Obama: America can’t afford to bicker over eating the s*** sandwich
The Washington Times this morning quotes our new President who scolds us for arguing over the shit sandwich the Democrats are shoving down our throats (I borrowed the shit sandwich analogy from Ace of Spades and Michelle Malkin);
President Obama Saturday morning called on the Senate to quickly pass his more than $825 billion economic stimulus plan, saying Americans “have little patience” for political bickering and noting that while the bill isn’t perfect, it can jumpstart job creation.
Mr. Obama said in his weekly radio address it is “good news” the U.S. House passed his bill this week, though he did not mention that zero Republicans voted for it.
“I will continue working with both parties so that the strongest possible bill gets to my desk. With the stakes so high we simply cannot afford the same old gri
No, Mr. President, it’s not perfect, but if we’re going to spend $825 billion, money that we’re going to be paying back for decades, don’t you have a responsibility to the American taxpayer to take the time to make it perfect? We’ve already seen what the Democrat strategy is for “working with both parties” as evidenced by your comment last weekend that you won the election and things will have to go your way. If the bill isn’t clean, take out the offensive, useless spending and make it clean – it’s your job. Don’t dictate to the American people what we should accept and what we shouldn’t.
If he really wants to be everyone’s President, he should act like it.
In a related story also in the Times, Claire McCaskill shows the Democrats’ real hand when she introduced a government cap on executives’ pay. Using the language of the class warrior she defended the bill;
“We have a bunch of idiots on Wall Street that are kicking sand in the face of the American taxpayer,” the Missouri Democrat said on the Senate floor Friday, a day that also saw the top Republican senator on finance issues harshly criticize Wall Street pay.
Under Mrs. McCaskill’s proposal, employees of companies that receive money from the Treasury Department’s $700 billion Wall Street bailout fund, called the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) would not be able to make more than the U.S. president — $400,000 — until the company no longer relies on federal assistance.
The cap would include salary, bonuses and stock options. It also is common for top executives at Fortune 500 companies — the relevant talent pool — to make tens of millions in salary, with stock options and bonuses reaching the hundreds of millions.
Mrs. McCaskill said she was appalled that the average pay of executives of the first 116 banks that got TARP money was $2.6 million.
I’m appalled that US Senators make so much money and have so little accountability. We should roll back the Senate’s last few pay raises until this economic crisis, which Democrats are using an excuse to pass wildly Socialist legislation, ends. See. capping people’s pay is always popular unless they start talking about YOUR pay.
The whole condescending attitude of Congress and the Executive is beyond elitist. Americans deserve better. Nearly half of the country voted against Obama – he should take that into account when talking to us as if we’re children.

We aren’t supposted to question President Hussein, and we must give him 100 days,,,,,,,, Horsehit! Did the same people who spew this shit give GWB 100 days? No! They threw eggs on his limo during the inaug parade! When President Hussein got elected I promised myself to applaud all that he does good. I haven’t found cause to “put my hands together” as yet. It is true that he is President of all of America. When he get that bit of knowledge, we can all stand behind him. Until such time, I will continue to do the sheepdog thing and bark from the top of my little hill. It is truly sad that this great country must have a partisan election for president, but that is how it is.

yep – 4 years of being lectured by the guy that serves $100 steak to his “guests”.
He should also earn to respect his elders, such as me. PUTZ!
I have written to both of my Senators, telling them to get rid of the nonsense and add some genuine economic stimulus to the “stimulus package.” Anyone who cares about this issue should do the same, especially if your Senators, like mine, are Democrats.
UGH…Obamanatoin speak with forked tongue!!! Time to ride Kimosabe. Me feel shit storm coming!!!
I’m appalled that we elected a bunch of idiots to the Congress that are kicking sand in the face of the American taxpayer (three or four generations out!) by plotting to spend OUR MONEY like drunken sailors, on give-aways and pork that will have practically no impact on the economy. Not to mention the votes on KNOWN tax cheats like Geithner and Daschle. Wake the F*** UP! We’re already about half way through the worst of this recession, UNLESS you go for the gusto and vote for the stim-you-lose that will turn this into a depression.
I think it’s fair to put a salary cap on people that are receiving taxpayer money to bail out their company because they have fucked it up so hard.
I prefer that they bicker, by all means. This was the issue with the other bailout. Remember, PResident Bush 41 said we need to be cheerleaders at times like these or the doom and gloom can help to self-fulfill the failure prophecy. And, so far, we have heard nothing but doom and gloom.
If we listen to the COW’s predictions- that it will take YEARS to get out of this, well, here’s a clue. If the recession minus the doom and gloom follows history, we should be halfway there.
Typically, though I have never thought of it, but my spouse’s business requires it, 4-6 years is what it takes in general to completely recover. But, that is not to say it requires what Obama is asking for by a longshot!!
This is what ignorance will do for you and what Obama hopes for. Probably why he hates Rush. Because he informs of such things whereas the dems would have us be cockroaches in the dark
Much to my consternation, I find myself agreeing with A/S. I think we should put a cap on the salaries of Senators and Representatives, and the Executive branch. Mr. Dodd, Mr. Frank and all of Zero’s advisors should be getting, maybe $1.00 a year. And the COW, aka community organizer can start to show the way by firing his personal chef. Let em live on the money they looted from Fannie and Freddie. And tell them to pay their taxes!!!!
Dear Army Sergeant,
This appears to be the picture of a slippery slope. As soon as you accept the premise that any business exposed to failure as a result of incompetence or malfeasance by its executives may be “bailed out” by funds from the general treasury …
Then, you are led to accept government intervention in any and all activities of that business, i.e., the end of private ownership of capital, i.e., socialism. Fair or not, we lose.
Also, you are led to the situation where EVERY rational business begs for government largess, because every rational business should seek to maximize profit and cash flow, and this now becomes an acceptable mechanism. And of course, you then impose socialism on every business and that giant crashing sound is the end of the great experiment in capitalism and free markets.
And, of course, you must also accept the consequence that we will be stuck in the technology and infrastructure as it now stands, because you’ve accepted the premise that the government is right to intervene in the “destructive renewal” processes, including bankruptcy, that keep productive resources and labor targeted at the most efficient enterprises. New technology and new products become a threat to the status quo.
So, yes, it would be fair, but it would be much better if we had not started down this path.
With respect,
MLM
a Sh*t sandwich indeed.
The Democrat’s current complaining about the lack of Bipartisanship by House Republicans in light of the new House Rules enacted by Pelosi is like a Rapist complaining about being arrested and claiming it was “consensual sex” because the victim was unconscious and couldn’t complain. There is nothing “Bi” about the Partisan rules that prevent Republicans from amending or adding to legislation now.
That being said… before Congress sticks it’s nose into salaries in private businesses they should at least have the decency to cancel the pay raise they just voted themselves first.
