Wednesday morning feel good stories

| March 8, 2017

In Riverdale, Georgia;

About 10:45 a.m., officers responded to a location on Birch Circle, spokeswoman Nicole Rabel said.

The homeowner was inside at the time of the attempted break-in and shot the intruder, Rabel said. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

In Memphis, Tennessee;

When police arrived at this house, a man told officers he was asleep when he heard his girlfriend yelling that someone was in their home.

The man said he ran into the front of the house and found the suspect screaming and putting his hands near his jacket. The homeowner told police that he shot the suspect.

Another person in the home then hit the suspect in the head with his gun to stop him from leaving.

Police said the suspect ran from the house and was found nearby attempting to break into another house on the street.

Emmanuel Lane, 28, was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and attempted aggravated burglary. Lane was treated at the Regional Medical Center for his gunshot wound and other non-critical injuries.

From Indianapolis, Indiana;

The clerk told police that the suspect had attempted to rob the gas station when he fired at him.

Levi Walker, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they will be looking at surveillance video to determine if the clerk acted in self-defense. A spokesperson for IMPD says a gun was found on the suspect.

The clerk was not injured in the shooting.

From Houston, Texas;

Surveillance video showed that the suspect came up from behind the security guard and attempted to take his gun and a struggle ensued.

The struggle carried the two men outside the front entrance of the gas station into the parking lot.

Then the employee went to aid the security guard and struck the suspect in the head with a stick.

That is when the suspect tried to run and the guard shot the suspect in the leg.

Police are searching the nearby neighborhood for the suspect.

In Arlington, Texas;

A convenience store clerk in Arlington fatally shot a man who was reportedly trying to rob the store Monday night.

The shooting happened about 7:45 p.m. at the Super Save store in the 2500 block of E. Abram Street near Texas 360, said Lt. Chris Cook, police spokesman.

The clerk told police that two people entered the store and that one pulled out a gun.

“He believed they were there to rob him,” Cook said.

The clerk shot the man who allegedly pulled out the weapon.

OK, since it’s now spring training time it’s once again time for today’s TAH Armed Citizen Batting Line Analysis.

Today’s article features 6 total perps in 5 incidents. Of those 6 total perps, 2 no longer require oxygen (the Arlington, TX, perp was fatally wounded); 2 received high-speed heavy metal injection therapy and are in custody; another received high-speed heavy metal injection therapy, but is wounded and on the run; and one is in the wind, needs new underwear, and is facing potential felony murder charges if apprehended. None of their attempted crimes succeeded.

In baseball parlance, that’s a 5-for-5 day with 2 HRs, 2 other extra-base hits, and a solid single – plus a walk. Every MLB player will take that batting line any day of the week.

just a thought, Can the criminal who was wounded in the leg be charged with theft of private property? or does he now become the owner of 2 ounces of heavy metal??

If thugs try to rob a convenience store or gas station, what do they expect to get? $50, $200? Is that all that they figure their life is worth? Anyone dumb enough to think that small amount of money is worth their life is too dumb to be rationalized with. Just shoot the dopes.

I saw the video of the Houston incident – the security guard had 0 situational awareness. He was too busy looking at his phone or some such stupidity. He’s lucky he managed to survive, much less get a shot off. The store owner came to his aid with a pole and beat the perp some, too.

Situational awareness is requirement #1 for surviving an attack.

Heart of TEXAS (PSG, Ret.)

Situational awareness is a prerequisite for being a security guard.

One person hit the perp in the head with his gun to keep him from leaving? a shot to the head would have kept him from leaving and a lot easier on the gun!

I almost feel sorry for the TN perp (almost). Shot AND beaten. Sucks to be stuck on stoopid.

There is a reason that guy was working as a security guard at a gas station and not at a bank.

The Memphis story reminded me of training when the instructor told the class “anyone who swears that pumping a shotgun will freeze anyone in their racks is forgetting that people breaking into occupied homes are normally crazy or drugged up already – they’re just as likely to charge the sound of the shotgun. Don’t depend on noise alone.”

that’s what the trigger is for!!;)

The bad guys just can’t seem to catch a break and just have the ca$h handed over peaceably…..always some zealot with a “rod” there to irrigate their dumb ass. Pretty damned rude and inconsiderate as some poor bastard is hoing to have to clean up that mess.
