Nigerian welfare scam

| March 13, 2017

Bobo sends a link to the story of an Arlington, Virginia woman, Helen Agbapuruonwu, who has been collecting welfare benefits for the last six years, while her husband, Fidelis Agbapuruonwu, was earning a seven figure income as a lawyer with the DC firm of Mayer Brown.

She’s been arrested while folks believe that Fidelis, a Nigerian immigrant, has “fled the country and is somewhere in Africa.”

Police say a six-month investigation into Helen Agbapuruonwu, 41, found that the mother of four had collected benefits like food stamps and Medicaid assistance for the past six years.

While Helen was collecting benefits, her husband, Fidelis Agbapuruonwu, was earning $1.5 million per year as a lawyer, according to court documents obtained by News4.

In 2001, Fidelis received the prestigious Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship which helped pay his way through law school.

And it appears that Fidelis Agbapuruonwu has fled the country to “somewhere” in Africa and is no longer employed by the law firm he was with.

Hack Stone

I heard that he fled to Fort Myers, Florida.

CB Senior

It will be alright. I was just in an email correspondence with her brother the Prince of Nigeria. If I send him my bank account info he will double my money that he uses to bail her out.

Deplorable B Woodman

Why does that G*******med name “Soros” seem to pop up everywhere I look?

“Will no on rid me of this troublesome priest?”
And this time, murder is an option.

MrBill

Paul Soros was the older brother of George Soros, and is now deceased. He and his wife funded scholarships for immigrants, but he doesn’t appear to have had the same degree of political involvement as his brother.

Deplorable B Woodman

Having left his wife and run off to Africa, it appears that Fidelis is not so Semper, is he?

With apologies to all jarheads out there…..

Club Manager

Deplorable, do not forget their two road guards and Cadence counters, and the beauties in their on-line photos.

Flagwaver

He’s not so ‘always’? I think you meant the other word, Fidelis (aka faithful).

Brown Neck Gaitor

Ironically now that her husband has left her and she has 4 kids and no income, she qualifies for that which she stole…

David

“I’ll come back to get you!”
“When?”
“Soon”
“How soon”
“Very soonnn…”

Fjardeson

Don’t leave me to die in the jungle like a snake, take me back to Queens!

Wilted Willy

I would give her the choice of either go back to Africa with your husband, or go to prison, your choice? This really pisses me off!

Flagwaver

You’re nicer than I am. She broke the law and should face the consequences, then be deported after spending ten to twenty-five in prison.

NavyEODguy

Bingo! At the absolute worst prison we have. None of the “club med” fed shit.

Waiting for Ex-OS2 to chime in here…

Mick

I put in a request for immediate ex-OS2 support in my post below.

Hopefully he’ll be inbound ASAP.

Graybeard

Any program that can be abused, will be abused.
I’d say hold her until she pays back every last dime, plus 10% interest compounded daily.

Freeze his bank account and seize his assets.

Hondo

Unfortunately, I’m guessing there’s a good chance that many if not nearly all of his assets are offshore – and were before he left the country.

OldSoldier54

Soros … does anything good come out of that family?

Dear Recipient;

My name is Fidelis Agbapuruonwu and I am currently separated from my wife who lives in the US. Tragic circumstances lead to me traveling to Nigeria where I am stuck without funds.

I earned a 7 figure income at a DC law firm in the US which I mostly deposited into a US bank account. This bank account is currently frozen.

If you can help a brother out I would like to transfer funds to your bank account and would be most honored to give you a percentage.

This would allow me to reunite with my wife and four children who were recently cut off from assistance payments.

Semper,

Fidelis

Ex-PH2

Yeah, fella – you worked for Mayer Brown. I know that law firm. You’re lucky they hired you and screwed the pooch when you baled and ran, so jam it.

Lex

Dear Mr. Agbapuruonwu,
I call bullshit on any associate — even a 15th year(!) at MB’s DC office— who says he’s making seven-figures.

Mick

ex-OS2:

We have two more targets here that require your attention. Welfare fraudsters in the open.

Cleared hot.

ex-OS2

Cocksuckers.

Mick

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

KA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

Thank you, sir. Two direct hits.

ex-OS2

“Helen Agbapuruonwu’s defense lawyer declined to comment.

Police say they hope this case is a deterrent to anyone who thinks about trying to cheat the system.

“We hope it sends a message that if you are taking public assistance it’s truly intended for those in need, and we’re committed to ensuring those who need the most help receive it,” said Arlington County Police spokeswoman Ashley Savage.”

Muahahahaahahahahahahahahaha gasp deterrent hahahahahaahahahahaha cheat the system ahahahah sends a message ahahahahahaahahahah ahaahah truly intended for those in need hahahaahahahahahahahahahaha we’re committed hahahahahahaha gasp gasp hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

A Proud Infidel®™

OOMPA-BOKKA POOPY-OOMY, I’m betting that Fidelis Agbapuruonwu has likely already married another wife in Nigeria and doesn’t give an oopa-booloowongoo about the one he left behind in jail.

Carlton G Long

Looks too much like S Epatha Merkeson for my taste. And she’s no prize either.

Just An Old Dog

Iv’e been assisting in helping people ID and avoid military romance scammers online.
I had a friend who is a military veteran who has had a unique experience/ Not only has he had his image copied and used by scammers he had traveled and worked in Nigeria.
His perspective of them, and one that I believe from having to deal with numerous scammers online is that fraud and fleecing people is considered a way of life and an accepted profession, no matter what their educational, professional or social level.
They consider themselves simply as the have-nots of the world who are entitled to get what they can from those who have.
As you can see in this case they are greedy as well.
This couple was living the American dream. They just saw one more slice of pie up for the taking.
Nigerians make gypsies look like Quakers.

C2Show

I think this is the same woman that was parading around Springfield trying to get money from people at metro station and news came to talk with her during investigation, she ran off.

unbelievable. I think there are a few crazy women like this here in DC area. Me and wife saw a Korean lady with a damn office outfit on walking up and down Eisenhower hwy w cardboard sign.

Hack Stone

Was the Korean lady good looking? Just asking, for a friend.

OWB

It took them how many years to discover that she was not eligible? Seems like the details should have been known before she got the first bennie.

Oh, forgive me. I sometimes forget that the objective of the bureaucrats is to sign up as many folks as possible. Their jobs depend upon them showing greater and greater need for their services.

ex-OS2

“details should have been known before she got the first bennie”

muhahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahaha
gasp gasp
Do you mean like verify an application?
hahahhahahahaaahahahahahahahaahahaha!!!!

I guess they missed her Mercedes in the parking lot.

“Their jobs depend upon them showing greater and greater need for their services.”

Spot on OWB. This is one of thousands if not millions of examples despite those that say it is “rare”.
