Sunday morning feel good stories

| June 19, 2016

Really slim pickin’s this morning. AverageNCO sends us a link to a story in Joplin, Missouri. Scott Hasty went into town the other day, like always, he strapped on his handgun on his belt. He encountered Derek A. Patton who claimed that he was a federal agent and he demanded to see Mr Hasty’s permit to carry a gun. Mr. Hasty replied that he didn’t need a permit, and he asked Mr Patton for his badge – Patton refused which piqued Mr Hasty’s suspicions. Someone called the police and they found that Mr Hasty was in compliance with Missouri’s open carry laws. Mr Patton, however, was arrested for impersonating a police officer (he wasn’t bright enough to stop claiming to be a federal agent when the police arrived) and false imprisonment.

In Josephine County, Oregon back in April, Linzin Rooni Eshalom was part of a crew that tried to rob a home. One of the adults who lived there heard dogs barking and went outside to check. He was pistol whipped and shot (he has since recovered from his injuries). A teen in the home grabbed a .357 Magnum pistol and shot Eshalom three times. While he was in the hospital recovering, Eshalom checked himself out and fled to Arizona where he was picked up and sent back to Oregon for trial where he was sentenced on Thursday to 45 months in jail as part of a plea deal with prosecutors to charges of first-degree attempted assault, first-degree burglary and unlawful use of a weapon. A charge of attempted murder was dismissed. Three of his accomplices are still on the loose.

Neighbors respond to the shooting by a homeowner of an armed thief he found standing over him in his bedroom in Dayton, Ohio the other day. It looks like America is fed up with the crime.

Yep, America is fed up with the crime. And fed up with the prosecutors who plea bargain down, so they don’t have to work as hard in the court room.

.357 Mag is a beast…sh1thead got lucky surviving 3 hits. Need a head shot w/ one of those rounds & remove burden from taxpayers.

Was also wondering how the perp managed to survive that. Only things I can think of is the teen was excited as hell and not aiming well, or perhaps the pistol was loaded with .38 Special ammo vice .357 mag.

Devtun

Yep, .357 Mag revolvers are so damn versatile being able to fire the .38 SPL rounds as well. I can only think of one .357 Mag pistol – the Desert Eagle (no doubt a few others – not the most common thing I imagine).

Instinct

The Wife has a Ruger SP101. IT’s fine with .38 but .357 in it has a definite kick.

No lie. I’m pretty well impervious to recoil in a handgun but my short barreled sp101 with full house 158gr was more than I cared for on a regular basis.

Friend of mine knew a stripped who took one in the head from a .357 and lived to tell of it (and continue stripping). No such thing as an infallible round, hence the good advice “Don’t stop shooting when you think he’s dead, stop shooting until HE thinks he’s dead”

“Mr Patton, however, was arrested for impersonating a police officer (he wasn’t bright enough to stop claiming to be a federal agent when the police arrived) and false imprisonment.”

Man, they just get dumber every day, don’t they?

It’s good to see that Mr. Hasty was so quick to call the police.
