Friday morning feel good stories

You should stay out of Mobile, Alabama until residents there get some more range time and firearms training in;

Tyrone Taylor was arrested and charged with firing into an occupied dwelling. Police say Taylor saw the robbery in progress and suspect running away on foot when he fired his gun. The bullet went through a home across the street and hit the family’s TV. Fortunately no one was injured inside the home.

However, there were two clerks inside the store at the time of the robbery. Surveillance video shows the suspect came in the store armed with a gun and pointing it at the clerk near the cash register. Moments later one of the clerks retrieves a gun from under the counter and fires a shot. The suspect bolts out the door, but the bullet went through the glass door and hit a 15-year-old girl in the parking lot.

Robbery suspect — Joseph Soutullo was arrested a short time after fleeing the scene. He was charged with first degree robbery.

From Phoenix, Arizona;

Officers said a suspect made entry into an attached utility shed at couple’s home near 4100 West Camino Acequia around 5:15 a.m Thursday morning.

The homeowners confronted the suspect and locked him inside. As police responded, the suspect began to force his way out of the shed.

The husband stayed at the door, attempting to keep the suspect locked inside as his wife ran to retrieve their handgun.

After he was armed, the husband continued to struggle to keep the door closed and his handgun discharged. The suspect was shot through the door and hit in the leg.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and will be booked into jail for burglary and felony warrants.

Neither homeowner was injured during the tense and dangerous confrontation.

From Sac City, Iowa;

Bendji Joseph, of Fort Dodge, has been charged with burglary and is in stable condition after he was flown to a Sioux City hospital for his gunshot wounds.

The Sac City Police Department responded to a call of shots fired at 211 S. Fifth St. at 4 a.m. Wednesday.

After an investigation, a news release said that Joseph forcibly entered the apartment without permission with the intent to commit a serious or aggravated assault.

Fearing serious bodily injury or death, Miguel Alcantara, one of the apartment’s occupants, fired two shots at Joseph with a 9mm pistol, hitting him twice.

Joseph was transported to Loring Hospital in Sac City for treatment and was later life-flighted to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, where he is believed to be in stable condition.

Joseph has been charged with felony first- and third-degree burglary.

From La Crosse, Wisconsin;

Isaiah Brueggen, 20, was charged Wednesday with burglary as a party to the crime for the Aug. 11 break-in at 417 S. Eighth St.

According to court documents, a resident told police he heard someone kicking in his back door just before 7 a.m. and found a man in his kitchen with a bandanna covering his face. He shot the burglar as he ran out the back door and reported seeing him get into a red Ford Escape.

The intruder, identified as Clifton Traywick, showed up at the Mayo Clinic Health System emergency room with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Traywick, 21, of Stevens Point, Wis., and Duane Strelow, 22, of Campbell, each were charged in August with burglary. Traywick was also charged with felony bail jumping.

Remember when your dad told you to be in by midnight because nothing good happens after midnight?

Traywick? Bendji?

That teen catching a bullet meant for a thief at a convenience store is the reason I don’t go to them any more. Gas stations are bad enough, but you’re in and out and not much cash is involved.

Mobile,AL. Where did they get their range certificates? A Cracker Jacks box?

Weekend Warrior in Texas

Some states do not require proof of firearm proficiency. I am not sure about AL, but I do not remember GA requiring one, and I have been told the process in AL is simpler.

So the guy in Phoenix just “happened” to shoot the perp in the leg? I guess it’s better to be lucky than good.

Had a grandmother who “accidentally” shot a guy through her front door with both barrels of a side-by-side. He did not file a complaint.

Interestingly legal phrasing in the Iowa section, almost liek someone saying :I’m in fear for my (BANG) life!”
