Thursday morning feel good stories
From New Orleans, Louisiana;
The incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday in the 6900 block of General Haig Street when noise from Gino Ascani’s camera system alerted his fiancée to wake him up.
“She heard the clicking noise and saw them in the driveway,” Ascani said.
Ascani told his fiancée to call police and then he grabbed a gun to follow the suspects he saw on camera. He was able to sneak up behind on four of them as they walked down the street near Walker.
“The thing was I wanted to follow them to make sure they weren’t going to victimize anyone else and I was waiting for the police when I felt that they were getting ready to flee. That’s when I yelled “Freeze!” and that’s when they ran,” Ascani said.
As they took off, police say Kilton Lowery shot twice at Ascani but missed. Ascani said he did not return fire to avoid hitting the wrong person. He then said the suspects disappeared towards Robert E. Lee. Shortly after, officers responded to the call to see a car speeding off near General Haig.
“Apparently they observe the police officers as well and tried to elude the officers before we can even engage them in a vehicle pursuit or anything they flipped the vehicle,” police said.
In High Point, North Carolina;
Police were called to the 1700 block of Candlewood Court around 3 a.m. on May 28. Upon arrival, police learned that three men broke into the home in an attempt to rob the residents.
While inside, the men ran upstairs, where police say a man shot and killed one of the suspects, 21-year-old Christopher Lamont Gidderon.
Police say they found dozens of shell casings in the upstairs hallway.
“Four people with guns shooting at the same time, six total people, it’s a miracle there weren’t more injuries,” said Capt. Tim Ellenberger, with High Point police.
Police arrived fewer than eight minutes after the victim called 911 after the other two suspects ran off.
On Tuesday, 18-year-old Deontay Robinson was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder, one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.
Kashaun Lovette, 19, was arrested Wednesday and charged with the same charges.
From Charlotte, North Carolina;
Investigators told Channel 9 that the shooting stemmed from an attempted robbery and that a security guard inside the business pulled the trigger.
Police said two men wearing masks walked into the gaming parlor just after midnight and one of the suspects, Julian Harris, pulled out a gun and pointed it at office staff.
A security guard working at the business then pulled out his own gun and fired a shot, hitting Harris.
Both suspects ran out of the building but first responders found Harris dead a short time later in the woods next to the building.
From Eufaula , Alabama;
At 12:03 p.m. Wednesday, a Eufaula homeowner called 911 to report that someone was unlawfully inside a vehicle under his carport on Macon Avenue. As officers were dispatched, the homeowner was able to give a description of the subject and describe his actions to the communications officer. Prior to the responding officer’s arrival, the homeowner shot the subject, and the subject fled on foot.
The injured subject showed up at the Barbour Medical Center emergency room for treatment of a gunshot wound to his lower torso.
A little frontier justice in Bangladesh;
Quoting locals, police said a gang of 7-8 robbers swooped on the house of Dula Mia around 3:00 am. As they were obstructed by the house owner, robbers gunned down Dula Mia, leaving him dead on the spot.
Hearing the screaming of family members, locals rushed in and caught a member of the robbers’ gang while others managed to flee the spot.
Later, the angry mob gave him a good thrashing, leaving him dead on the spot.

Whats the Scrabble point spread on “Deontay Robinson” and “Kashaun Lovette”?
Name Scrabble (Home Version) point spread is:
Deontay Robinson = 21
Kashaun Lovette = 24
Although not requested, but since Christopher Lamont Gidderon was DRT by a tax payers round, he garners a whopping 40×3 for a tally of 120 points.
DRT always triples the final score. So if you want to be the big winner in the daily Name Scrabble (Home Version) go-around, go DRT.
Don’t half-ass it. Go DRT or go home.
The situation in New Orleans could have gone bad in so many directions, I have to disagree with Ascani’s actions. He did fine until he followed the thugs up the street. Among other things, the cops may have killed him, thinking he was part of the gang. The thugs could have killed him. Ascani overplayed his hand.
Louisiana law also does not permit deadly force to prevent property crimes. At least that is what we were instructed bt the LAARNG JAG during our adventure during Katrina.
That Robert E.Lee street sounds like a bad street, we must rename it immediately. Perhaps after MLK those streets never have trouble on them. sarc
We had a fountain dedicated to the Four Geogians pulled out of one of our parks by the City Commission and taken to an “undisclosed location.” It’s on the historic registry, and none of the rules were followed in dealing with it, no public discussion, nothing. They said they pulled it out for “safety reasons.”
“Georgians.”
Don’t thrash me bro’!
“Four people with guns shooting at the same time, six total people, it’s a miracle there weren’t more injuries,”….
More range time, perhaps? Use laser sights to find the target and hit it?
On a side note, the people of BanglaDesh seem to be less hesitant about punishing criminals then we are here in the USA.
Police arrived in less than 8 minutes is something to brag about? Next time you debate with yourself on the wisdom of having a gun in the house, remember how long 8 minutes can be. The cliche is “when seconds count, the cops are only minutes away”.
I do, however, admire the self-slipping car. Unfortunately, the brakes work poorly when the car is on its roof – there’s a reason why you keep the shiny side up.
I live not far from HP (GSO) … Christopher LAMONT Gidderon … the big dummy!!
