“American Guns” reality star convicted
According to UK’s Daily Mail, Richard Wyatt the 53-year-old star of the Discovery Channel’s American Guns reality series was convicted in Denver on Friday for selling guns illegally and hiding $1.1m from the IRS.
A federal jury convicted the father-of-two on 10 felony counts and now the reality star faces up to 15 years in prison, according to Friday’s verdict.

He had signed on for two seasons, or 26 episodes, for a contract totaling nearly $500,000, despite knowing that his store didn’t have a legal license to sell guns.
Instead, Wyatt used other local guns stores to sell his weapons through, in a straw license scheme that he was recently convicted for, according to court records.
Wyatt’s lawyers tried to argue that the $1.1million in unreported income was simply because the gunsmith ‘was a horrible bookkeeper’.
Discovery Channel is having a rough time with their reality stars lately.

Reality bites. Hard.
Looks like he’s sweating a bit there… worried about Julio, Thor, Bubba and Mr. “Tiny”, maybe?
He’s heard the Mr Tiny……ain’t.
=》that…
He does look a bit uncomfortable.
The look of a man who realizes taking dumps in the future will be pure agony 😖💩
He could be imagining life w/o teeth. A former LEO in prison? Jeez, he’s in for a hard life.
This guy is a former cop too, he definitely knows better. Going to be a long, long 15 years in prison for him.
I don’t agree with either IRS or BATFEces, but for now, the law is the law. (sigh….) (shakes head, shuffles away).
Civil disobedience is one thing. 7-digit fraud is something else entirely.
I believe that this guy requires a low pass from ex-OS2.
ex-OS2:
Bring it, please.
You are cleared hot.
Cocksucker.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
(Time Delay Fuze)
Horrible bookkeeper? That’s his excuse? That sounds awfully Bidenish to me.
Almost seems as though the minute these people hit the small screen, their brains evaporate or shrink. Or maybe we’re just seeing the real reality part of the show.
Yeah, I’m a horrible bookkeeper too. Which is why I pay a tax guy who’s a good bookkeeper to keep my books for me. Easy solution, and CPAs ain’t exactly hard to come by.
Besides, I’m pretty sure even I could keep track of whether or not I have an FFL.
Wan Dum Fook.
Him fuck himself.
I recall a drinkee girl in a Seoul bar getting so mad at a round eye she yelled “you go fuckee myself!” General bar hilarity ensued. Seems this dude pretty much did that.
Damn language barrier gets ’em every time!
That’s why I never try to speak Khmer to my in-laws. I’ll be like Chris Tucker in “Rush Hour 2.” “Would you like to come over for dinner?” would end up as “Let’s get naked and sacrifice a small goat!”
Well, I will take one for the team and be Paige’s new daddy.
DAMMIT I wouldprefer ‘First’ on that commet to ‘First’ on the WOT!!!
Perhaps Paige could use a new “uncle”
And doesn’t The Discovery Channel seems to have a fine vetting system in place?
Surely you can’t be referring to their fine tradition of declaring phonies and embellishers “special forces veterans!”
The other gun show they had, the guy turned out to be a pedophile. I think it was Red Jacket Firearms.
Wasn’t that on the History Channel? I don’t think that was a Discovery Channel show.
It was Sons of Guns, and the idiot’s name was Will Hayden, may he burn in Hell…
“‘American Guns’ scandal not the first for Discovery” http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/03/13/american-guns-scandal-not-first-for-discovery.html ‘“American Guns” star Richard Wyatt is facing up to 15 years in prison after he was found guilty Friday of conspiracy, failing to disclose $1.1 million in income to the IRS and selling guns without a license. Wyatt lost his gun license in 2009, the Denver Post reports, yet from 2011 to 2012 he managed to film 26 episodes of a reality series that aired on Discovery Channel and centered around his Gunsmoke Guns shop and his firearm sales. “American Guns” was produced by Gurney Productions – the same company behind “Duck Dynasty” and several Shark Week specials. Discovery aired the show from October 2011 to December 2012. “Gunsmoke has the largest and most experienced group of gunsmiths in the state,” a description for the show on Gurney’s website reads. According to the Denver Post, Wyatt’s contract from the series earned him about $500,000. His conviction raises questions about how Discovery vets the stars they put on TV. And it’s far from the first time a reality show, or a Discovery reality show for that matter, has thrust someone into the spotlight with apparently subpar vetting. Discovery Communications—which includes channels like TLC, The Discovery Channel, OWN and Animal Planet— has had scandals with many of its stars. •Discovery Channel’s “Sons of Guns” was cancelled when star Will Hayden was arrested for aggravated rape of a minor, who family members have publicly identified as his own daughter. Later, his older daughter and former costar Stephanie Ford claimed her father had molested her when she was younger as well. •Ex “Dual Survival Cody Lundin claimed in a lawsuit that fellow star Joe Teti threatened to kill him while shooting their Discovery show. The network refused to comment on the claims or the lawsuit. •TLC’s “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” was shut down after photos surfaced that showed star Mama June spending time with an ex-boyfriend who served time for molesting her daughter. •“19 Kids and Counting” was canceled after news broke that one of that one of the Duggar siblings had sexually assaulted… Read more »
Unless the purpose of their “vetting system” is to ensure that the anybody who participates in one of their “reality” shows is a shameless, ethically challenged, publicity-seeking attention whore in which case I’d say their vetting system is fine indeed! See “Alaskan Bush People” for reference. 😉
Seems that reality keeps screwing with their reality.
Does this “Mountain Monsters” will get the axe?

*mean…must think before I type.
Ok, this assnugget is officially a DUMBASS!
Retired LEO here and also a Stocking Firearms Retailer for 14 years on LI….yes, with an FFL and local licenses.
I’ll bet Richard was called “Dick” for short, which is entirely appropriate in his case.
WHAT AN IDIOT!
Richard Wyats first conversation with his new cellmate “Tiny”….
Tiny: You wanna be da husband oh da wife in our newfound relationmascrimp?
Richard Wyat: (excitedly) The Husband !
Tiny; Fine wit me, now git ova here and suck yo wifes dick!
Someone just binge watched Hand Of God… 😛
IMHO he kinda has that Gary Busey look.
“Wyatt’s lawyers tried to argue that the $1.1million in unreported income was simply because the gunsmith ‘was a horrible bookkeeper’. ”
Well the good news is that he’ll have plenty of time on his hands to take that long overdue class on statistics and bookkeeping.
After reading this article, I went back to see what Will Hayden of Red Jacket Firearms was up to. (The show was “Sons of Guns.)
I was amazed to see that he is still awaiting trial after being arrested in late 2014 and early 2015. That’s two years in the slammer without even a trial.
His daughter and son in law were also arrested at one point for child abuse in how they “disciplined” a child from the daughter’s previous marriage.
The even odder thing was this:
Red Jacket Firearms, LLC, continues to make firearms and accessories under CEO Joe Meaux, who was the actual owner of Red Jacket Firearms, LLC, even as Will Hayden played the role of the owner in the 2011-2014 series. Hayden had owned another company named Red Jacket Firearms previously, but was stripped if his federal firearms license (FFL) in 2009 because of incidents in 2001-2008.
Will Hayden was never the owner or a company officer of Red Jacket Firearms LLC, and the company cut all ties with him once charges were filed against him.
Wyatt and Hayden were birds of a feather when it came to their weapons licenses.
The term “reality TV” is only 50% correct on the Discovery Channel.
Not missed. I couldn’t stand American Gun or Sons of Guns, being nothing more than bro-tastic reality TV fodder that gave a lot of people severe delusions of the value of their weapons.
Wyatt’s daughter was emintently bangable though and the only reason to even watch the show.
