Canada’s PM against illegal immigration
The darling of the world’s Leftists, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, suddenly came out and warned against illegal immigration to America’s hat according to Fox News;
“Canada is an opening and welcoming society, but let me be clear. We are also a country of laws,” Trudeau said in remarks after a meeting in Montreal with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar.
“Entering Canada irregularly is not an advantage,” the prime minister doubled down. “There are rigorous immigration and customs rules that will be followed. Make no mistake.”
Illegal border crossings to Canada spiked in July, reaching more than triple June’s 884 crossings. Most immigrants enter through Quebec.
Yeah, but the United States is supposed to welcome tens of thousands every month. I guess now Trudy will earn the hatred that President Trump gets from the Left. He became the anti-Trump in January when Trudy tweeted;
To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith,” The prime minister tweeted. “Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada.”

Now, I’ve argued in the past here for the US to take in refugees, but that’s via legal channels… it’s absolutely insane to think a country shouldn’t have borders and people can just wander in illegally. I guess I just don’t view a comment on preventing illegal immigration as an about face on immigration-related issues.
Living close to the border and working much of my career within spitting distance of it, LC, you’d be amazed how many dickheads I’ve seen on holding signs promoting exactly that.

Immigration rules for Canada HAVE NOT SUDDENLY CHANGED. They have always been very strict. Try crossing the border into Canada if you (an American) have a felony or a DUI on your record. You won’t be getting in, not even for a day visit. I lived in Vancouver for 5 years, on a NAFTA work permit covering myself and my family. Without it, I could not open banking, get a license to drive, register and insure a car, or apply for BC healthcare. If I was even one day late in renewing the work permit, Canadian immigration was on top of my company like a ton of bricks. (As a result of that one instance when I was a day late, I still get hauled in for questioning every time I fly into Canada or cross the border; this remains in effect until 2024 apparently). Everything in that province is tied: immigration to healthcare to licensing, etc, so it’s hard to be illegal unless you plan to live way off the grid and completely out of sight. Canadians are actually pretty law-abiding, and will turn you in if they suspect you are illegal, as you may also be up to other nefarious activity. If you up there on good immigration status, but are seen to hang out with bikers or known drug traffickers, -or neo-nazis or other objectionable types, you will be apprehended and deported “in the best interests of the Crown”. Appeals process, yes, but very little public or government sympathy for undesirables. Canada’s LEGAL immigration is finely tuned as to who they are looking to have come in. I have seen government docs with lists of specific professions, allowing in people who speak French, have particular skills, and are willing to live in specific areas of Quebec. These lists are frequently updated. Canada does accept asylum seekers, but the process of vetting is rigorous and not just anybody gets in. I agree, Canada’s agriculture, especially fruit, is dependant on migrant seasonal workers. These guys don’t just show up on our doorstep. They go through the proper legal Visa channels in their home country. The fruit would rot on the trees in my area if it were not for the predominantly Jamaican migrant work force. I have never hear of a crime committed by one either.
However, they do enjoy impregnating obese, white single mums with no self esteem, to stay in Canada.
