Army says that Marc Dominguez served

| November 14, 2017

On Saturday, we talked about Marc Dominguez, the fellow in San Diego who was wearing his uniform improperly when he was confronted by some servicemembers who recognized his improper wear.

At the time we speculated that he probably wasn’t a veteran given the way he wore everything perfectly wrong, but the Army told NBC 7 San Diego that he had indeed served briefly;

Marc Dominguez, 42, served from February 2003 to August 2004 as a Private First Class E-3, according to military officials.

[…]

On Monday, Pentagon officials confirmed that as an infantryman, Dominguez received the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

An infantryman with his blue cord on the wrong arm. Blasphemy. No blue disks, and it looks like the brass on his collar isn’t infantry branch. That name tag goes on the other pocket and his marksman badge goes on the pocket flap. He was a Private First Class, so he knows that rank on the Marine Corps cap is upside down.

He got all stabby about the public uniform corrections, and his victim was cut on the arm. I guess we know why his time in the Army was so brief (18 months).

I’m thinking he was given the boot for being a nutbar. I mean, come on, even a Private E-nothing, fresh out of boot would not have his uniform that jacked up. It seems that he was asking for trouble by showing up in public like that.

Anonymous

Now that they’re lower standards again, he can come right back in…

desert

One thing about it, his IQ at least matches Army brass! 😉

David

Looks to me like the brass is the US disc. Unless he never left Basic it would actually be worn correctly (I’m sure an accident on his part.) Since he served as an 11B he should be wearing Infantry brass on the left and US on the right, correct? Bet his service record is interesting, albeit very, very short.

OAE CPO USN Ret

How much of that time in the Army was spent AWOL or in a Brig?

Martinjmpr

Or maybe the psych ward?

When I was in it was ward B-4 at Martin Army Hospital at Fort Benning.

Sometimes the drill sergeants would comment that this or that recruit might need to spend some time on “B-4.” 😉

SSG Kane

Still there, though they call it the fourth floor now.

Never known someone to spend 18 months getting chaptered out though.

Graybeard

This Marc Dominguez Soup Sandwich is completely unsat.

He needs smoked big time.

tin_can_grunt

The guy checked out,he needs some help. More than a wardrobe malfunction going on there.

Slick Goodlin

The operative word here is,”served”.

Like Jimi Hendrix in the 101st Airborne, did he serve in the Army or just occupy a bunk for 18 months?

Claw

Maybe Dominguez got booted for the same reason that Hendrix got booted.

Getting caught rubbing one out in the squad bay while being missing from a fatigue detail.

It’s possible./smile

A Proud Infidel®™

I heard that Jimi Hendrix got booted because of how much he enjoyed “Herbaceous Recreation” as well.

Claw

Yep, that too. But most of the reason why he was booted was that he often required direct adult supervision to get his job done as a warehouse parts stocker in A Co, 801st Maint Bn, he was constantly being written up for missing nightly bed check and I guess the straw that broke the camel’s back was when he broke an ankle while making his 25th parachute jump and couldn’t do the job anymore.

Slick Goodlin

Always been a little sensitive about tales of Hendrix the 101st in that I was in the 101st myself (1/503d 1972 -1973.

I think the tale about his breaking his ankle on a parachute jump resulting in his discharge is a bit of fluff made up for later years.

A lot of the paperwork on his,”Chaptering”, out is available online.
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/file/jimis-private-parts?page=6

None of it mentions a jump injury. It was strictly for being an unproductive soldier.

Also I doubt Hendrix was was jumping during his last year. He wasn’t showing up for his job why would he show up for a jump manifest?

And why would a support unit waste a slot on a jump manifest for someone who was clearly on his way to being booted out?

Hack Stone

Hack thinks that it was Marvin Gaye who was booted from the Air Force for compulsively not being the master of his domain. I thought that I read that on The Smoking Gun, but the link below only mentions his lackadaisical attitude (or lackey-daisy if you happened to be the Comm Chief at 3rd Combat Engineers). Fortunately, compulsive mausterbation is attribute at the proud but humble woman owned business that Hack works for.

Hmmm..interesting.

In the picture that is depicted on 10 News, he is wearing the 10th Mountain patch:

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Least the dumbasses who confronted him didn’t get shot…I’ve said it at least a hundred times, you mouth off to the wrong level of crazy and you could end up dead….

No matter how badass you think you are you can still be dead…over some fucking halfwit in a fucked up uniform…I hope getting stabbed was worth making sure a fuckwit gets his gear squared away…

Graybeard

There was more than one stupid idjit in the crockpot.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

I get that the guy in the fucked up uniform is a turd, my concern is that regardless of what happens if you deal with someone who turns violent you’re going to have an issue whether he kills you or you kill him…approaching someone on the street and provoking an attack might get you charged if you defend yourself depending on what state you’re in when you do it.

California is not Texas or Florida when it comes to self defense….it becomes a question of whether it was worth it or not to me. Was getting stabbed by a fucknut worth trying to press the stolen valor issue?

Jonn points out that it’s often best to leave this stuff to folks like Jonn because he takes the time to do his due diligence without a street confrontation. Neither of those guys lives was worth correcting a retard prancing about in a fucked up unie…in my opinion.

Others are certainly welcome to disagree.

Graybeard

Concur 100%, VOV.

Lee T Cochran

Absolutely. It was Veteran’s Day.
Old timers have uniforms that are not up to spec. My dress blues are 20 years old and I’m sure a active Marine can pick it apart.
These three active duty Army vets are sideline for picking a bar fight and are standing tall in the CO office trying to explain it all.
There are many Vets here in San Diego that are homeless and a few that are not quite there. I had to correct some Navy sailors hasselling a homeless vet for wearing Navy digital pat cammies improperly. Military clinics give those out during annual Stand Down checks for homeless Vets. I would prefer they gave out old woodlands but it’s there call.
I started keeping an eye out when I myself was challenged for wearing my own woodland cammie trousers with my name tape on it. Yeah, after two or three questions I will snap back into my Sgt roll and have at some “no-rates.”

Club Manager

Regardless if the sonovabitch served or not, unless he was medically retired, he was not entitled to be wearing the uniform.

FAEX

Actually 10 USC 772 and AR 670-1 para 23-4 authorizes him to wear the service or dress uniform if he was honorably discharged. He still looks like a soup sandwich and needs to take some pride in his appearance and square himself away. Unfortunately there seems to be some mental issues involved.

OldManchu

He served…. burgers and fries.

E4 Mafia For Life.

He’s part of the US Space Commando Regiment. Those ear buds provide him with live streaming reports from the International Space Station.
Through the miracle of advanced Interweb image enhancement, I was able to read his qualification bar.
He earned Marksman on the Phase Plasma Rifle in the 40 Watt range.
He was one of the last Space Shuttle door gunners prior to the shuttle’s retirement.

Martinjmpr

No, that blue cord on the left shoulder and upside-down PFC rank on his USMC cover means only one thing: Mobile Infantry.

And I should know – Mobile Infantry made me the man I am today!

OldSoldier54

HEY!! SMILE when you say, M.I.

Not stolen valor, just stupid…

CPT11A

Pretty much what I was thinking. Disgraceful, but is there any chance at all that this guy’s IQ is over 70?

ChipNASA

No, maybe he’s a got-damn genius (sarc). He looks like the Hispanic version of Forrest Gump, but he never made it past…..
“Anyway, like I was sayin’, shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey’s uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that’s about it.”….

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

CPT11A; His IQ maybe down to zero point dip shit.

26Limabeans

Guy must have mirror vision.
Could be why he was let go.

NotaLeg

So not really stolen valor, just completely ate the fuck up.

NHSparky

Like a chocolate dick in a gay bar on Valentines Day.

Ex-PH2

The more I see of these things, the less inclined I become to say anything at all.

MrFace

^^^This.

Not because I don’t thinks its wrong. I just don’t think some people are worth it. Met a guy this past weekend with some questionable stories and had a USMC baseball cap on. He had all his ribbons(lapel pins attached on his hat.) All out of order with the NDSM at the top left of three rows. On the bottom right he had a WWII “Capture of Berlin” medal/lapel pin. Which was way too suspect for me to believe; As the guy was younger than I.

After all the stories he was telling, I could tell he wasn’t right in the brainbox, so I left him to his own fantasies.

Cheers,
MrFace

Chip

Have ran into these types for years. Most of them seemingly had a obvious mental issue. That’s why I don’t bother getting too worked up over them most of the time.

Hack Stone

When Hack isn’t doing media relations for a proud but humble woman owned business that sells software to the federal government, he supplements his income by working for a major contractor that supports an agency in the Justice Department. These jobs require a TS/SCI with a polygraph. Anyway, he had a conversation with an individual from another department sporting a Marine Corps lanyard. Hack asked if he went to Parris Island or San Diego, and he replied that he went to boot camp at Montford Point. For those unfamiliar with Montford Point, it was where African Americans went for USMC Basic Training during segregation, and ceased operations as a Recruit Depot in 1949. And he was emphatic that he attended boot camp there, not one of the MOS schools on that facility. He’s nuttier than a pilot who would leave the flight line without checking his fuel levels.

Hondo

If you’re talking the Army of Occupation Medal/Navy Occupation Service Medal, that could be legit. It was awarded for service in Berlin (e.g., stationed there or TDY to Berlin for 30 or more consecutive days) until 1990.

MrFace

Could have been. And now that I googled that, that was similar to the one he was wearing; for some reason I though it was for the Battle of Berlin.

[/Can always trust Hondo on knowing things, :)]

Although, the chap was no older than 32-33.

Cheers,
MrFace

There ain’t no fixin’ dingleberriness.

Isn’t it embarrassing that they doubled down on the medals you get for passing basic training and AIT? You get the national defense service and global war on terrorism service medals. Why not just give a rack for passing basic training?

Claw

“Why not give a rack for passing basic training?”

They kinda do in the Air Force, if you’re a Super Dooper, Gung Ho, Take No Prisoners type Zoomie recruit.

By doing some research, I found that it is possible in the AF to have a starter rack of six ribbons by the time you get done with the initial training phase.

They are (in order of precedence):

The Air Force Recognition Ribbon
NDSM
GWOTSM
USAF BMT Honor Graduate Ribbon
Expert Marksmanship Ribbon
Air Force Training Ribbon

And that’s just for starters. When you get to your first permanent party assignment, I’m sure there are at least three more “unit style” commendation ribbons to add to the rack./smile

Total: A full rack (3×3) of nine ribbons with about four to six months of service under your belt.
