“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

| August 2, 2016

Jonn wrote the other day about Venezuela’s new forced labor policies.  That forced labor is deemed “necessary” because the Venezuelan economy      has been mismanaged into the ground by the Bolivarians      is having severe difficulties.   Basic foodstuffs and commodities like toilet paper are in short supply or are unavailable.

Well, yesterday we learned how the Venezuelan “Nomenklatura” are getting by.  Turns out they’re suffering, too.

They’re being forced to wear $12,000+ wristwatches.

Oh, and don’t forget frequent luxury travel.  Venezuelan      Commissar       President Maduro has traveled – with a large entourage, of course – to 32 different countries, taking 132 days, since taking power.  That translates to about 11% of his time in office.

Fox News Latino has a good story giving more details.  It’s worth a read.

Some animals apparently are indeed more equal than others.

This could be seen as a look into the future for America, if we continue with our spending spree. This “Spending other people’s money thing has been shown, over time, to not be a viable way to run an economy, whether it be a nation, a City, or even a family.
The USA has proven that Capitalism will keep a nation afloat, provided the government stay the hell out of its way.

If you read ‘Hunger Games’, the ‘country’ in which it’s set is called Panem. Panem in Latin means ‘bread’. The Latin for ‘bread and circuses is ‘Panem et circenses’.

I expect that to start next.

B Woodman

Hhmmmm. .. when I was reading the books, I was thinking of “Panem” as a corruption of “PanAm”, Pan America. Thank you for that second insight.

The citizens of the capitol seem fond of the old romans. the connection becomes clearer when you consider how they all have names like plutarch and cenna. also, much like the roman elite is often portrayed, they live in excess while the plebs barely scrape by and only exist to provide for them.

I always thought that our modern circus are TV and the internet. Something to keep the masses laughing and their minds occupied while the real problems are ignored. Although if I look at the population in general, we (me included) could definitely stand to do without the bread for a while. 😉

Bread was a staple of the diet in the Mediterranean area, just as rice was/is a staple diet food in Asia/SE Asia. Flatbread, such as pita, has a history that goes back thousands of years. It would be the unleavened bread the Israelites ate when they left Egypt for Canaan. Leavened bread has a leavening agent such as yeast or baking soda/sodium bicarbonate in it, not too hard to obtain in Egypt since beer was a common drink back then.
Both leavened and unleavened bread can carry a filler. If you’ve ever had filled ‘pita pockets’, you know what I’m talking about.
It wasn’t so much that the citizens of Rome had less than the upper class. There was a middle class of merchants, skilled artisans and scholars, but there was also the usual lower class that, like now, waited for the handouts from the government. Some of the Caesars, to keep them quiet, would throw out the ‘bread and circuses’. I don’t remember which one started that. Might have been Caligula or Tiberius, before him. But the modern day equivalent was Jane Byrne, the female mayor of Chicago in the late 1970s, starting Taste of Chicago to keep people from grumbling about her administrative failures. It was nothing but a theatrical distraction, just as it was in the Roman era.

As a friend is fond of saying, “Marxism is intellectualism for stupid people.”

Hack Stone

Somehow this must be the fault of George Bush.

Who?

“Our Party and every member and supporter should be deeply involved in the campaigns, organizations, coalitions that are working to reach, educate, and mobilize millions of voters to the polls to defeat Trump and the GOP.”

The Party referred to is not the Democrat party. It is not the Libertarian Party. The party is “our Party” is the Communist Party USA. (BTW, I visited the CPUSA website to learn how they are viewing the Venezuelan crisis. What I found makes me ask, “What crisis?” The CPUSA is oddly silent but its archives are full of wonderful but dated articles extolling the virtues of Venezuelan socialism.)

Blaster

It may not be the Democratic Party, but they operate the same – if it doesn’t fit in our agenda, we pretend it doesn’t exist.

2/17 Air Cav

Absolutely. I used that quote b/c it could well have been stated by the Dems. The Communist Party USA has cast Trump as the villain and his opponent as the next-best Bernie.

Blaster

Just remember that the last 2 presidential elections have been decided by people 25yo and under.

Now that should scare the hel out of everyone.

FatCircles0311

lol no.

They’ve been decided by white stay at home women which is why Obama became the first day time talk show pres when he was campaigning.

Youth vote is still largely irrelevant and no where close to mattering.

AW1Ed

‘Bout time for the old torch and pitchfork routine there.

That’s the first quote I use when I think of Washington DC, or even Hollywood (the west coast DC).

The second is, “I don’t wanna overthrow them, I wanna fire them!” by Gallagher

The political elite in most countries don’t ever have to worry about how they’re going to feed their family, or how they will pay for their children’s education. They will always find a way, whether its “Tax money” or lobbyists money.

Where the hell is Sarseyboi when we need him to explain how wonderful socialism is !!!

Well, boys and girllzz, the dummycraps have sunk to a new low. Somewhere, according the Nicki, who is laid up with a bum leg for a while, there are nekkid pix of Mrs (Melania) Trump. She did not provide the link, but apparently, taking your clothes off for a modeling career is a no-no. But this going around somewhere, with the usual childish finger-pointing.

My response to this is that these finger-pointers and hypocrites should try three semesters of figure drawing with nekkid male and female models and learn to shut the frack up. You come into the world buck naked, and so help me you leave the same way.

The hypocrisy is not stunning. Those skanks in the media did the same things to Diana Spencer and Marilyn Monroe. I hope Mrs. (M) Trump has the cojones to answer with ‘So what? You jealous or something?’

Not that anyone would want to see the buzzards buck nekkid who are gossiping the most about it, but it does tell you how low they’ll stoop, doesn’t it? If we could just find some of those Ft. Lauderdale ‘Girls Gone Wild’ tapes of them….

The GQ photo shoot from 2000 is merely resurrected. During the nomination campaign, one of the photos appeared and Trump blamed Cruz and then threatened Mrs. SCruz with some form of retaliation. Cruz said it wasn’t he who was responsible for the photo’s new life (and it wasn’t) and understandably took umbrage at the threat. And that’s at least one of the reasons Cruz refused to endorse Trump at the RNC.

Let this be a warning; with the lack of toilet paper down there, don’t shake hands with any Venezuelans you may meet any time soon.

Usafvet509

But, will they do like the A-rabs, left hand?

Socialism boils down to:

Misery loves company.

And

You only hurt the ones you love.
