Ralph Northam; Virginia’s gun control Lt Governor
The Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam, doesn’t like guns, more accurately, he doesn’t like that you have guns. He likes to tell his constituents that he grew up on the Eastern shore, so that means that he’s just like you – he hunts, so guns are his friends. But he hasn’t seen a gun control measure in the legislature that he won’t vote for.
His favorite line when talking about gun control is explaining to people that he treated “assault weapon” victims as a doctor in the Army during Desert Storm.
As an Army veteran and a doctor—and an Eastern Shore native who grew up hunting—Ralph knows the damage weapons can do. That’s why he’s been a staunch advocate for commonsense gun safety laws since his time in the state senate.
I witnessed the damage these guns can do firsthand as an Army doctor during the First Gulf War.
Well, he was indeed a doctor during Desert Storm, according to the NPRC;
I’m not sure how many wounded soldiers he treated though. He was a child neurologist working at the Army’s Landstuhl Hospital in Germany. The way I understand neurologists, they treat brain diseases not gunshot wounds. It looks like he specialized in child neurology before, during and after the time he was at Landstuhl.
I know that Landstuhl played an important part during the latest wars in the Middle East as the hospital that treated casualties evacuated from Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, etc… At the time of Desert Storm, however, the 97th General Hospital in Frankfort was the primary hospital for evacuated casualties. The 97th closed in June 1992.
Now, he didn’t exactly lie about his service, he was a Major, he was a doctor, he served during Desert Storm, but I’m pretty sure a child neurologist wouldn’t be treating wounded soldiers, except in emergency circumstances – extreme emergencies.
He can be against the private ownership of guns, that’s fine, everyone has a right to their opinions, no matter how misinformed that opinion might be…but he should leave the Army out of it. He comes off as another elitist asshole who is holier than thou.

Okay. I’m confused. Are those Navy or Air Force personnel in the picture captioned Army Doctor During Gulf War?
Or have I not yet had enough coffee?
Landstuhl is a military hospital, not exclusively Army. My son, Air Force surgical technician, was stationed at Landstuhl until recently.
Makes sense; Landstuhl is probably closer to Ramstein AFB than Kaiserslautern. (And do we even have anything left in K-Town?)
Those look to be standard US Navy Coveralls those other folks are wearing. Looks like a Chief or Officer with the khaki belt.
‘elitist asshole who is holier than thou’ – is he related to DER COMMISSAR Commissar AKA THE POODLEDICKED PIUPERDINK?
Arrogance tends to trip people up.
That’s a good question, I do find one similarity. Ralph Northam was a “Major”. Just like Major Commissar.
Definitely Navy. Nothing says denim like Dungapimps.
I thought they looked like Navy. To me that picture just screams:
“Storekeepers perform semi-annual hospital equipment inventory while a doctor strolls by seeking directions to the nearest head.”/smile
aka…nut huggers. I hated wearing Dungaree trousers.
I only wore them during Duty Section Muster and Quarters if i could get away with it. Otherwise it was coveralls or Flight Deck Greens.
Gen. Betrayus must be so proud……
I bet him an drew (master)Bateman get along great.
Glad to see this, Jonn.
Hopefully, he will NOT be designated in November as the Carpetbagger’s replacement.
This is just the tip of the iceberg on what he is supporting (Very Alarming).
No surprise there. IMO that sentence describes most
CommunistsSocialists“Progressives”on the political Left to a “T”.Gun control – like all other forms of social control the Left wants to impose – isn’t about the “gun” (replace “gun” with appropriate term as required). It’s all about “control”.
I wonder if he and Sen. Rick ‘The Dick’ Blumenthal get together in the evenings to trade war stories.
Not defending his idiotic socialist (but I repeat myself) stance on guns, but I see that interned in pediatrics.
Is there a chance that a child injured in the fighting was brought to Landstuhl for treatment, and his pediatric skills were needed in the child’s treatment?
And Dr. Ralph Northam is yet another example of how, just because a person is well trained in one field it does not mean they have any clue about other fields.
Why did Dr. Ralph Northam leave pediatric neurology for politics, I wonder.
I imagine because he probably sucked as a child neurologist. Oh and being a former 68W/91W/91B/91A I can attest I never once saw a pediatric neurologist at any MTF lower than a Level III Medical Center.
I would not be surprised.
Child neurology is a demanding and highly-specialized field. If he got a bad reputation in the medical community, they wouldn’t let him clean the rooms in a hospital, much less practice.
The medical community is pretty tight like that.
So thus he went into politics and Government where one can be incompetent, suck to the end of the Earth and stay employed.
Yet another candyassed cream puff liberal elitist who wants to make more of America the same crime-free utopia that places like Chicago, LA, NJ and Mexico are.
Fuck. Him.
And Venezuela.
Nothin’ like the word “commonsense” (by the way, it’s either “common sense” or “common-sense”) – to flag that someone is an elitist who translates ‘common sense’ as meaning ‘whatever I deign to impose on you.’
“Common sense” or “commonsense” translate to this snot wad is taking money from Bloomberg, and likely, Soros. And, he’s a compatriot, if only in his mind, to Shannon Watts.
In some of Northam’s campaign ads during the recent gubernatorial primary elections in Virginia, Northam claims that following the Virginia Tech shootings on 16 April 2007, he ‘listened to the survivors’, ‘stood up to the NRA’, and supported an ‘assault weapons ban’.
He also said this about President Trump: “I’m listening carefully to Donald Trump, and I think he’s a narcissistic maniac. Whatever you call him, we’re not letting him bring his hate into Virginia.”
Hmmmm. There appear to be several problems with these statements. Let’s review:
– The NRA didn’t have anything to do with the Virginia Tech shootings. The shootings were perpetrated by Seung-Hui Cho, who was a mentally unstable senior at Virginia Tech.
– There were no ‘assault weapons’ used in the Virginia Tech shootings. Cho used two firearms during the attacks: a .22-caliber Walther P22 semi-automatic handgun and a 9 mm semi-automatic Glock 19 handgun. Neither one of those weapons was a ‘scary black gun’ with a ‘big clip’ full of ‘bullets’, a ‘flash processor’, and a ‘thing that goes up at the back’.
– As for his bizarre comments about President Trump being a ‘narcissistic maniac’ bringing his ‘hate into Virginia’, someone might want to let ol’ Ralph know that President Trump isn’t running against him for governor in the state of Virginia.

Here is the reference that I used in regard to the perpetrator’s identity and the weapons that he used during the Virginia Tech shootings that took place on 16 April 2007:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Tech_shooting
Let’s not forget that Virginia Tech, like nearly all other mass shooting sites, is a “Gun-Free Zone”‘ which guarantees an unstable cowardly maniac a huge cornucopia of unarmed VICTIMS.
Shack.
Excellent point, API.
Plus, the lunatic brought chains and locks so he could lock his unarmed victims into the building and keep the first responders from getting in.
The reality is that a neurologist is first a nuerologist and second a pediatric neurologist and both are difficult for the military to retain, so that it is entirely possible that this jerk could have been called in to consult on brain-damaged casualties. Whatever, all the frickin’ medical training in the world does not make him an authority on the Constitution as he so aptly demonstrates.
Poe – does it strike you as odd that one would leave neurology for politics if one were good at neurology?
Remember…the difference between a doctor and God is that God doesn’t pretend to be a doctor.
On M*A*S*H it didn’t matter. Those guys did everything!
/sarc
They didn’t work in a fully-staffed hospital like Landstuhl on MASH.
His Campaign commercials now has him stating that he was an Army Doctor for 6 years and treated Soldiers wounded in battle during the first Gulf War.
8 years, not 6 years.
Here is the latest commercial:

This one still hasn’t flushed down the toilet? Dang.
Yep. You nailed it.
In this article, he stated Lanstuhl, on some days, were taking in 30-40 casualties a day.
This and other articles makes it seems he did all the healing. An embellisher.
http://richmondmagazine.com/news/field-notes/ralph-northam-candidate-for-virginia-governor-2017/
“embellisher”
A very polite way of saying “bald-faced scumbag liar.”
Gen. Rbt. E. Lee needs to come back from the dead and horsewhip him.
If Northam wins, he planning to take down Robert E. Lee’s statute (and other statues of the Conferederacy).
Dirtball. 👿😈
I wonder if he’ll also try to take down the Stonewall Jackson statue at VMI.
If he does, things could get interesting.
Northem is a 2Face, hypocrite who
speaketh with Forked Tongue:http://www.richmond.com/news/virginia/government-politics/vmi-leaders-say-military-college-will-keep-confederate-statues/article_1112d889-859c-53e5-a51b-cdcabbaa3a1d.html
Apparently, he airbrushed his running mate out of campaign fliers that he mailed to unions – his running mate is Black.
Jonn is correct! As I said, Northrem speaks with forked tongue:https://www.google.com/amp/pilotonline.com/news/local/columnist/kerry-dougherty/ralph-northam-campaign-flyers-omitted-his-black-running-mate-was/article_712fd4c1-230b-5500-a6b5-96a0b6e03c76.amp.html
As I recall from watching the CNN coverage at the time, we had very few casualties during the Gulf War, and very few of them were from gunshot wounds. Moreover, the Iraqi Army was not armed with the “evil” black rifle. I’d like to know if there were actually any gunshot victims even treated at Landstuhl during the Gulf War. I am suspecting this is PR bullshit just like the campaign ads of ol’ Gray Davis implying he got off Hueys in the Viet of the Nam carrying a PRC-25 in combat. (NOT, he was a REMF Signal Corps officer)
Someone should also let Ralph Northam know that Donald Trump isn’t running against him for Governor in Virginia:
So a FMJ 5.56 bullet is much more deadly than a hunting .375 or .30 caliber soft point bullet? Glad a doctor was around to explain that to me.
I have seen what a 5.56 round does to the humerus of one of our soldiers in an unfortunate friendly fire incident in RVN, including looking at the man’s X-rays. So, does that qualify me to control other people’s rights to own firearms?
You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.
Yup.
A 5.56mm FMJ round is much more deadly than anything else because the ‘scary black assault weapon’ that fires that round has a ‘big clip’, a ‘flash processor’, and a ‘thing that goes up at the back’.
Everyone knows that.
You mean like a “Ghost Rifle with a 30 magazine clip “?
Just like that.
Very scary.
Plus, some of them have that thing that you can attach a knife or a grenade to.
And, don’t forget, the bullet from one of those scary black rifles “tumbles end over end, creating massive wounds”.
I heard about this that was why the military retired the 30-06 will only allow it to be used by hunters, cuz it is less effective
I heard the same thing, that was one of the favored talking points of the left, at one time.
Now the “One hand gun a month” law… IIRC when I lived in Virginia was also called the “Safe From Spouses Act” as it kept you safe from your spouse by limiting your hand gun purchases to 12 a year.
So far as I could tell it had no other useful function (unless you call giving Mayor Bloomers some desktop houseful)
“I witnessed the damage these guns can do firsthand as an Army doctor during the First Gulf War.”
So he hunted on the eastern shore. Ok, I’ll bite. Why were they using hunting weapons in the first gulf war? Sand ducks? Dessert Geese?
Oasis Merganser? Dune rabbits?
Wait a second… you are not suggesting people use crazy people killing super deadly military rifles to kill tasty animals with? That seems inhumane.
Clip, does he mean Garand clip, paper clip, stripper clip, 40MM Bofors clip, potato chip bag clip?? Must mean magazine.
Thanks for posting this, Jonn. I got to sit through the ads during the campaign, and I sure came away with the impression that he was in the CSH in Baghdad treating the wounded as they rolled in.
Except, unfortunately, we didn’t get to Baghdad in the First Gulf War, when this lying asswipe served as a pediatric neurologist. It is highly likely he never treated any casualties from that war when he was at Landstuhl Hospital in 1990-1991.
👍👍👍👍to what rgr769 wrote..
Adding to his list of credentials:
Cocksucker.
I hereby make an official motion for Ralph Northam to receive The Official TAH Wall of Insults®™.
