Shawn Hobel sues DA and police chief for slander
In New Castle, Pennsylvania, Shawn Hobel was arrested for a robbery and he was shot by police during his apprehension. So he’s decided that he’s going to sue the district attorney because his parents hadn’t been notified of his injury before the DA mentioned it during a press conference. He says that the DA, Joshua Lamancusa, also accused him of 10 robberies.
Hobel also filed a separate lawsuit against New Castle police Chief Bobby Salem for defamation. Both suits were written by hand and filed without a lawyer.
He claims that he was only a suspect in two robberies.
The press conference, called by Lamancusa, addressed an incident earlier in the day on Dec. 13 in which Shenango Township police had tried to pull over Hobel’s car after it allegedly was seen at a convenience store where a robbery had occurred. Hobel led police from multiple jurisdictions on a high-speed chase through multiple counties. The chase ended on Interstate 376 in Union Township, when he pulled the car over and held a gun to the head of a woman inside, threatening to shoot her.
A New Castle policeman in turn fired shots through the car window at Hobel and freed the woman. Hobel was hit by the gunfire multiple times in the chest and was hospitalized for his injuries. He was arrested upon his release.
Police learned through the investigation that Hobel had used a toy gun — a plastic replica of a semiautomatic gun — in the incident.
Oh, by the way, he’s been charged for another robbery since the incident that triggered the lawsuit. He was also on parole when the above incident occurred.
Hobel claims in his complaint that Salem and Lamancusa caused him to lose close friends and loved ones and the trust and respect of the community because of what he claims are “false allegations.”
Hobel claims in his filing to be a well-respected mason in the community and that comments that he attributes to Lamancusa and Salem will cost him numerous job opportunities. He further contends that his family “has been forced to suffer friends as well as the respect of the community,” and that he, himself, suffered “emotionally and mental agony.”
I’d feel for him, but I can’t reach him.

Well, I was looking for articles for tomorrow’s feel good stories and this one came up in the search engines and since I have a couple of people threatening to sue me for defamation, as well as a couple of suits ongoing, I thought the community would enjoy them.
But if I have to explain it….

The article is relevant to many concepts that the military and veteran community hold. For example, Shawn Hobel is blaming his actual/pending “hit in community standing” on “false” statements made “against” him. Many in the veteran community see that for what it is, Shawn Hobel not taking responsibility for his actions, not acknowledging his wrong doings, his blaming others when he should blame himself, etc.
He doesn’t realize that he has himself to blame for the things that he complains about, and he definitely has himself to blame for those lost job opportunities. He has proven to be a liability to any operation due to his piss poor judgement, and his track record related to that poor judgement.
Of other interest is the fact that he initially had people believing that he was going to use a fire arm on someone. Close enough to a “feel good” story for posting here.
Jonn posts these “feel good” articles to emphasize a narrative that the mainstream media would rather ignore… Good people with guns stopping people from committing crimes with guns… especially in situations that could’ve ended up worse had the good guys didn’t have guns.
Jonn is providing his audience with materials that they find interesting.
