PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Town of Fairmount Heights

— Spanish Translation is Below —
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit assumed the investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred in the town of Fairmount Heights this weekend. The decedent is identified as 30-year-old Edward Coates III of Temple Hills.

On May 18, 2025, at approximately 4:00 am, officers responded to the 5700 block of J Street where they encountered two victims, a man and a woman, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both of their injuries are considered non-life-threatening. Officers also located Coates outside with multiple injuries to include a gunshot wound. He died a short time later at a hospital.

The preliminary investigation revealed Coates was in the neighborhood attempting to break into cars. He and the male shooting victim encountered each other outside. Coates, who was armed with a gun, chased the male victim around a house where they got into a physical struggle over the weapon. Occupants in the home came outside to intervene. During the struggle, multiple shots were fired, and the two victims were struck. One of the occupants eventually gained control of the weapon and shot Coates.

The Homicide Unit has been in consultation with the State’s Attorney’s Office. All parties have been identified, and at this time, there are no charges filed in this case.

Woman’s ex-boyfriend shot and killed while breaking into her home on Houston’s northside, HPD says

Chaz Miller
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Investigators said a home break-in led to one man being killed and another leading police on a high-speed chase on Tuesday.

The Houston Police Department said the series of events started just before 1 a.m. in a neighborhood near Ella and West Gulf Bank.

A woman was with her boyfriend when she called the police, reporting that someone was trying to break into her home. He told her to go hide in the closet, where she stayed on the phone with the police.

Investigators said two suspects kicked in the door, and the woman’s boyfriend shot and killed one of them. It turns out that the man who was shot was the woman’s ex-boyfriend.

According to authorities, the other man took off in a gray Jeep, was spotted by a patrol unit, and led police on a high-speed chase.

That suspect went off road, into a bayou near Frick Road, and was arrested around 1 a.m.

Houston police said the chase reached 100 mph at some point, and a pistol was recovered from the suspect.

According to Lt. JP Horelica, the two people inside the house were not harmed.

Nicely done, and KHOU isn’t even trying.

Thanks again, Gun Bunny.

Old tanker

Well the gene pool got a little cleaner.

What one may call…”A good start…”, right Old tanker? I don’t think that there’s enough grilled crab cakes in the whole damn state of “Murderland, My Maryland…” to get our Beloved AW1Ed back up there. And Houston is a daily “go to” for FGS. A target rich environment.

People doing nefarious things are just like the politicians. They both want the citizen disarmed…and for the same reasons.

No boom stick that can chunk a pumpkin is “worthless”. As the Brits found out…the hard way.

Hack Stone

About twenty some years ago, back when the WTOP news website would allow comments, someone posted some sage advice that Hack Stone Carrie’s with him to this day. That advice being “Don’t ever live in a location in Prince George’s County with Hill or Heights in the name.”

If you live on the National Capital Region, you frequently see reporters do a live feed from the latest random violence.

Oxon Hill
Temple Hills
Congress Heights
Capital Heights
Fairmount Heights
District Heights
Landover Hills
Forest Heights

Probably left out a few.

I lived in Cheverly as a child. Don’t have a single fond memory of the place. My brother had five bicycles stolen, our car was hit twice on the street by hit and run drivers in early morning hours, our neighbors on both sides were burglarized, I was jumped by five kids who stole the shoes off my feet, many of the kids I went to elementary school with are either dead or in prison and my mother was mugged by an armed gunman walking home from the Metro after work one evening.

That last event precipitated our moving to Fairfax County and the difference was night and day back then.

But now Fairfax is run by Progressive Democrats who want boys in the girls locker room.

Yes, they turned it into a poorly designed mega city rife with corruption.

True story, in high school we used to drag race down a 1 mile straight away on 286 between Rte 50 and Fair Lakes Pkwy for a few years right after it was built. You could do that because there was no traffic after 5pm. For a loop track we used Monument Drive where it loops around to Government Center Parkway. There were no traffic lights when it was first built and if you check your map it makes a nice challenging little course, since nothing is banked. It was also secluded with nothing around.

An extra feel good story. If you think the US has QC problems in defense contracting, how about sinking a 5000 ton Destroyer dock side on launch?

A gun with a 5 foot barrel only weighing 10 pounds? Guess when you have a BIG hole in thebarrel, it takes a lot of steel out. At that weight, I can see why once they were adapted to bayonets soldiers liked them – one or two shots and then bayonet time – and your bayonet is a foot further front than his. Sweet…
