Washington Post tries to smear McMasters; fails miserably

| March 5, 2017

The Media has tried to trash every one of the President’s appointees to his cabinet and generally they’ve only proved themselves petty and small. But never as petty and small as the Washington Post’s attempt at smearing General HR McMaster, the President’s choice for his National Security Advisor.

President Trump’s new national security adviser, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, was investigated by the Army and admonished two years ago for mishandling a case involving two junior officers accused of sexual assault, military documents show.

McMaster violated Army regulations by permitting the two lieutenants to attend the service’s elite Ranger School even though they were under criminal investigation, according to a report by the Army inspector general.

Sounds serious, doesn’t it? Well, even the Post admits that it’s not serious at all if readers bother to read past the headline and the initial paragraphs;

The case against [the lieutenants] was dropped months later after the Army determined the alleged victim was not a credible witness.

[…]

Under Army regulations, the officers could have been properly cleared to attend Ranger School if they or McMaster had obtained a special waiver from the Army’s deputy chief of staff at the Pentagon.

McMaster told investigators that he was unaware of the waiver requirement. The inspector concluded that there was no evidence McMaster had “knowingly” violated that regulation.

McMaster allowed the pair of rugby players attend Ranger School because he didn’t want to judge them before they were proven guilty and ultimately needlessly damage their careers and it turns out that he was probably correct in his thinking. At the end of the Washington Post piece, they fess up that the woman who charged the pair with sexual assault was a bit of a nut;

As part of the rugby team investigation, the accuser had told Army investigators that she had also been raped by another West Point classmate, a member of the hockey team, while she was passed out in a hotel room.

The hockey player acknowledged having sex with her after they had gone to a bar and said it was consensual, though he told investigators that it was “possible” she had not been conscious the entire time.

The Army dropped charges against the hockey player after a preliminary hearing in which defense attorneys introduced evidence that the accuser had sent hundreds of text messages to the hockey player after they had sex, including two topless photos of herself. The evidence contradicted a sworn statement from the accuser that she had cut off all communications with the man.

Confronted about the texts on the witness stand, she said she did not remember sending them. But her testimony led an investigating officer for the Army to conclude that her “credibility is null,” according to a memo of his findings in the rape investigation.

The Post hints that McMaster was taking care of the lieutenants because of the “good old boy network” because McMaster had also been a member of the West Point rugby team. I guess they had to write something after they went to the trouble of getting a FOIA and all they had was this pathetic attempt at attacking a true American hero.

“In 3rd grade he cheated by looking at a test paper of the person next to him! He’s a scumbag who should never be allowed to work anywhere!”

And they wonder why Trump swings that fake news brush so broadly.

I’ve always seen the onus placed on the sending command and HRC regarding eligibility. Waiver requests are done through the O-6 level, but those focus on medical reasons or attending after failure. I’m sure most waivers never even reach the CG’s desk since he has a Colonel over RTB. If there’s one thing I learned, it’s that Colonels run the Army now, at least from a personnel/training standpoint.

rgr769

Yes that is true for the RTB. At a large 75th Ranger reunion, I heard the first person account of the O-4 who was the ops officer for the RTB about what he did when the first woman showed up with orders for Ranger School. He called the O-6 at Building 4 and told him they had a problem because an LTC just showed up with orders for Ranger School. The Col. said, “So what’s the problem, Bill? We’ve had LTC’s take the course before.” The Major responded: “Yes, sir. But this one is wearing a skirt.” By the end of the day, her orders were cancelled, courtesy of the O-6, via a few phone calls. That occurred sometime back in the 1980’s, IIRC. So, I guess the Army had some SJW’s serving in personnel even back then.

This article reveals at least two of the central tenets of modern regressive progressivism.

1. No one is innocent if they are not toeing the progressive SJW line. Period. Toe the line and repeat the lies or be destroyed.

2. Evidence is unwanted as it tends to disprove rule 1. Not only is evidence not desired, facts are racist or sexist or whateverist.

The only exception is Rule 3. Rule 3 states that no actual behavior of the type so hated by progressives is ever a problem if you are a progressive. This is why Ted Kennedy could be the philandering, walking sexual assault bomb he was but still be a “hero” to the movement.

The typist for the DNC who wrote the article is a faithful fellow traveler and will be suitably rewarded once the progs turn the USA into Cambodia…

Ditto. Progtardism is truly a mental disease and an obsession of its true believers.

Look up a list of the wealthiest counties in America and what you’ll see is that the D.C. metro area is disproportionately represented. In 2012 it was 7 out of the top 10. If Wikipedia is to be believed, today it is 10 out of he top 20. The livelihood and wealth of that area relies on big government and many of those who are employed there got their jobs by being part of “the right set”, in that they went to the right schools, they came from the right families and they hold the “right ideas”. The Washington Post is their daily paper and now they find themselves threatened by an administration that is almost entirely from outside “the right set”. They’re frightened that maybe the Republicans, up until now the tame “opposition” party, might finally have to live up to its promises to the rubes out in the hinterlands and cut their cushy jobs out of the Federal budget, so their house organ is on the attack. All of these attacks are a testament to their fear and it will be their undoing if only the administration will not allow itself to become distracted.

What you say is true. You’re either working for the gov’t, suing it, or both. There is no middle class to speak of in the area and those who are commute. D.C. residents are of two flavors: those who are on social services and those who socialites.

rgr769

And don’t forget the overpaid gubmint drones who dole out the social services to the D.C. underclass.

I heard that in third grade General HR McMaster was one of a group of students who engaged in a spitball fight. There is also an unconfirmed report that he once, at the same school, put tacks in the blackboard erasers. Now, I ask you, is this the type of person we really want as a National Security Adviser?

UpNorth

2/17, I’ve heard the rumor that, in 6th grade, the General engaged with other 6th graders in at least one or two games of Dodgeball. In the second game, it’s rumored by Daily Kos and Media Matters, that he hit another 6th grade boy in the ‘nads, on purpose. And then he laughed about it.

2/17 Air Cav

Must be true. I omitted that but I heard the same things. I am outraged.

A Proud Infidel®™

Well I HEARD RUMOR that the General once cut a fart out loud in class when he was a Kindergartener as well as cutting farts after eating MRE’s in the past, what an outrage!

Just An Old Dog

There’s even a more serious offence on McMasters.
While stationed in Kansas he pulled all the “do not remove under penalty of law” tags off his mattress.

(How DARE he do the right thing, for the right reasons, resulting in the right outcome.)

There. That’s my quota of feigned outrage for the day.

So, it’s considered “good ol’ boy” to not lynch somebody without trial based on he-said-she-said accusations by an accuser who lies? Hmm, good to know. Sooooo, about that Clinton guy…

WaPo will not change to sanity for a while. They’re still sucking from the same flagon of now-stale ale that brought them Deep Throat. They’re hoping for that ‘big thing’ that brings down the Trumpster, who trumped their game but good.

And my mumbling, hormone-stricken pussycat is and will always be light years ahead of them in brains.

The only way they and others like them will be brought to a screeching halt is when/if/when they get a leak that they think is ‘really something’, run with it, and then it turns out to be a complete hoax foisted on them by some ordinary citizen who is laughing himself silly over it.

If they had any shame I would believe it but they have no shame.

Ncat

None who wish the current administration well should be upset about such reporting, of course. The media’s agenda has become so incredibly transparent over the years, this type of thing actually helps.

The outrage-inducing left, particularly the idiot Hollywood types, but others as well, still haven’t figured out how much they had to do with Trump’s victory.

Tales of woe? McMaster, like Mattis, is a god among men who causes panties to soak simply by occupying the same time zone!

You can get McMasters book for Kindle $10,”Dereliction of Duty”, caution it will piss you off when you do, especially if you are a veteran of RVN.

reddevil

This piece has a lot of misleading information.

First, Big Mac was not the investigating officer; the alleged incidents took place while the accuser and accused were cadets at USMA. McMaster comes in because the accused were attending Infantry or Armor BOLC.

Second, the piece gives the impression that there is some sort of centralized Ranger board that picks who goes. Not the case. LTs at Infantry and Armor BOLC automatically get Ranger slots as long as they are qualified. Infantry LTs are expected to go- they are committing career and social suicide if they don’t.

Third, keep in mind that McMaster ‘gave these guys a break’ by sending them to RANGER FUCKING SCHOOL. He didn’t give them a cush job on his staff, an underserved promotion, or even their assignment of choice. No, he sent them to 62 days of carrying 100 pound rucks up and down mountains, through the woods, and into the swamp. And they got a letter of reprimand when they finished.

Finally, it is not clear to me as a former commander that you can flag someone and prevent due course schooling for as yet unproven allegations.

It’s called undue command influence. We used to automatically issue GO Memorandums of Reprimand in DUI cases. For officers and senior NCOs, these essentially kept you from being promoted, thereby ending your career. However, sometimes Soldiers would hire a good lawyer and get the charge reduced or changed or even win the case outright. However, the Army has used administrative procedures to issue de facto punishment to an innocent Soldier.

The lady interviewed for the piece really annoys me- Sue Fulton went to USMA, served a few years, and got out as a Captain. Now she is a central figure in a bunch of different advocacy groups (SWAN, Knights Out, etc). What bugs me is she has very little practical military experience but she has no problem proposing all sorts of policy changes. Not helpful

The Other Whitey

But remember, according to his the media, only the Cool Kids go to Ranger School and if girls don’t automatically pass, it’s sexist. Quit confusing their argument with facts and logic!

A Proud Infidel®™

Let’s not forget that saying “NO” to political correctness is also total sacrilege to leftards.

rgr769

SJW bitches gotta SJW, its what proggies do. I wasn’t “selected” for Ranger School, either. I was sent there in my first set of orders sending me on AD after I received my RA (Regular Army) commission, although I would have volunteered for it anyway. Starting in 1968, Ranger School was mandatory training for all RA commissioned combat arms (Infantry, Armor, and Artillery) O-1’s.

reddevil

These days it is technically voluntary, but an Infantry officer without a tab is a second class citizen in anything but a Bradley unit, and even those officers are highly encouraged to attend at the first opportunity.

At Bragg, it is not unheard of for LTs without a tab to wait over a year for a platoon, and some never get it. There are Infantry captains out there that never had a line platoon or company, and will therefore probably not make Major.

Remember that the Army still rotates Infantry officers through, I,A, and S BCTs, so the LT without a tab in a CAB where it isn’t such a big deal will next be assigned to a Stryker or Infantry BCT where it is.

McMaster would have effectively limited the careers of these two LTs by holding them back.

rgr769

I didn’t realize tabs were so common among the officer corps now. When I served in the 509th PIR (8TH ID), the 4th ID, and the 23rd ID/ 196th LIB, ranger tabs on infantry officers were still somewhat unique among junior officers. In the three infantry battalions I served in over a 32 month time frame, less than 15% of the officers had the tab. But then almost all of the junior officers were not RA. But the majority of the Academy graduated Inf. officers had the tab. The majority of the SF officers I served with on AD did not have the tab, but that was back in the 1972-1975 period.

reddevil

It really depends on the unit. It is more common in light, airborne, and air assault units.

Prior to OIF, Infantry LTs basically recycled ’til they got their tab. I knew a guy that did every phase twice.

Once we started rotating units to Iraq/Afghanistan, LTs were under more pressure to get to their units to deploy, and the Tab was less important. In other words, an LT finishes IBOLC with orders for a BCT in 3ID deploying in 180 days. They go to Ranger school and fail a patrol in Mountains. They still have to go to Bradley Leader because they are going to a mech unit. They now have the hard choice of recycling or joining their unit to train-up with their unit prior to a combat deployment.

rgr769

Back in the olden days (my era), one recycle and you were done if you didn’t successfully complete that phase the second time around. An NG officer in my student platoon was at the mountain phase when he broke his ankle and was taken out because the M.D. X-rayed his ankle when he went to sick call for meds for his walking pnuemonia. He had been walking on it in the mountains for over a week. He was quite upset because this was his second slot at Ranger school (he failed out the first time) and he knew his unit would not give him another one.

Eden

A family member of mine injured his ankle at the end of IBOLC and had to report to his follow-on assignment without going to Ranger School first. He completed it about six months later after rehabbing his ankle, but although he did get a platoon almost immediately, that was a long six months for him.

Like Jonn recommended block the shit head and don’t respond.
He is a harmless, but irritating shit dabbler. However, if you go off on him and write anything threatening and he gets enough of your personal information he may turn it over to Dan Bernath, AKA the ball-working ass lord of Fort Meyers.
Bernath, on the other hand, will try to get you in court, call your employers and send out numerous letters and emails to people and agencies saying you are a convicted sex offender, a drug deal, etc.
There are people on this forum who have been subjected to his shit for years. Its not worth it.
The Wittengenfeld door leads to Bernath. You don’t want to get wrapped up in that mess.
