Wednesday morning feel good stories
From Marion, Arkansas;
A woman shot a home intruder Sunday morning, killing the 19-year-old man, authorities said.
The Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department said ADT alarm company received a burglar alarm call at a house on Marion Lake Road at 3:31 a.m. Sunday.
The alarm company made contact with the homeowner, who is in her late 80s and lives by herself. They called officers in Marion and Crittenden County, who responded.
The woman told authorities she called out to the intruder who forcefully entered the home and ordered him to leave her home. She said he advanced toward her and that’s when she shot him in self-defense.
Fenwick told News4Jax that he purposely left his truck unlocked and rigged with a wireless motion sensor that triggered a hand-held alarm.
When the alarm went off about 4 a.m. inside his home, Fenwick said, he grabbed his gun, which was equipped with a laser. He went outside and shined the laser through the glass of his truck.
“There was somebody in my truck, so I approached with my firearm and ordered him down,” Fenwick said.
Fenwick said Pound followed orders by lying face down into the driveway as Fenwick kept the laser on him while taking cover behind another vehicle. He said he took cover because it was dark out and he didn’t know if Pound had an accomplice nearby.
“I did step behind a car and held the gun on him from there, just in case someone else did come,” Fenwick said.
Fenwick told News4Jax that he didn’t have a phone on him to call police so he used the burglary suspect’s cellphone to dial 911.
From Murphysboro, Illinois;
Just after 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, two people armed with weapons attempted to break into an occupied home on Alexander Street in Murphysboro.
Police say the homeowner fired a gun twice through the door and one of the shots hit one of the suspects. The two suspects then ran away.
One of the suspects went to a nearby home and was then taken to the hospital. They are now in a hospital in the St. Louis area in stable condition.
The other suspect was taken into police custody Sunday evening and was charged with attempted home invasion. Both of the suspects are juveniles and their identities will not be released.
It’s the end of the line for a perp in Chicago, Illinois;
Just after 6 a.m., the 19-year-old robbed two people at gunpoint of their cellphones, wallets and cash at a business in the 700 block of West 116th Place, according to Chicago Police.
As the man was running away, he shot himself in the penis, police said. He was taken in serious condition to Christ Medical Center, where he was taken into custody.
From Jackson, Mississippi;
Former Mayor Tony Yarber captured what he said was a would-be thief and it was caught on camera.
“He scared me because I wasn’t anticipating walking up on somebody literally breaking into my vehicle,” said Yarber.
The incident began Sunday evening when Yarber’s wife noticed two men sitting in a running car in front of their home in south Jackson. Yarber said when he went outside, he saw a man trying to break into his car. The man ran into Yarber’s garage, where the former mayor captured him.
One of Yarber’s children shot cellphone video of the encounter that shows Yarber sitting on top of the man and hitting him on the rear with a paddle.
Yarber said he didn’t know at the time that the man had a weapon.
“Later we discovered he actually had a gun, and when I kicked him getting out of the car is what separated him from his gun,” Yarber said.
From Shreveport, Louisiana;
Just after 2:07 p.m. on October 30, 2017, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to M.J.’s Culinary Cuisine and Catering in the 2500 block of Hollywood Avenue, relative to reports of a shooting. On officer’s arrival at the business, it was learned a male patient was located on the ground, outside the rear of the business, suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The man, whose name has not been released, is believed to be one multiple suspects who reportedly committed an aggravated assault with a firearm on the business owner, who unsuspectingly encountered the man and others, as they were engaged in a burglary of his vehicle, parked behind the business. It is believed the store owner shot the man after the burglary suspects were seen armed with guns. The injured man was taken from the scene via ambulance, to University Health hospital with injuries described as life-threatening.

I like the Jackson, Mississippi story myself. How many times do you get to catch a thief AND paddle him too? I would love to see that video!
It’s at the link.
Left the car door open on purpose with an intruder sensor? If the home owner shot the perp there could be a possible entrapment charge against him.
Unlocked does not mean open.
breaking into the victims car, even if unlocked is burglary of private property….I have a latched gated property, not locked, but if they come in to do mischief or theft…IS IT BURGLARY!
