A bump stock ban?
CNN reports, happily, that the president has asked his Justice Department to propose ways to ban the sale of “bump stocks”. Bump stocks enable a gun man to pull the trigger on a semi-automatic once and the recoil of the weapon is used to more quickly fire the weapon – faster than the person would be able to pull the trigger without the device. As you can imagine, the weapon is difficult to control and it is less accurate than it would be otherwise.
n fact, if it was up to me, I’d make it a requirement that criminals had to use bump stocks and 100-round magazines. Large capacity magazines are notoriously subject to jamming, so used in conjunction with bump stocks, semi-automatic weapons are less likely to hurt people. But, hey, what do I know?
Congressional gun grabbers see an opportunity;
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a California Democrat who submitted a bill last year in the Senate that would ban bump stocks, welcomed Trump’s support for a ban but cautioned that new agency rules could fail because of the ATF’s past stance on the devices.
“If ATF tries to ban these devices after admitting repeatedly that it lacks the authority to do so, that process could be tied up in court for years, and that would mean bump stocks would continue to be sold,” Feinstein said.
“Legislation is the only answer,” she said. “Words are one thing, Mr. President, but we need meaningful action.”
Of course, gun grabbers in Florida tried to effect an “assault weapon ban” in their state and the measure failed yesterday, according to Associated Press.
Less than a week after 17 people were fatally shot at a Florida high school, the state House has voted down a motion to take up a bill that would ban assault rifles, effectively killing the measure for this session.
The motion failed by a 36-71 vote.
Well, I think the next school shooter already has his gun and his ammo. In Illinois, a 15-year-old from Round Lake Beach is cooling his heels in jail because he made threats on social media. In Everett, Washington, 18-year-old Joshua Alexander O’Connor’s grandmother reported him to police when she discovered his plans to use bombs in a school.
The IndyStar reports that “10 Indiana districts have investigated either a real or rumored copycat threat since Feb. 14.” According to Virginian-Pilot “five students have been charged: a Virginia Beach Middle School student; a 17-year-old from Smithfield High; a 14-year-old from Norfolk’s Lake Taylor Middle; and two children, ages 11 and 13, from Norview Middle in Norfolk.”
The West Virginia Gazette reports that “Thursday’s alleged threat against George Washington High School by a student was followed by more statewide threats, news releases, criminal charges against students, fears among parents and increased burdens on law enforcement. The majority of threats were unfounded, investigators said, but at least four were serious enough to warrant criminal charges or other discipline.”
Cleveland, Ohio’s Fox8 reports threats at four area schools. The Detroit Free Press reports that school security has been increased at city schools due to threats.
The problem isn’t guns, it’s cultural, banning guns won’t stop killers from killing by any means necessary.

Trump just became a one-term president and the repukes just handed both houses to the democrats.
Ok, Chicken Little. The sky has fallen.
Dude, don’t eat the ‘srooms.
DON’T EAT the daisies either!!!
No! Those are Yef’s daisies!
Graybeard, the ‘shrooms won’t become available until July, when the Ren Faire opens up.
Take the plastic wrapper off the cigar before you light it next time. mmmkay?
Meh. This seems like a concession, but is it? As Jonn ably pointed out, automatic fire is pretty pointless to an actual gun expert who isn’t trying to destroy an enemy bunker. So why not throw the idiots a cookie so they’ll think they’ve got some progress and shut up for a while?
Or not. We control all three branches and most state legislatures. Let the gun grabbers and their props (when you suffer a tragedy and, within a week, you’re emoting at the statehouse for the media cameras in an effort to pass meaningless legislation, you are a prop) go piss up a tree.
Yeah but if you give them an inch, they’ll take a light-year.
First it’s bump stocks, and when they proves to be ineffective at stopping people form murdering others, then they’ll want to ban bayonet lugs (again), or detachable magazines, or fluted barrels…
This ban is just as disgusting and dangerous as any of the other crap the gun grabbers have tried to pass and get banned. They won’t stop even if bump stocks are banned.
Should read “when that proves”
Should also read “This potential ban”.
I suck as proofreading.
Oh, I know. Leftists love moving the goalposts. It’s the nature of “progress”.
Conservatives are advocating what is already there. That’s why my politics never change. Fifteen years ago, I wanted the government to provide a military, secure the border and pretty much mind their own business beyond that.
For liberals, however, fifteen years ago, they wanted sodomy to be legal. Well, they got that. Then they wanted gay marriage. Got that. Now they’re fighting for transgenders and next they’ll be fighting for pedophiles. After that, my imagination isn’t even fucked up enough to see.
It’s the same thing on guns. My views are clear- until you harm someone else, or prove a la Cruz that you are dangerous, you should be able to own whatever you want. There’s no goalpost moving here- once this goal is perfected, I’m not going to start advocating that civilians can buy rocket launchers and Fighting Falcons. But leftists will argue against assault rifles today, against handguns tomorrow, and against derringers on Friday.
No reason to trust them at all. No compromise, ever.
Whether to own or not own firearms IS the compromise. Freedom to choose.
Kinda like, folks are not really required to have auto insurance unless they own/drive an automobile. Responsible gun ownership doesn’t attach until you own one. Don’t want the responsibility? Don’t own one.
This really isn’t all that difficult.
Drugs are bad, m’kay?
Yup.
President Trump is being very stupid on this if it indeed bans bumpfire and binary triggers. He’s not held his word regarding anything firearms from the campaign, but to capitulate to gun grabbers like this is simply inexcusable horse shit.
The NRA being worthless fudd cunts in support of this to appease their mega rich donors that own automatics is incredibly transparent. NRA is the biggest fraud of them all when it comes to the 2nd amendment. They’ve been in lockstep will all major gun bans and idiots still support that trojan horse organization as though it does anything except exist to turn a profit.
Don’t eat yellow snow, dude…
And he started into whippin on my favorite baby seal,
With a lead filled snow shoe…
WRONG!
Maryland student arrested with gun had cache of weapons, grievances
USA Today
“This is a scholarship student. He’s an athlete and honor-roll student.”
Not anymore. He can go to a state run, max security “boarding school” of the judge’s choosing, preferably for a period of 1-20 years.
what I always want to know is where these 18 and 19 year olds are getting the money for all of these weapons?
I’m sure the parental stand ins have no idea….
Welfare, EBT etc.
Foodstamps for Firearms!
“He’s just a scared kid”
No, he’s just a felon.
Like D and SARC, I’m not inclined to be nice here.
I support gun rights. 100%. When you fuck up with a gun though, the penalty should be severe.
I get a real kick out of lefties who scream about these things like rape culture and gun violence and want to make life miserable for the law-abiding but have no desire to crush the law-breakers.
Oh, against rape, are ya? Do you want to try rapists and hang them? I do. Let’s start with Harvey.
You want to ban “assault rifles”? I want to ban people who use “assault rifles” to commit crime. The firing squad is an acceptable method.
No, no, no. You don’t want to do any of that. It’d probably affect people of color, disproportionately. You just want to feel good about yourselves by punishing people like me, whose worst crime is speeding.
That is why the answer is still NO.
Not just no, but FUCK NO !!!!!!
“I support gun rights. 100%. When you fuck up with a gun though, the penalty should be severe.”
DITTO THAT!!! And FUCK passing more laws, just fuckin’ enforce the ones we already have!
API, that should be a mandatory billboard every 50 miles on the interstate. “Just Enforce The Laws We Have” (and “Do Your Job, FBI, quit looking for Ghost Russians In The Bushes”!)
(rustle, rustle, bitch)
I am sick and tired of hearing the term “assault rifle” my deer rifle was a semi automatic winchester model 100…PERIOD.. but these a.h.’s would call it an assault rifle!
He’s not a scared kid. He got caught. That’s what scared him.
I would bet money his doting parents had not idea what went on in his little pointy head.
If they would stop glorifying these nutjobs in the press and stop giving them coverage a lot of this crap would stop.
Yep!
We’ve had several #metoo threats amongst campus in the local school district this week where I live.
Stupid attention whores. C’mon parents – step up your game.
Everyone, EVERYONE, whether a Christian, atheist, agnostic, or just a.h. should be posting EVERYWHERE, to demand Bible study and prayer are put back in school and allowed, also in the workplace….you never heard of ANY of this crap in the 50’s, where we had occasional prayer, pledge of allegiance…we all respected each other, if we didn’t we just went out behind the school and had a fight, mostly a wrestling match! but NO SHOOTING, we all had gun racks in our trucks and went hunting regularly, but NOT people, because we knew we answered to a higher power..the Bible says DO NOT MURDER! We all know in our hearts that this is NOT the end, there is life after life, but where you spend it is the important thing, Peace, Paradise, Beauty, Love, friendship…..or eternal torture in hell designed for the devil and his angels….your choice, but at least let the kids know so they can make THEIR CHOICE! We have a boatload more gun control laws now than in the 50’s, yet we had NO school shootings in the 50’s ?? any common sense out there? imho
reply report comment
I blame the parents for all of this. All of it.
yep! if they had taken those kids to church from the time they were little, this would NOT have happened…!
Ban thumbs and belt loops, too. I’m not a fan of bump stocks, but this is feel good legislation and would stop exactly zero gun crimes.
Well, when all of the options won’t stop gun crimes, I guess I’d rather see bump fire stocks banned than any of the other choices. I mean, the “do something, anything” crowd gets something.
“I mean, the “do something, anything” crowd gets something.”
Trick is to make ’em think they won the best victory ever.
The problem is it’ll never be good enough. Look at this DACA crap. Dems wanted amnesty for 750k, Trump comes up with a plan that more than doubles that, but they hate it. And he’s still Hitler.
He lets them prove just how mentally ill they really are.
No..the trick is to tell them to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine and stop WHINING!
I think bump stocks are ridulous…but! Those NWO pukes, dumocraps, leftists, communists, liberals et al get their foot in the door they don’t stop! (see my other option above about getting prayer back in school) thats an option that WORKS!
I thought we established a while back that you can use rubber bands to do what bump stocks do.
So just how is banning the bump stock going to be effective? Oh, that’s right – it belongs in the ‘we did SOMETHING’ category, the sigh of relief, wiping the sweat off the forehead, and getting a manicure as a reward for ‘doing something’.
What a load of baloney.
You got that right!
Whether the bump stock ban heads anywhere or not, I’d like to see a federal register definition of “assault rifle/weapon” enacted that specifies it as a military grade, select-fire rifle. So the news will stop using the made-up “assault” terminology on semi-auto modern sport rifles.
They’ll never do that since select fire rifles are already well controlled.
the news cares nothing about accuracy in reporting anyway
A simple photo of the selector switch differences would suffice for a reasonable person but we don’t have those. Reasonable persons that is….there are plenty of photos.
The three golden tenets of modern journalism~
1. If it bleeds, it leads.
2. If it smells, it sells.
3. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
The media’s main job is selling advertising, therefore creating controversy is good for them.
No matter how big a foul up they make, they can always print a small font retraction on page 284 next week.
You forgot one….”getting votes for the worst assholes in the nation”! imho
It’s simple. If it doesn’t have a giggle switch, it’s not an assault ANYTHING.
Bump stocks are retarded. Should they be banned? No, because they make it easy to identify the dipshits.
Anybody can make one with wood door shims and rubber bands.
legal for 10 years…one guy goes on a murder spree, blame the bump stock.
lemme know how that works out in the grand scheme of crime statistics
I’ll take, “Not one fucking iota,” for $1000, Alex.
Well, whatever, DiFi. Keep on blathering about stuff which has no positive impact on the safety of children or anyone else.
Meanwhile I have no interest in owning a bumpstock, but If I want to use one as a paperweight or bookend, what business is it of yours, DiFi? Why don’t you outlaw scary black SUV’s? They kill a bunch of people each year, and I don’t like them. Besides, no one really needs one especially if they have those great big tires.
The same DiFi who said if she had the votes she’d have pushed for total confiscation, but who has the incredibly elusive California CCW permit that even most CA cops can’t get.
The same DiFi who thinks it’s legal to hunt humans?

There they go again, conflating the the Second Amendment and duck hunting.
Yeah, that senile bitch.
My former governor, the wondrous Mr. Ventura:
http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=93626&page=1
I don’t care about Bump Stocks being banned, what with all the crazy anti-gun legislation going through Olympia right now…that is the least of my worries.
-Trying to expand Domestic Violence to include harassment
-Making us lock up fire arms, and allowing LEO to come into our homes for spot inspections
I’m so tired of the carpetbaggers coming here trying to make this place like the socialist paradises they fled from.
https://act.nraila.org/default.aspx
Careful what ya don’t care about, because that can lead to having to eventually say, “They did what?”
I know, believe me I’m a regular contributor to my legislator’s in-boxes.
“Making us lock up fire arms, and allowing LEO to come into our homes for spot inspections”
What Constitutional Scholar came up with this gem?
It might be one of the ones that ‘Sideshow’ Bob Ferguson our Attorney General sent over to the legislature for consideration.
By the way, this dickhead expanded the role of his office, which use to just look over CCL reciprocity between our state and others.
He’s looking to become the next Governor after Dimslee shoots for some higher office.
Your Attorney General seems cut from the same cloth as the PDRofMD’s own AG Brian Frosh, who never met a gun control law he didn’t like.
Quite possibly a student of Professor Barack Obama, he’s a constitutional scholar, ya know.
I don’t think taking guns away from law-abiding people is a good solution either… but don’t you think guns are a part of the culture? This seems to be one of the big differences between us and Canada, Australia, etc., where gun crime is much less common, no?
A much lesser part of the problem than the culture of the people committing crimes with guns. 2/3 of gun deaths are suicides, the bulk of the remainder are drug/gang related. A better question would be why so many think a gun is the first solution to an issue?
No disagreement there – I understand that ‘mass shooting’ deaths are only a tiny fraction of the overall gun deaths. My frustration is simply the unwillingness of both sides to admit the obvious – that guns are part of the problem, and that banning them won’t stop the violence.
France has very strict gun laws. France has more mass shootings per capita than the USA. There are a bunch of Euro countries ahead of us on that list.
https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/sorry-despite-gun-control-advocates-claims-u-s-isnt-the-worst-country-for-mass-shootings/
The shitbag in Florida got away with his mayhem, because the already existing laws were not enforced. Local and federal both ignored specific, credible, timely, and actionable information. Unless and until the existing laws are enforced, it is illogical, sheer folly stupid, to demand more laws.
Chicago pulls all sorts of sawed off shotguns and rifles off crooks during arrests. They almost -never- prosecute this “ten years in federal pen” crime, despite the obvious societal advantage of sending violent crooks away for ten years. Instead, it is the first plea bargain offered. Hmmm.
So let us stop with the more laws now!” Crap. First, let’s try actually enforcing what we have. Otherwise, new laws serve exactly zero purpose, and do nothing.
Unless of course “doing nothing” is your goal, so we can keep passing greater restrictions, that also fail and “require greater restrictions.”
No.
I think murder is a big part of the culture as is glorification of gangster lifestyles and behavior. The music that demeans women and glorifies killing over turf or words all contributes to a state of morality that is somewhat less than stellar.
I know people like to dismiss media and its effects, but today we have become a society that believes a movie showing teenagers being slaughtered is more acceptable than a movie showing a blowjob….when most of our kids are far more likely to be involved in some aspect of the latter rather than the former.
Minimizing death as part of the culture desensitizes us to the pain of others. We become spectators without feeling.
Of course it’s always wise to point out that we still have a far, far lower murder rate than we used to in the 80s and 90s…and mass shootings kill less than 300 people a year typically which is about three quarters of the number of people who die from falling out of their beds in their sleep. So a law requiring all beds to have sideboards would actually save more lives than a stupid bump stock ban. But I doubt we’ll much action on the bed sideboard issue.
I certainly don’t disagree with you – I think anything we’re exposed to can influence us. When you have music that demeans women and glorifies violence, of course it has an effect – maybe not on everyone, and certainly it isn’t going to magically make someone into a women-beating killer, but for a select few, it reinforces that that is okay. And yes, the same with Hollywood.
My issue is when the gun community is just as disingenuous as all these other aspects of our culture in claiming zero influence. Not responsibility, influence. I’m honestly unsure how to weigh ‘responsibility’ here. My point, though, is that claiming guns had nothing to do with it is a dogmatic and false position, when the better argument is acknowledging they played a role, but that the right of countless good, legal owners can’t be usurped because a small handful did something bad.
I’ve lost friends to drunk drivers; I don’t ask that alcohol be banned, even though it clearly played a role. It’d be crazy to suggest that alcohol had nothing to do with a drunk driver hitting another car and killing everyone in it, though.
Guns are inanimate objects, not magic talismans. They have no influence on humans. None.
Guns do not make killers, any more than forks make fat people, or computers make authors.
You are too intelligent for that sort of “talisman” shamanism.
The problem I see with your argument is that you’re assigning blame, if only a tiny fraction, to inanimate objects.
The gun was a tool used by a murderer. Just as the alcohol was used by the drunk. You could blame the car he drove as much as you can blame the alcohol. Or blame the salt shaker for putting too much salt in my dinner causing me to have to beat my spouse.
It’s the people, not the items around us that cause problems. It is easier for us to assign blame to these things because it makes it easier to rationalize why somebody does something so reprehensible. Some things are just beyond our ability to control, the freewill of another is one of those things.
The comparison between guns and alcohol is bogus. The difference between alcohol and guns is that alcohol has the capability to impair people’s judgment when consumed in excess, guns by themselves do not impair anyone’s judgment. If you polish off a fifth of scotch you likely will impair your judgment and definitely will impair your motor skills. If you excessively target shoot firearms for several hours, all you may get is tired arms and a recoil bruised shoulder. Your judgment will be unaffected.
I will add, rgr769, that if one concedes that guns are part of the problem, then addressing guns in some fashion must necessarily be part of the solution. It’s a trap door, but one not well disguised. The problem is–and always has been– the shooter.
How about people demand some “CLEAN” movies without mass slaughter and unnecessary sex?
“don’t you think guns are a part of the culture?”
No, they are part of the Constitution.
So is free speech,… and yet we have restrictions on it. Arguably to improve society. I’m no more for taking away the right to bear arms than you are, I assume, for taking away one’s right to free speech – yet, I imagine, you support Stolen Valor laws? Which courts have argued fall under the domain of free speech.
Are we better, as a country, for allowing people to claim they’re space-shuttle door gunners with SEAL/SF/RECON badges? Or are sensible restrictions to improve society not the end of the world?
“So is free speech,… and yet we have restrictions on it…..”
You had to ignore a lot of reality as well as twist the law at a right angle to even set that post up. Quite a feat of grammatical gymnastics. 🙂
Really? How so? I mean that sincerely. I don’t see a difference. The right to free speech is not absolute, is it? There are numerous restrictions on it. And yet, we’re still pretty free – the restrictions serve a purpose.
I’m all ears, I want to understand this better. I just don’t see how this was grammatical gymnastics.
You may be all ears but I’m all bunghole
Speech is a vague concept open to interpretation. In a nutshell, everything and anything is speech. Ask a liberal.
The second amendment is concise and to the point.
Prior restraint is almost always banned by prior supreme court decisions stretching back 200 years.
The crime is -falsely- yelling fire ina crowd, not saying “fire”.
One does not need a permit to “press”. Or “speak”, or “worship”.
Criminalize actual acts of violence, not your imaginary Wingdings and untreated phobias.
Target your laws on the lawless, not the lawful.
Your sophistry fails, again.
We already have restrictions on gun ownership, similar to the reasonable restrictions on free speech, or the exigencies allowed for the state (police) to violate the fourth and fifth amendments.
I can’t cause a riot by yelling that the bank is running out of money or yell “Fire!” in a crowded theater. Similarly, I can’t own a machine gun or a nuclear missile (as much as I want one :(). The police can also force entry into a house without a warrant if they can satisfy one of the exigencies the SCOTUS has upheld.
actually, we do not have free speech in the USA at this point. Ever heard of “hate crimes”?
You are making the case that judges DO NOT HAVE THE HEADS UP THEIR COMMUNIST ASSES, and we know better!
You can remove the guns, the maladjusted will transition something else like pipe bombs. You can legislate pipe and they’ll start using machetes. Outlaw knives, they’ll try to plow down kids with a truck.
The real problem is our approach to mentally ill folks with violent tendencies and the desire to ‘get recognized’ and ‘feel important’. People tend to ignore them til it’s too late then go on the news immediately afterwards for their own 15 minutes of fame to say that they “always figured he was going to lose it one day”, OR “He was so quiet, angry, and withdrawn. We figured he might come out of his shell if we bought him an AK. We never saw this coming”.
Also as WW mentioned, a lot of the blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the media and politicians who publicize this stuff endlessly to suit their agendas and generate revenue through clicks or donations. It might as well be a lighthouse beacon to draw in the marginalized kids who think they’re being ignored or bullied and want to feel more powerful and ‘make a statement’.
Bring back asylums and institute mandatory Psych holds on anyone who “jokes” about killing a bunch of people. As painful as it is, there are some folks that you can not just try to integrate into society and think that everything will go OK. If the warning signs are there, don’t just pray that they will get better.
Guns are not the disease that are killing all these kids, they just happen to be the delivery vector of choice that is used by the disease and its parasites.

Nichols and McVeigh used farming chemicals and a rented truck to kill and injure a large number of people in Oklahoma City.
The Boston Marathon bombers used a common household object, a pressure cooker, as a means of creating several bombs that killed and injured a large number of people.
The 9/11/01 hijackers used four passenger aircraft to kill thousands of people in three different cities.
LC, you don’t address the real issue at all, which is intent by someone, some blighted idiot with a hair up his backside about imagined wrongs and slights and a ‘get even, get THEM’ attitude. That’s which way the wind blows, you sap.
It isn’t the means of destruction. It is the person/people behind it that is the issue. When you figure that out, let the rest of us know, okay?
Yes, they are part of our culture and our constitution. It America’s culture is owning a defense mechanism that prevents tyranny, then I am ALL for it. Its pussified fuck boys who claim the reason behind the murders are because of guns(an inanimate object) and refuse to put the onus on the parents of mal-adjusted children and/or the onus on those who genuinely need psychiatric help.
Personal responsibility is more apt the issue than a gun.
If you want to use the Canada claim, look who the queen on their money is; here’s a hint, she aint in Canada.
Cheers,
MrFace
Come on, get aboard the proggie train, confiscating guns from law-abiding citizens is what all self-respecting progtards want. That is why they keep yapping about what a fabulous success it was/is in Australia. The Ozzie “buy-back” scheme was just really, really “fair” and it will prevent all gun crime here. All the felons and gang-bangers will just say, “welp, I is givin up mah gunz and going strate.” Get with the real program of your fellow travelers.
It was really, really ,really fair, one of my mates got paid in error three times for the same shotgun.
Eek! Get rid of scary bump stocks! If it only saves one life! Think of the children!
Aren’t you still suffering from the PTSD’s that the rest of you caught after firing a round from an AR-15 type rifle that one time?
Love your Wiki page.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gersh_Kuntzman
If an AR-15 gave you PTSD, here, try out this Desert Eagle!
If they want my bump-stock, they’ll have to get through my chainsaw bayonet first!
Marcus…izzat you?
My 9 inch cast iron skillet and wasp killer!
I’d like to see them try.
When I was a kid Massachusetts outlawed those “suicide knobs” that attach to a steering wheel. You can argue that one could mow down more people faster with one of those.
They were great for spin outs, fish tailing etc. I lost mine in a boating mishap.
I had one of those on my steering wheel when I was a Trucker, they were made and marketed as Pump Valve Knobs, no shit!
Suicide knobs? That’s a new one. In California they were called “necker’s knobs” and the purpose was apparently so that when you were driving your deuce coupe, it made it easier to comb your duck-tail or cop a feel on your girlfriend.
They were probably Trump’s fault…
I think you are referring to a different kind of knob.
Wow 26L; They went out with the floor dimmers and no bucket seat cars and those spring curb feelers.
As Id sarc said, literally thousands of people have bumpstocks
One person used them to murder people at a concert
It is already illegal to murder people at a concert
It is against the law to crash a plane on them, drive a truck at them and set off a firebomb at a concert
So how does banning my bumpstocks help anything?
I have them on several guns and everyone who uses them is smiling
They are a lot of fun!
“It is against the law to crash a plane on them”.
I want to know if it is illegal for a disbarred lawer to crash a tree into longleaf pine trees in Lee County, Florida. If so, as a resident of the Bikini State, could I start a suit to sue his “Trust”?
“Crash a tree”? Whaaat? Crash a light sport plane, uh, my dog made me hit post, before proofing the comment, or something.
Ban flying trees! 🙂 🙂
When they outlaw flying trees, only outlaws will have flying trees!
You can have my flying tree when you pry it from my cold, dead hands!
The libtards will feel stupid (not really) when people just rent a bobtail truck from U-haul and run over a crowded marketplace or pull a timothy mcveigh.
Or let nature take its course with the Tide Pod Challenge.

They are pretty effective, though. At converting your ammunition into reloadable brass.
The Ban Hammer will solve all!!!

Has anyone actually READ the memo? I did.
The BATF bump stock rule proposal process began shortly after the Las Vegas shooting. The public, as usual, was asked for comment. Thousands of comments rolled in, and are still being read and tabulated.
The Trump memo said, in essence, hurry up with the process and tell me what the public wants. That’s it. No ban order. No regulation order. No Class III yet.
Well, at least New Jersey is doing important stuff this week – they’re finally banning .50 caliber rifles and they’ll put an end to all of those BMG crimes. You know, all of those Camden gangbangers carrying 30 pound, $6,000 Barrets under their jackets.
The snubbie model of the Barrett M82A1 is a stealthy 48 inches LOA.
NBA pocket pistol 🙂
…and that ^^^ is probably the only time I have referenced the NBA in my life
Had a supposed Gunners Mate tell me one time that the “BMG” in the description of a Ma Deuce stood for “Basic” Machine Gun and the “HB” stood for “Hydraulic Buffer.”/smile

It’s horrifying!
It’s so easy to get those.

“My toe hurts”.
“Okay, young man, we will amputate your left ear (VanGough Syndrome) to treat the pain in your toe”.
Assault rifle ban? I have never seen the STG 44 Sturmgewehr 44 used in mass shootings. Before I moved to Florida, I had a collection of an AR-15, AR-180, HK 91, HK 93, Spanish Cetme, Valmet AK varient, SIG 514. None of these ever walked out of the rack and opened fire on anyone. I got this stuff back in the 70’s, early 80’2 at a time where people never heard of the stuff I owned until they came into vogue. Ended up selling them. Just have two .22 break away pump gallery guns.
Lost mine in that one boating accident. Guns are bad.
They go off.
No one needs them.
Just have 911 on speed dial but first know your area code.
And for God’s sake, post “Gun Free Zone” placards everywhere!
I think Trump realized the Vegas Massacre wasn’t done by someone who was trying to as accurate as possible. The guy just wanted to unload as much ammo onto a large crowd at that concert as quick as he could and the bump stock enabled him to do so.
Because he used that idiot toy, almost all his shots were misses. If he had used the rifle as built, he would likely have increased his hits by a factor of four, or even ten.
He had trouble hitting a – crowd – with those things. His use of them -saved- lives, probably hundreds of them.
“Bump stocks” are simply another way to get to “ban!” By establishing a false “ you don’t need … / we don’t like ..” BS matrix.
No.
How do you know most of his shots were misses? You have a link?
No links, and I’m not an 11-B, Mailclerk or otherwise, but I do remember the coverage at the time indicating that a lot/most of the shots hit inanimate objects and various stuff around the venue.
The police reports include vastly higher “rounds fired” than “humans hit”. That is typical in mass shootings, by the way. In the case of the Las Vegas shooter, there was an extremly high miss to hit ratio.
That is what happens when you combine spray-fire and large distance, fire from things not designed for sustained fire, by someone not trained in use of automatic fire, using cheap-junk gimmicks like “bump stocks”.
But dont take my word for it. Go re-read the police info, and go discuss “bump-fire” with folks (say like me) who work occasionally as range safety officers on rifle ranges.
Not surprised to see so many fudds willing to give up yet another thing because it doesn’t inconvenience them.
I remember Donalad Trump’s claims during the campaign that he would revert Obama’s unconstitutional EO’s on firearms, and he did none of it. Now he wants to arbitarily ban bump stocks which would only legitimately occur if the ATF redefined what a machine gun is and idiots are cheering for it.
If they want to ban bumpstocks why allow the rich to keep their automatics? Might as well confiscate those as well. Otherwise it’s clearly a class thing and last time I checked the 2nd amendment said nothing about those that can’t afford to spend tens of thousands of dollars on legal automatics shall be denied the option to turn money into noise.
This is part of the problem.those buzzgun toys are insanely pricey, from a totally artificial and useless closing of the registry. Relatively well off folks who bought their $25, 000 M16 do not want anything increasing the supply, thus reducing the market price for these high-dollar assets.
Some of those folks would – joyfully- throw the rest of us under the bus so as not to lose their investment.
And some other high- dollar folks, who have lawyers to handle the trust/permit/campaign-slush don’t mind if us riff-raff get shafted and disarmed.
No. Not banning his big rifle, nor her little handgun, nor his too fast toy, nor her too far toy, nor those ugly ones, nor the cheap ones, nor the weird ones.
No. “Shall not be infringed” was not “unless someone doesn’t like you”.
Quite simply, fuck these Jim Crow laws.
Amen.
If you can replace a bumpstock with a belt loop, then why care if they ban bump stocks? It takes a stupid item off the market, and you all can still go thumb your pants and shoot fully auto, and it makes the left feel good. We can compromise, cant we?
And I love living in Clarksburg, MD. the neighborhood is losing their minds over this kid
The ban will be anything that accelerates rate of fire, because bump fire can be done with a rubber band.
Action jobs
Lighter parts in the action short-stroke kits
Variable gas plugs for gas-operated guns
Lighter action springs
Lighter trigger springs
Low recoil ammo
Higher pressure ammo
Compensators and blast deflectors
Heavy/bull barrels
Muzzle/barrel weights
Slide weight reduction
I can go on, but basically any gunsmithing or parts.
No. Not going there.
Ban demonstrably criminally violent people from running around loose, first. We can next address thugs that make specific, credible threats of murder that fit existing laws against such shitbaggery.
All on the books, right now, strangely unenforced. Almost as if someone -wanted- mayhem…
… And the cry of “Ban something now!”
Don’t be dishonest, if a belt look was as effective as a bump stock then we wouldn’t have bump stocks.
Lily, don’t be dishonest. The conversation is not about “bump stocks”, it is about declaring my -Rights- a mere privilege, and telling me what rights you will ban.
That is both dishonest and treacherous, and folks have wised up to that rigged game.
No.
The thread title says “bump stock ban”, not “gun rights debate”.
In addition to all their other bullshit, I should also mention that nobody gets to claim moral high ground on me regarding the safety of children when they’re perfectly okay with butchering those children in the womb.
This.
That is a humdinger of an observation, TOW.
AMEN!!!!
Well you’ve got former 82nd/75th asswipe Jason Crow out in Colorado running on an AR and related “materials” ban, mag limit ban, bump stock ban, killing national reciprocity and attacking anyone taking money from the NRA.
I asked if he’s taking money from any special interest groups either directly or through the DNC. No answer yet.
I guess the ship has sailed where you can count on a vet who gets into politics remembering to protect and defend the Constitution.
I see he was an advisor to Trump’s immediate predecessor in office, what’s his name, the guy with the imaginary red lines. He also has Gifford’s endorsement and spoke at the DNC convention. He is perfect, so perfect that there must be closet somewhere with a few skeletons in it. There always is.
So, he is better addressed as “Jm Crow”?
You all are totally obsessed and out of control…
