Breaking News: MOAB dropped near Afghan-Paki border
This just in:
US has dropped an 11-ton MOAB on a cave complex near the Afghan-Paki border. The story so far is at the link.
This comes from the mid-day news. There is more news coming. And loud noises will probably be heard at microphones. It should make the Norks nervous, too. Stay tuned!
I thought it was too quiet….

Big ass lawn dart.

Big ass lawn dart that GO BOOM!
It was put in right after the noon weather report, and was very brief. The real details were very sketchy.
I hope they have pictures.
I see dimwitted prez karzai said we are “testing new weapons” and only afghani’s can stop the US……pull the bastards checkbook and watch him squeal! why are our people being killed for this bunch of maggots!!???
Big Ass Lawn Dart with one mile blast radius!
Is it just me, or does it seem that specific military actions are being taken to have effects in the HQs of multiple bad guys simultaneously?
Why send out multiple notices that f’n around with us isn’t wise any longer when a 21,000 lb note will do? Saves on stamps, too.
Works for me.
But can Fatty Kim Th’3rd read the writing on the wall?
Oh – my bad. The wall seems to have vaporized.
nope, dumocraps don’t want to build a wall 😉
Much better than a “strongly-worded letter”. . .
“The statement said U.S. forces took every precaution to avoid civilian casualties.”
Yeah, I guess having a crew member yell “Look out below!” from the back of the C130 counts.
I’m curious as to what was actually said at the moment of release by the pilot.
That must of been the dump of his life the way it just slid out the back.
I suppose “Up yours, goat-*uck3rs” would not be accurate.
“Bite this” might work.
My guess: “Hold on, we’re about to have a sudden change in altitude!”
probably gained 10,000 ft before he could regain control. that is a lot of weight to dump in level flight.
Reports are the pilot was a Major “King” Kong.
“I want you to remember one thing, the folks back home is a-countin’ on you and by golly, we ain’t about to let ’em down. I tell you something else, if this thing turns out to be half as important as I figure it just might be, I’d say that you’re all in line for some important promotions and personal citations when this thing’s over with. That goes for ever’ last one of you regardless of your race, color or your creed. Now let’s get this thing on the hump – we got some flyin’ to do.”
How about ‘Mother’s on her way’?
I’m thinking it was more like, “Happy Mother’s Day, Abdullah.”
WHO’S YOUR DADDY, BYTCHES!!!
I think I would have yelled “Sucks to be you right now!” 😀
Big operation going on there with US SOF.
That is where the 7th SFG (A) NCO was killed a few days ago.
This bomb could be very effective against tunnels or
Payback time.
Concur.
You kill one of ours? Hold my beer.
Hold my beer and watch this shit.
The blast wave must be EPIC!
Those tunnels must have ceased to exist.
Looking at the video – EPIC is not an adequate adjective.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the goat-fuckers on the receiving end of it!
I’m guessing the cave complex isn’t as complex as it used to be. Matter of fact, no caves now.
“I’m guessing the cave complex isn’t as complex as it used to be.”
You, Sir, officially owe me a snoot-full of spendy single barrel bourbon for that.
*grin*
Anyone else notice that the target was primarily ISIS? The very same Isis that was contained in Northern Iraq, some months ago. President mom jeans told me. So did a commie grad student.
I noticed that it is now referred to as ISIS instead of ISIL.
ISIS = Islamic State of Iraq and as-Sham, aka the Levant (or alternatively Syria or Damascus).
Just using the Arabic term for the Levant now instead of the English.
Because we blew the ‘L’ out of them!
Some snowflake is complaining on Twitter that the cost of that bomb could have paid for Flint’s water problem.
I guess he forgets that Flint’s water is a local problem.
They hate Trump but they want him to solve a problem Democrats started. Go figure.
But, of course, they do. Pass the buck! Whine, stamp your feet, pout, hold your breath, squawk, squall, throw a hissy fit and sit in it, then blame it on someone else.
And that it is the snowflake’s beloved EPA that exacerbated that situation.
Trump is right in castigating the EPA.
They act like the bomb was built after the Flint water problem.
Meh, Flint Michigan has been lorded over by D-rats for HOW MANY decades and now it’s President Trump’s fault now?
Oh, the “JV” team?
Do you think it hurt when it landed on them?
Not for long.
Too bad.
I bet it was breath-taking.
I’m so happy right now! I don’t know why I’m so happy but it’s a warm, fuzzy feeling that only comes from payback.
Like a nice hot toddy?
Possibly even bigger than the bomb Hollyweird dingus Shia LaBeouf just released.
Boom.

Interesting. What ever happened to thermobaric bombs that were the rage some years ago? Suffocating the bastards was inhumane or something?
I was wondering as well.
I have no knowledge of the best application scenarios for either device, nor on what difference(s) there were in the current target and the former targets. But those thermobaric bombs did the job, I’ve been told.
Re: CC Senor
The Taliban and jihadis in general figured out that it was better to hide in populated areas rather than in caves.
Occasionally they have to re-learn that lesson.
HERCULES!!
Any idea what your altitude jump would be when you lose 12,000lbs all at once?
I was able to google a few things and having been on both aircraft, I’d say that they have a bit of a jump and adjustment and then normal flight.
——-
As for delivery of the weapon, I have two examples from people that I’ve flown with: the C-130 LAPES (Low Altitude Parachute Extraction) system and the C-141 airdrop of a (small) tank. In both instances the aircrew waits about two seconds after the green light is given and pushes full nose down on the yoke; hold this until the tank/HMMWV/huge bomb is out the back and then recover into a mostly normal position. I’ve never done the LAPES stuff, but I have seen the tank airdrop: it’s downright spooky to see someone jam the yoke full forward and have NOTHING happen: the airplane kind of “chugs”, but you don’t enter the massive negative-G dive that you’d expect. After the “chug”, you bring the yoke back to normal and everything’s fine (except for the poor bastards you dropped a tank on!)
Figures that the pros would know how to adapt and overcome. Looked at the film of the test drop, and that was pretty impressive.
I’ve actually been on a C-130 doing practice air drops. Not much of a “jump” at all. VERY cool to watch from inside the belly of the aircraft, though!
It’s just so beautiful. Damn, it’s getting dusty in here.
When was the last time they dropped one of those?
Never except for a single test at the Eglin AFB range. They have dropped a bunch of *other* bombity boom booms in the last 16 years.
A fuel-air explosive (FAE) / thermobaric weapon
Since 2001, the United States has most recently used the BLU-118/B aircraft dropped thermobaric bomb, XM1060 40mm thermobaric grenade, Shoulder-Launched Multi Purpose Assault Weapon-Novel Explosive (SMAW-NE) and the AGM-114N Metal Augmented Charge (MAC) thermobaric Hellfire during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In Afghanistan, particularly, the weapons proved to be ideal in rooting out Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters hiding in caves and tunnels.

Also, it appears that we had about 20 of these but now…….

Order up! One MOAB on rye with crisp onion rings!
This is hilarious as fuck. Just a few days ago press secretary Sean Spicer was saying how awful barrel bombs are.
That is a big-ass bomb.
Oblig….

Ohhh! Big bad bomb go boom!
In Nam, our Recon team was given a patrol to recon an area where, as we were told, a 12-14 thousand pound bomb had been dropped. I presume it was a Daisy Cutter bomb. It was a very thick jungle area. It is one of those patrols I can still vividly recall just because the sight was so awesome. On approach, there was at least a 100 yard area surrounding the site of totally denuded trees. It was spooky because there was no sound – nary a critter noise or anything. The mulched trees were surprisingly quiet to walk upon. Stepping past the tree line, there was nothing – just a relatively flat bare earth area. I cannot recall how big this area was, but it was big enough I remember thinking they could put a large FOB on it. Other than the awesome sight, it was an uneventful patrol, i.e. we found no sign of the bad guys. I wonder why.
Boom chacalaca, Boom chacalaca. Go boom-boom. There appears to have been increased hostility directed against our enemies in, oh, the last three months or so. Wonder why that is? Could it be the fence-sitter has departed and someone with a set who isn’t afraid to make decisions has assumed command? Nah, couldn’t be that, could it. Just wondering.
It is just a coincidence. /s
If once is an anomaly and twice is a trend, then the third time it’s policy.
1. Tomahawks to Syria.
2. Carl Vinson Battle Group to South Korea.
3. MOAB to A-Stan.
New Sheriff in town.
HOOAH!!
Talk about the sound of Freedom ! ! ! ! !
God Bless America””””
I heard about this on the news today, awesome. Achin district too, where I figured the SF NCO was killed.
If there’s a place in Afghanistan to drop a MOAB, it is Achin district. Also one of the places where they run to Pakistan whenever we’re looking for them, then come back to do bad things, then run back to Pakistan again.
They could take out about all of that place but a postage stamp of land and be super effective against bad people.
Boom!
Mainstream media being very dishonest in comparing the bomb to that of Little Boy. They have been pushing that the former is 11 tons of TNT and the latter is 15 tons of TNT.
No, the latter is 15,000 tons of TNT. Very pointless subterfuge.
I remember the term MOAB being used to describe some of the Ordinance dropped in Desert Storm.
I think it was a counter to Saddam’s announcement after the fight at Khafji when he told Iraqis that the ” Mother of All Battles” was just beginning.
Was thinking that some USAF type used the acronym.
Just for comparison, the cost of that thing would allow for enough napalm bombs to contain 3 million gallons of that lovely jellied fuel mixture….
As I’ve state many, many times napalm is still one of our most cost efficient killing options and should have never been taken from the arsenal.
Was Heavy Chevy at the controls of the 130? He’s probably claiming he was.
I thought DuffleBlog was supposed to be spoof news. This is pure satire:
http://www.duffelblog.com/2017/04/american-public-learns-still-fighting-afghanistan-pentagon-drops-huge-bomb/
What was the last thing to go through their minds when that thing detonated?
Their assholes!
That MOAB’s a bad Mother…” “SHUT YO MOUTH!”
But I’m talkin; Bout MOAB?
