Ted Lieu makes Texas shooting about him
California Democrat Congressman Ted Lieu walked out of the moment of silence held by the House of Representatives last night for the victims of the Sutherland Springs, Texas mass shooting, according to Fox News. He posted the following in video format to Facebook;
“I can’t do this again; I’ve been to too many moments of silences,” Lieu said in the video. “In just my short period in Congress, three of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history have occurred. I will not be silent.”
“I urge us to pass reasonable gun safety legislation, including a universal background check law supported by 80 percent of Americans, a ban on assault rifles and a ban on bump stocks,” Lieu added.
Because, the victims in Texas were sacrificed in homage to poor Mr Lieu’s comfort, apparently. All he had to do was sit quietly and respectfully for the victims, for a spell, but, instead he reacted like a twelve-year old girl and posted his whining to social media because mean old Dad wouldn’t buy him that new dress he wants to wear to the prom.
He got some negative feed back from constituents, so he doubled down on the crybaby shit;
“I agree my prior tweet could be better,” Lieu tweeted. “So here: I pray for the victims in TX. Also, screw the @NRA & can you help Dems take back the House.”
Nothing like standing in buckets of blood while he’s campaigning. Real classy. Lieu is also a colonel in the Air Force Reserves.

Law Professor Glenn Reynolds addresses that question here.
Basically he discusses a three-fold test: 1)The weapon is in “common use” amongst law abiding citizens, 2)Is useful & appropriate not just for military purposes, and 3) Is lineally descended from the kinds of weapons known to the Founders.
If a weapons fills all three requirements, it is protected under the 2nd Amendment.
Seeing as there were privately owned artillery, grenades, and other such during the revolution (privateers anyone) It seems that Professor Reynolds’ line of reasoning is flawed… and as for the “in common use” a century or more of BS laws relating to guns might have something to do with them not being so..
Also might note, law enforcement is picking up military weapons!
I have read and do not agree with the points made by Reynolds in his paper about second amendment limitations.
Those limitations are not those made by the founders who wrote the Bill of Rights. They made no limitations on what was meant by “arms” and who could bear them.
I have extensively studied the founder‘s thoughts and writings on the issues which led to the 2A.
In short, the founders had just won a war against Great Britain as a result of those arms which Americans possessed. Why would they therefore then write a “Bill of Rights” which restricted their rights to the very weapons which they won that war and carried daily.
They foresaw no restrictions on what weapons could be owned and who could own them. They said as much when they wrote “. . Shall not be infringed.”
Any restrictions devised by legislators and courts later are ex post facto justifications.
He’s such a fine upstanding Congressman that he decided to vote “NAY” against these two bills including others:

My Dad told me about an incident, about four years before I was born, when he was a young US Forest Service Firefighter assigned to the Panorama Fire in San Bernardino back in 1980 (29,000 acres, 4 fatalities, 450 structures lost including 330 homes). They came in off the line for the first time in days for their first hot meal in that time. They’re standing in the chow line at the ICP, when the line suddenly stops moving. Some asshole in a suit tells the firefighters lined up waiting for their hot meal (again, first one in 3 or 4 days) that Governor Jerry Brown (then in his first round of ruining the state of California) wanted a photo op, and everyone needs to stat where they are. About twenty minutes of standing there exhausted and not getting fed later, Brown shows up with a crowd of guys with cameras and lights. His suit is freshly drycleaned. He takes off his sport coat, puts on a dirty nomex jacket that one of his lackeys gave him, and gets his picture taken standing near the back of the chow line. After multiple takes, he moves up the line, repeating the process a few times. Then he cuts all the way to the front, takes a plate, and sits at one of the tables, posing for more photos with a plastic knife and fork. Then he gets up, takes off the dirty nomex shirt and throws it on the table, and finally leaves. One of his assistants throws the untouched plate of food in the trash. Only then, after the whole farce has taken about an hour, is anybody allowed to get the hot chow they’ve been standing in line for. The following day, newspapers and TV news showed all kinds of pictures of California’s great democrat governor joining the firefighters in the chow line and how he was working so tirelessly to assist them in any way he can. I had an asshole infantry battalion commander in the Viet of the Nam who was cut from the same cloth as Moonbeam. He would go to the artillery battery messhall where they were serving hot “A’s” and then sit outside his bunker where my men could see him eating, while they were only getting C-rats. That behavior and his other asshole-ness is why there was a rumor there was a kiddy of $3k to anyone who could kill him. On many occasions when he was chewing my ass over the radio, I thought about how sweet it would be to collect that bounty.
