That war on terror thingie

Since the media is more concerned about how much of our money they can get Congress to hand out in the next few days, everyone has seemed to forget about the terrorists. Well, except for some bloggers. Michael Yon writes that the UN has finally discovered that Hamas is a criminal organization that steals from the people they’re supposed to be protecting (from the linked AFP story);

The United Nations was on Saturday awaiting the promised return of hundreds of tonnes of food aid for Gaza “mistakenly” seized by Hamas, as the Islamists insisted the crisis is over.

But UNRWA, the main agency for Palestinian refugees, said the incident will not be considered “over” until all 200 tonnes of rice and flour have been returned and Hamas has guaranteed the situation will not be repeated.

In the wake of the incident, the UN agency suspended all imports of aid into the Gaza Strip.

So where is the greatest threat to our country coming from? Weasel Zippers finds an article in the Telegraph that claims 40% of CIA operations are conducted in Britain.

American spy chiefs have told the President that the CIA has launched a vast spying operation in the UK to prevent a repeat of the 9/11 attacks being launched from Britain.

They believe that a British-born Pakistani extremist entering the US under the visa waiver programme is the most likely source of another terrorist spectacular on American soil.

Intelligence briefings for Mr Obama have detailed a dramatic escalation in American espionage in Britain, where the CIA has recruited record numbers of informants in the Pakistani community to monitor the 2,000 terrorist suspects identified by MI5, the British security service.

A British intelligence source revealed that a staggering four out of 10 CIA operations designed to thwart direct attacks on the US are now conducted against targets in Britain.

In the actual war against terrorists, William Teach at The Pirate’s Cove writes that Obama is not keeping his promise to inject more military power ito Afghanistan.

What is the endgame? In case Obama missed it during his $100 steak dinners, he is the president, and should, you know, have a plan when this was one of the issues he campaign on, ie, Iraq was the wrong war, we should have stayed in Afghanistan, he’ll send way more troops, and rout al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
