason “this” occurred is Robert Kenneth Hume is a fucking liar.
Feel free to soak him for as much money as possible before losing your case.
And get it in cash.
Just mention that his military records are stored in a closed military hospital somewhere in Panama, AKA The Ladner Maneuver. Works every time.
Oooh, this is gonna be fun to watch unfold. Popcorn, anyone? I bet Robert Kenneth Hume will be grubbing around like the Bony Eared Assfish that he is! (Google that, it’s actually safe for work)
The funniest part of the story is that the Human Resources Director in Georgia (that Robert Kenneth Hume sent his resume to) is a Retired Army PAC NCO.
May Robert Kenneth Hume have many, many NPDs (No Pay Due) until the end of time.
He’s actually a retired officer and former S-1.
I would have loved to have seen his face as he reviewed that forged 214
“Right now we don’t have any comment on the reason this occurred or what may have happened — but I can tell you that he retained me, and we are going to appear and address this,” West said.
Translation: I am billing this dumb sonovabitch about $150 an hour, received a health up front deposit, and will milk this shit for all it is worth.
Stupidity should be painful. And expensive.
ROBERT KENNETH HUME’S squeakhole is going to be when the boys at the BTJT Deli (Home of the WORLD FAMOUS Cockmeat Sammich) get a hold of it…
Another translation, “I will speak for and defend him all the way to his last dollar.”
I’m with MPD. And was a detective there for 6 years. This wingnut didn’t understand that most of us are veterans. Either that or are in the reserves or guard. One detective is a CPO, another was a Blackhawk crew chief for many years. The detective commander was in the guard and his spouse is currently serving. There’s a few Marines in there and one airborne guy that made the 173rd combat jump in Iraq, but you have to wave a green light in his face to get him to do anything.
Home never stood a chance. This was interesting to watch and see how it played out.
PO, you’ve just made my day! Thanks for posting, and please keep us up on the ensuing festivities.
Will do. As the article said, our HR director was a human resource officer in the Navy. We actually hired him on retirement, I believe. He is a great guy to work with and not your typical HR scary person. He’s a team oriented kind of guy. I’m glad to see that he doesn’t have any tolerance for this crap.
The charges that were secured are the same types of charges that Shane Ladner was convicted of last year. But this is Cobb County, not Cherokee County. Big difference.
Mmmmmmm, popcorn…
Army, not Navy ;).
If Hume wants to be fire chief that badly, he should incorporate his own town where he can be fire chief and Ladner can be the police chief…
D, my mistake.
No worries. It’s a small world on here.
It gets that way.
CH, that would be a bad town to be in. While there’s no law about felons and fire hoses, there are ones about felons and guns. Ladner would have to work without arms.
I ran across a mention that he faked his fire service as well, listing only one department on his applications and resume that no longer exists, and that he could not possibly have belonged to. Like Jonn frequently says, SV is usually only the tip of the iceberg.
I’m also in the area on occasion (waves hello to Planet Ord – wave back whenever you pass Bldg 447 at the CNGC!), work with a couple of retired CCFD and MFD guys, and they are flabbergasted that this loon even sent in paperwork for the position. They’ve had their share of weirdos and idiots of rank, of course, including a breathtakingly incompetent FF who was run up the ranks quickly to keep herself from being KIA on a fireground, and ended up as the FC of a foreign nation’s department, but never one that didn’t start out in their own rookie schools. Or at least someone else’s for-real department rookie school!
Guy wants in bad. Must be some under lie ing reason.
It’s a job that pays big and looks semi-cushy to the uninitiated, but which is darn difficult and highly stressful if its done right.
that depends on the system. The fire chief in my home town did precisely dick for his salary. I suspect that may be true in many jurisdictions.
3 to 1 odds that he doesn’t show up in Georgia to take care of the warrant as his attorney claims.
3-1? Who’s your bookie? That must be the in-state odds. Mine has him listed at 500-1 if he’s still in California, 100-1 if’s two or more states north or west of Geogia but not in California, and 25-1 if he’s in a border state.
Hmm. Wonder if taking up a collection and offering it to the appropriate LE office in Cobb County to fund Hume’s extradition would be allowable?
If so, count me in for at least $50.
I’m sure his Lawyer will gracefully bill him $150-350 and hour for his efforts, my question is WILL Robert Kenneth Hume actually cough up the money or will he skip out and swim off like the bony eared assfish he truly is?
Client retains atty and the check clears.
Client tells atty he’ll surrender on a warrant.
Atty tells world client will surrender.
Client does not surrender.
In a letter to the Marietta, Georgia PD the Atty. could write;
To Hume it may concern, my client is an idiot.
How can he apply for the position of fire chief? Don’t you have to work your way up to it? Or does that only happen in cities like Chicago, where you also have to know a lot of people, especially on the South Side?
Around here, PH2, they hire police and fire chiefs from the inside and the outside. A lot of highly qualified people make it to just below the top. Then they apply to other jurisdictions to be chief.
That being said, you cannot get hired into any other leadership positions. You have to work your way up from the bottom. I’m not sure why it’s different in other places, but it works.
What a loser.
Lock him up!
Looks like Hume showed up after all: https://www.ajc.com/news/crime–law/marietta-fire-chief-applicant-surrenders-forgery-charge/Xxcy8jYf02oCYKTtFJfC0M/
I hope they don’t let him off easy.
I grew up in Campo and still have family there. This guy, aside from being a bag of shit with feet and eyes, is woefully unqualified to be dogcatcher, let alone a Fire Chief. He was, if I remember correctly, a Captain on the Campo Volunteer FD (served a population of maybe 3000) which has since been absorbed by the SD County Fire Authority. He even, at one point, sued the Fire Department for having let him go from his volunteer position for costs associated with having to drive to another location to volunteer–I forget the exact reason they let him go, so I’m not going to say why lest I get it wrong. The judge was unimpressed and made the logical ruling that Mr. Hume doesn’t *have* to volunteer anywhere and doesn’t make a living doing so and therefore, Campo FD (a small non-profit with very little money) owed him nothing (go Judge!). I was in the courtroom for this, so this isn’t hearsay on my part.
