Florida boy meets Baker Act and Sheriff Grady Judd
Associated Press reports that Polk County, Florida Sheriff’s deputies found an inebriated 13-year-old boy sleeping on a sidewalk. He claimed that he drank an entire bottle of liquor that he snagged from his parents’ liquor cabinet and that he planned to shoot up his junior high school in retaliation for being suspended for threatening to kill classmates, so the authorities used the Baker Act to involuntarily put him in the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation;
Investigators searched the boy’s PlayStation at his home in Davenport, which is between Orlando and Tampa, and said they found pictures of the suspected Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz as well as images of the Columbine High School shooting in Colorado.
They said the boy also made troubling statements — including that he wanted to die and see God, and that he wanted to kill students who had “snitched” on him before he was expelled. He also said he had buried a handgun in a neighbor’s backyard to keep his mother from finding it. The Polk Sheriff’s statement said a gun was not found, but they did learn that the boy had made similar statements in Osceola County, where deputies accused him in an affidavit of making written threats to kill.
The problem with school safety isn’t guns, it’s the culture that tells folks that it’s OK to shoot up your school to retaliate for perceived slights to your so-called honor.

That’s what happens when a Jurisdiction has proactive and competent Law Enforcement, crime gets prevented. If the Cowards of Broward had done like Sheriff Judd and his Department those kids would still be alive and unharmed.
This guy is in the county next to mine, he is a real deal cop and don’t mess around with criminals. I remember on one occasion where his men shot a cop killer 72 times. When asked by the press on the number of wounds, he simply said, we ran out of bullets! I love this guy!!!
He also said “If you shoot at us, we’re going to shoot back…a lot”.
Polk County has what is called the “Sentinel Program” which allows teachers and staff to receive 132 hours of training and then become a “special deputy” which allows them to carry concealed weapons on school campuses.
So far, only two colleges in the county have adopted the program, but the basics of the program was put into a bill signed by Governor Rick Scott after the Parkland shooting.
Awesome! lets hope those two are only the first of many!

Sheriff Judd and his Deputies saved this boy’s life and who knows how many others by doing exactly what a Sheriff’s department is supposed to. Can we Xerox a few hundred copies of him? Broward County is just south of Palm Beach County where I live And Sheriff Bradshaw is in charge. According to the NRA, he is not a gun friendly person so it is a wait and see if God forbid, a tragedy happens up here.

Why do the teachers need 132 hours of training to conceal carry in the school?
They are not going to team up and clear the rooms in a stack
They are going to lock the doors, line the kids up against a wall or behind available cover and point their pistol at the door
When the shooter enters the doorway, open fire
I could see getting some training, and practice, hopefully with some live fire in a shoot house
132 hours seems like overkill
