Roger Sturdevant Sr.; phony Marine infantryman/POW

| May 19, 2016

Roger Sturdevant Sr.

Pat noticed this story about Roger Sturdevant Sr. in the Waco Tribune. I hope you’re sitting down;

Sturdevant, 66, was just 19 and living in his hometown of Dallas when he joined the U.S. Marines. His primary job was an infantryman, but he also served as a helicopter crew chief and hydraulics specialist when he was sent to Vandergrift Combat Base, north of Ca Lu in Qu?ng Tr? Province, in Vietnam.

[…]

So after basic training in San Diego, Sturdevant found he was on his way to Vietnam, arriving in August 1969. Serving with the Infantry in Mike Co., 3/4 Fleet Marines, he was a foot solider [sic], heading one day to the river, the next day to the jungle, or to a particular marked hill on the following day.

The mission was to locate booby traps or handle any stray enemy that may impede the path of the Army that was to come through. But about three weeks into his tour, Sturdevant stepped on a booby trap with pungi sticks, (spikes made from wood or bamboo) and was injured, not from the spikes piercing his skin, but from breaking his leg.

While Sturdevant was convalescing with a cast back at base, he had some free time on his hands. One day he saw a medevac helicopter with some problems and decided to fix them. The captain liked it so much, he asked Sturdevant to join him after he got his cast off.

Sturdevant had an opportunity to get the cast off a week early, but there was no transportation available to go to the doctor in Qu?ng Tr?. The next day, he took off walking, hoping to catch a ride along the way. There was plenty of traffic at first, but everyone was loaded down with equipment, troops, etc. Soon, the traffic died down and he was alone walking along the road.

Suddenly, Sturdevant was struck from behind and dragged into the woods by two men. They broke his cast, stripped his clothes, and tied him up. The men who captured him carried him about two miles into a village, where he was put in a bamboo cage. They placed a tarp over the cage and would carrying him from village to village in the early morning hours, on their way to “Hanoi Hilton.”

It was a painful experience; women and children would take sticks, heat them over a fire and poke him with them, leaving him with scars all over his body. He got very little food, was spat upon and shrouded in darkness during their travels. The enemy also broke both his little fingers when he refused to reveal anything more than his name, rank and service number.

Fortunately for Sturdevant, a Marine Corp Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol in the area saw what was happening and ended up rescuing him. He was never listed as MIA or a POW, because his commander insisted that he was on “basket leave,” an extended leave of absence, after which the paperwork is destroyed and never recorded.

OK, so let’s look at what was true about that story; Roger joined the Marines a few days before his 19th birthday, and yes, he was assigned to M Company, 3/4th Marines. he was in Vietnam with them. As near as I can tell, he was with them in Vietnam for two months from August 28th, 1968 to October 4, 1968. By the end of October, he was at Camp Butler on Okinawa. The rest of the time, he was stateside at Camp Pendleton, CA, Missouri and Texas. He wasn’t an infantryman – his records say that he was an auto mechanic. Later in his career, he was a helicopter mechanic. Could he have been an infantryman in Vietnam – yep, in the Marine Corps, that’s always a possibility.

Of course, the whole POW story is just horseshit, walking to the hospital with a cast on his leg in the jungle, including the part where they had him accounted for on leave instead of being a POW. Yeah, that makes perfect sense, but, you know, that’s just something you say if you don’t want someone to check the records at DPAA. But I checked anyway;

Sturdevant Assignments3

Sturdevant Assignments4

He was three weeks into his eight week tour of Vietnam and he spent two weeks as a POW, that means his leg healed from a break in three weeks well enough for him to walk through the jungle to get to the hospital.

But it doesn’t end there. There was a part two in the Waco Trib;

After a few years, he went back into the service with the Army when it offered him a $2,000 sign-on bonus and his pick of locations. He chose Fort Carson, Colorado, where he was named Soldier of the Month three times in a row. He was a platoon sergeant and drill instructor.

Orders came in to report to Fort Benning, Georgia, and while there, he signed up for jump school and then Airborne Ranger training. He served as a “ranger aggressor,” playing the role of the enemy, but he never really got to use his airborne skills. Once word came that he would be transferred to Italy unaccompanied (without his wife), he decided to leave the service in 1978.

That’s funny because the Marine Corps says that he was in the Corps until 1982 – but he says he was in the Army.

During his time in deployment in Vietnam, he earned a Vietnam Service Medal, two Bronze Stars and a Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross), among many other decorations.

He must be counting the two bronze service stars on his VSM as Bronze Star Medals. This guy. Math is not his stong suit.

Another turd sack shitting on decent and honorable service with lies of derring didn’t and false bravado…

I like they put him in a bamboo cage…it’s always a bamboo cage…I’m surprised it wasn’t a cage in the water where they made him come out and play Russian roulette from time to time until he got them to give him three bullets to play with so he could shoot his three captors and get his buddies out of the cage….

Dumbass….

Ex-PH2

You left out the rats Charlie dropped on his face, VOV.

Rats are important. They add to the ‘YUKKY’ factor.

Hack Stone

Why do you have to bring Daniel Bernath into this conversation, Ex-PH2?

HMCS(FMF) ret.

I’m sure that the local houseboy was named Lon Duc Dong… always made him Cream of Sum Yun Guy soup… did LRRP missions into Hanoi trying to shoot at Uncle Ho, or steal his sandals. Spent his time living in Pun Tang village in Ho Li Fuk Provence… held his dying boot camp buddy in his arms during a firefight… yada, yada, yada.

Turdevent shit all over his time in the Marine Corps with his fucking bullshit lies… fucker needs to be dimes out to the MCL and an other Vet organization for his bullshit coming out of his cakehole.

BTW, Turdevent, if you’re reading this, go choke yourself on a fucking bag of cream filled dicks… cocksucker!

Green Thumb

I wonder if those two dudes that kidnapped him into the woods got sexual?

This clown has definitely got the good drugs.

What fucking turd.

The reporter should be canned as well.

Jarhead

Rumor has it he auditioned for the scene where Ned had to squeal like a little piggy. Trouble was he liked it so much he began to bark like a dog and they decided to replace him with Ned.

Hack Stone

Deliverance; The Musical.

Hondo

Maybe he was just having a flashback to a tour afloat? (smile)

Green Thumb

More like he “flashed” his “back-side” and they came a running.

I doubt he put up much resistance.

That’s only because Ol’ Roger was rescued by a “Marine Corp Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol” before he got there. Didn’t you read the article? sheesh…../s

A Proud Infidel®™

Long Range Recoinnasance Patrol (LRRP) is an Army type of unit, they replaced Long Range Patrol ( LRP) units. Holy Batshit in a cracked bamboo bowl, ha think he might name *SLUUUURRP!*41 as one of his rescuers?

I only offer this, plus some headbanging:

Combat Historian

This “story” is so asinine my asshole is hurting; as Faker 6 is so fond of saying, I’m going to the can to lay a big fat Giduck as I ponder this hero’s miraculous tale of faith and survival in the horrific jungles of Northern I Corps, RVN…

2/17 Air Cav

The byline reads, “By MARY DRENNON Special to the Tribune-Herald.” And special it is, like a retard wrote it. Drennon has been doing these military profile pieces for years. Reading this one, to borrow from her, truly “was a painful experience.” One would think that some cursory evidence would be in order prior to writing someone’s fanciful account as fact. But one would be wrong.

B Woodman

“Isn’t that special. . . .”.
Did she write the Special Short bus to work?

2/17 Air Cav

That’s my guess, too.

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Looks like “fact checking” isn’t her strong suit…

Ex-PH2

Dah troof about MARY DRENNON is that, as a reporter, she writes drek.

What she REALLY wants to do, in the darkest corners of her crimpled soul, is write novels. But she has so many, many othe obligations that she just can’t find the time somehow.

Perhaps someone could politely critique her article by pointing out the obvious flaws and errors, and the lack of fact-checking on her part, one of which involves the bamboo cage thingy, without being a big ol’ meanie about it.

I find it as tiresome and annoying as you all do to read this stuff repeatedly when there are plenty of place that writers can reference to get facts and check with people who WERE there and who can help them avoid embarrassing themselves by an attention drone.

As it is, this GUY belongs in the nearest SLRRPR unit with the other SLRRPR.

Kat

I think I’ve seen some of her work, she write Navy SEAL romance books? The massive poled, 6″4″ LCDR strolled in the room and… Every guy is a CDR,6’4″ and massively poled…that fits only one team guy I know. You write that stuff and faux mil stories are easy to con-cock-T.

2/17 Air Cav

“Perhaps someone could politely critique….” That politely part let’s me out.

Dapandico

A real bad ass would have removed the cast using a P38 and lid from a C Rations can.

Hack Stone

No, he would use his K-Bar.

Hondo

Jonn, 28 Aug 69 to 4 Oct 69 (inclusive) is only 38 days – or less than 5 1/2 weeks. That means this LSoS was in Vietnam for about 2 1/2 weeks after his “I stepped on a punji stake and broke my leg” claim.

If he was held POW for 2 weeks, that means he was humping down the road in a leg cast about 3 days after breaking his leg. Not buying that, folks.

Further, if he’d broken his leg due to stepping on a punji stake, that should have qualified him for a Purple Heart – pretty sure injuries incurred due to booby traps planted by the enemy qualified. There isn’t one in his records.

If he got MEDEVACed out of Vietnam with a broken leg, I’m guessing he got it one of 3 ways: playing grabass back at basecamp; in some kind of non-combat accident or incident; or because he p!ssed-off someone he shouldn’t have.

Combat Historian

3/4 Marines departed Vietnam in late November 1969 as part of the draw-down of U.S. forces in Vietnam. He may have been part of the advance party that left early to set up shop for the battalion when it redeployed to Okinawa a month later…

Hondo

Don’t think so, CH. If I’m reading them correctly, his records show him spending about a month in the hospital on OKI after leaving Vietnam. I’m thinking he was MEDEVACed with a non-combat injury or illness.

USMCMSgt(Ret)

Great point. You’d think that by now posers would do a little research.

After all, if he’s claiming to belong to the “Thundering Third”, why didn’t he lay claim to his exploits during the battle of Hue City. He could have even claimed he helped both his platoon commander and platoon sergeant earn a MoH during OPERATION HASTINGS (but turned down his own because he felt he didn’t deserve it). Then there was Phu Bai…

He didn’t want to go to Italy on an unaccompanied tour for the Army because he didn’t want to leave his wife, Morgan Fairchild, who he’s seen naked.

They don’t even fuggin’ try anymore.

GDContractor

Morgan Fairchild?
More likely it was Walter Brennan.

HMCS(FMF) ret.

USMCMSgt(Ret)

I was referencing John Lovitz’s SNL character Tommy Flanagan, the pathological liar.

Mick

Hondo: as per my post below, did you guys see that Sturdevant also has a black and white photo on line of himself dressed as a U.S. Army Drill Instructor and wearing a CIB and what appear to be Army Aircrew wings?

Please see details in my post below.

Sapper3307

Did he earn the Army’s prestigious fire guard ribbon?

Skippy

Just FYI. My screen name is to honor one of my uncles who served 28 years in the army as a 11c and a 19 D was a DI at Knox did three tours in S.E. Asia.. The last one was with some mountain folks in central Vietnam.. Why in the F??k would anyone brag about being a POW !!! Or maybe it’s old age and these crazy sob’s are losing it either way be proud of your service are stop being turds out there. My uncle gets on here every now and then and is stunned at the BS but has told me they where dealing with these ?? story’s from as he calls them SHIT-BALLS up until he retired in the 90s… To all the turds out here welcome to the internet I’ll do whatever I can to keep you famous

Skippy

I apologize about the spelling it’s a you know what typing on a phone chasing a three year old and a crazy ass blue heeler around the house at 9,000 feet ???

Ex-PH2

Which tribe of Montagnards was that, Skippy? The communist VC government tried to assimilate them all, but I don’t think it really worked.

Skippy

Don’t know.. He never talks a lot about what he did over there… I know that it was in the northern part of the country because he and my Dad would bump in to one another and another one of my uncles.. He did say they had one hell of a nose in the bush and that’s it.. My uncle Gary said that my uncle skips ass was saved one time but nobody talks about it… I have a ton of momentos that passed on to me when my grandma died from my uncles service over there and paper clipping about something that happened over there that names my uncle but he won’t talk about it

Perry Gaskill

FWIW, Ex, at DLI in ’69, one of the quirkier exercises were language recognition sessions in which the object was to listen to a recording and identify which language was being spoken. This was so you could tell the difference between, say, Cambodian and Mandarin Chinese without knowing the actual content of what was being said.

One of the more memorable ones was a Montagnard dialect called Rahde which sounded like Vietnamese spoken with an Italian accent. By way of cheap amusement, for awhile some of the ‘terps-in-training would sometimes put a Rahde spin on things which came out sounding like a cross between Uncle Ho and Guido the waiter.

Charlie don’t surf, and he don’t make pizza…

Hondo

And of course, this LSoS a-hole is also the judge advocate for his local VFW post (Post 2148) as well as the senior vice-commandant for his local Marine Corps League chapter. That info is near the end of the “part 2” of the article documenting his bogus claims “history”.

Grimmy

He joined up with 3/4 just after Operation Robin South (clearance ops around Khe Sanh) and was probably advance party for the battalion’s move to Okinawa, which occurred in Nov, 69.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Robin

I was confusilated by the Mike Co part. Never knew of a Mike Co in an infantry outfit. But, I did read on the 3/4 wiki page that Mike Co was a 4th inf reg augment for 3/4 upon need.

Hondo

Grimmy, help a non-USMC type out here. Doesn’t the entry on his 118 for arrival on OKI in Oct 1969 show he was hospitalized there for just over a month? Or am I reading that wrong?

Grimmy

Honestly, I have zero clue about record book translations. You’re probably right and correct in the sickbay thing.

streetsweeper

Going out on the limb…my oldest brother was 3/9/3 Mike CO, 1st PLT and made appearances at every venue they were dropped, shipped or marched into on two tours 1965 and 1967. Wounded in Sept 1967 (We have the photo of GEN. Westmoreland shaking his hand awarding him the Purple Heart) his part of the tour diverted to DaNang (field hospital), Clark AFB (short stop there) then stateside to Bremerton Naval Hospital for an extended tour of two years with frequent guest appearances in surgery and signing autographs for a handful of cute Navy nurses that simply adored him to no end.

Atkron

Yeah…because any self respecting squadron is going to just let some Grunt come in and fix a helo.

After all Helo’s are a cinch to work on.

USMCMSgt(Ret)

Yeah, he managed to be in the right place at the right time – skipped both “A” and “C” school for whatever 64XX MOS he claims, and received OJT because he was so smart… but was in the wrong place at the wrong time, got captured, stripped and put in a cage, but his “LRRP training” came in so handy he was able to get away (or maybe the purple jump-suit clad CoCkSlUrPeRCoMeTh41 helped him escape).

Ex-PH2

Well, they sure are a cinch to work on. Revell has several easy-to-use models in its aircraft line.

ex-OS2

James Walls aka “The Cocksucker”, UH-1 phony helicopter pilot, is an expert in building those.

A Proud Infidel®™

SOMEBODY PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong, but every story and account ‘ve heard and read was that the Punji Pits in Vietnam were lined with sharpened bamboo spikes that they shit on after placing them to cause infection in addition to the puncture wound. This is THE FIRST TIME I’ve ever heard someone say they merely broke a leg by stepping into one! To me that’s as believable as him saying that he broke his leg by stepping on a “Toe Popper” landmine.

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Turdevent meant to say that he broke his taint on a punji stick… and then the VC/NVA made him a pot of Cream of Sum Yung Guy soup to “suck out the poison”.

Ex-PH2

API, everything you need to know about booby traps in Vietnam is here.

https://cherrieswriter.wordpress.com/2013/03/10/booby-traps-in-the-vietnam-war/

I think Kipling used to call those holes dug and covered Malaysian mantraps, or something like that, but they were designed to kill the person that fell into them. It was also one way to trap elephants for food.

A Proud Infidel®™

The bigger ones were used for catching animals, but smaller ones were dug and lined with bamboo spikes to wound Personnel and there are many accounts of them defecating on them after placement to guarantee that the wound would get infected. The idea was the same as that behind “Toe Popper” landlmines which were meant to wound one Troop and requiring two others to assist him afterward this denying that unit or Patrol three Men.

GDContractor

If the injury was on the lower leg, above the knee, then you know it was LEGIT!

Silentium Est Aureum

Makes about as much sense as that fucktard Corpsman who claimed seven Purple Hearts and getting shot in the leg with a .50 cal.

Martinjmpr

That “story” reads like something out of the Duffel Blog with almost every Vietnam war cliche packed into it (I think we’re still missing the pregnant honey he left in Da Nang and the young boy he befriended who was later murdered by the VC.)

All it needs is a classic rock sound track and you’d have pretty much every VN war movie made from 1975 to 1990.

Green Thumb

I am surprised All-Points Logistics has not funded his book contract and subsequent tour.

And I can only see the False Commander “Phony” Phil Monkress (CEO of All-Points Logistics) plagiarizing, er…, I mean penning the foreword.

Martinjmpr

Oh and this guy was such a stud he was a drill sergeant at Fort Carson – a post which has, AFAIK, never been a basic training post (at least not since WWII and I’m not even sure about that.)

Poetrooper

I went through basic at Fort Carson with the 47th Inf Regt/9th Inf Div in June/July/August 1959. I believe they also conducted basic there during Vietnam.

Mick

Here’s some more B.S. about this assclown from an article linked to the one Jonn posted above: http://www.wacotrib.com/news/veterans_profiles/voices-of-valor-roger-sturdevant-part/article_146ca739-f01e-50b9-b443-9d83abf508a8.html Army brethren please note that he’s wearing a CIB and what may be Army Aircrew wings in the black and white photo of him in the article where he is supposedly an Army Drill Instructor. And if that wasn’t enough, here are some other accounts from the article of our hero’s feats of amazing derring-do that he supposedly performed while he was a Marine in Vietnam: ‘Within a few months, Bellmead’s Roger Sturdevant survived captivity, a booby trap injury and much more during his tour in Vietnam. Starting as a foot soldier with the 3rd Battalion 4th Marines, he moved to helicopters. He was a crew chief and hydraulics specialist on a medevac unit that carried everything from supplies to people. There were other adventures, such as when he fell out of a helicopter. Luckily, he was attached to a cable and was pulled back in. He ended up on a flight to Japan after a helicopter crash in a hot demilitarized zone left him with broken bones in both knees.’ Ahem. The Marines didn’t, and still don’t, have MEDEVAC units. And a Marine doesn’t go immediately from infantry grunt to “crew chief and hydraulics specialist” without considerable schooling and going through a flight training syllabus for the Type/Model/Series of helicopter to which assigned. And I have no idea what a “hot demilitarized zone” might be. (My guess is that he made up the stories about his supposed Vietnam helicopter exploits after he transitioned to those 4th Marine Aircraft Wing Reserve squadrons later in his career as noted in his service records. Those Reserve squadrons would have had quite a few pilots and aircrewmen in them at that time who had actually flown in combat in Vietnam, so he would have been exposed to their experiences/stories.) His records show a CAR that he probably legitimately earned while he was in Vietnam with M/3/4, but I don’t see anything that indicates that he ever did anything involving flying as a crew chief/aircrewman in… Read more »

Hondo

Can’t answer for the Air Crew wings, but unless the man has service as an infantryman in the US Army the CIB appears to be bogus. The US Army does not “convert” a CAR to the CIB for those with prior USMC infantry service. Rather, they remain authorized to wear the CAR on their ribbon rack. See FAQ 2 at

https://www.hrc.army.mil/TAGD/Combat%20Infantry%20Badge%20CIB

Caveat: that’s current policy. I think it was the same in the 1970s and 1980s (the other possible times this guy could have potentially served in the Army and legitimately worn the old OD fatigues as his uniform), but I can’t swear to that.

Looks like it’s follow-up FOIA time. The final rank for this tool is effed up. (SSgt/E-4? Really?) NPRC also conceivably could have failed to check for US Army service, and I’d like to rule that out.

Bobo

Correct on the CIB, Hondo. I had a BC who had done USMC Infantry time in Vietnam. He was always pissy about not being able to wear a CIB despite his being in an Infantry MOS and receiving a CAR.

Hondo

It’s the military, Bobo. The rules don’t have to make sense. You’ve been in long enough by now to know that fact. (smile)

20thEB67

Good call on the follow-up, Hondo. It will be interesting to see if TURDevant actually has Army service or not.

These fuckers piss me off so badly, that all I can think about calling them is cocksuckers. I then gather my thoughts and post a semi-intelligent comment later on.

Mick

Has anyone contacted VFW Post 2148 and/or the Marine Corps League about this guy yet?

Hondo

Not sure contacting Post 2148 will do much good – he’s reportedly the Judge Advocate for the post, which tells me he’s likely got the rest of the post leadership believing his BS. Contacting district or state VFW leadership might be required.

Same for the local MCL chapter – he’s apparently the senior deputy commandant there. Again, contacting state or national MCL might be required.

Poetrooper

Note the caption under the drill sergeant pic where it says he left MC active duty in 1972, spent 5 years in USMC Reserves before enlisting in the Army with his military service finally ending in 1978.

The guy got a one year enlistment in the Army?

Also, that Army pic looks old meaning this guy has been pulling this crap for a looooong time.

Hondo

The picture would have to be old, Poetrooper. If I recall correctly, the OD-green “pickle suit” was phased out as an authorized Army uniform in either 1986 or 1987.

Bobo

Which begs the question, in what conflict between 1978 and 1987 would he have served in order to be awarded a CIB?

Hondo

Only know of one possibility, Bobo: Grenada.

Bobo

Since he isn’t sporting jump wings on the uniform with the CIB,I don’t think so.

Hondo

I don’t either, Bobo – I think the CIB he’s sporting is 100% bogus. But it’s one of at most two possibilities I can think of for a legit CIB during that time frame.

I guess there is also a second theoretical possibility: operations with the Contras in Central America. But I’m not positive about CIB award authority for the latter, or if any were retroactively awarded for operations there. In any case, that would be so rare that IMO the chances of that claim being true would be effectively nada even if he had Army service in the 1980s. And if it were true, he almost certainly would have been retroactively awarded it well after the “pickle suit” was out of the inventory. I don’t believe combat decorations were retroactively authorized for Central America until sometime in the 1990s.

ex-OS2

I particularly like the Napoleon pose with his hand inside his shirt in the drill sergeant pic. This guy is a fucking cocksucker.

Hondo

FOIA prepared and ready to mail. We’ll see if the tool had any Army service.

FWIW: assuming he in fact joined the USMC at age 19, there are two possible “windows” during which he theoretically could have served in the Army and legitimately worn the OD-green “pickle suit” as his duty uniform. The first “window” is between the end of his USMC active duty in Feb 1975 and his return to the USMC in Jan 1980. The second “window” is betwen the end of his second USMC active duty in Jan 1982 and around 1986 or 1987. The latter is my recollection regarding when the OD-green fatigues were made a “no go” as an authorized Army uniform.

We’ll see if the tool actually served in the Army. My money’s on the photo of him in Army fatigues with the Drill Sergeant hat is simply him “playing dress up” and living out some kind of military-themed Walter Mitty fantasy.

Mick

Hey, I think that I might see something in that Drill Sergeant photo that could be interesting.

Upon closer examination of that black and white photo, it looks like his left breast pocket may be altered/obscured, as if to hide something. And that something could be the black Eagle, Globe, and Anchor and USMC iron-on insignia that was worn on the left breast pocket of the old USMC green sateen utility uniform. He would have worn the green sateen utilities in the ’60s-’70s.

Could he have been playing Army Drill Sergeant “dress up” in an altered USMC utility uniform, or maybe altered the photo after it was taken?

What do you guys think?

Hondo

That would not surprise me one whit, Mick.

And that uniform appears to be in need of ironing, too – check the pocket flaps sticking up, especially the left one. You’d see that on a set of starched cotton fatigues that have been worn for a while, or stored badly folded and not been touched-up prior to wearing.

Scotty

Roger Sturdevant Sr. ; I went in the Army in 1975 and went to Fort Carson Colorado there I was a Drill Sgt. For a Army Reserve unit. Then I got Orders for Drill Sgt at Fort Benning Georgia. After that I was a assigned to a Ranger Co. At Fort Benning

I blew the photo up on my puter….definitely an EGA…good catch

Mick

Shack!!!

I thought that it didn’t look right in the photo. Thanks for taking a look and confirming the EGA.

So it looks like he’s also probably fibbing about being in the Army.

Standing by now for the results of Hondo’s follow-up FOIA.

Atkron

I agree it looks like the EGA is being blacked-out.

“Orders came in to report to Fort Benning, Georgia, and while there, he signed up for jump school and then Airborne Ranger training.”

If I’m ever around Fort Benning….where do I swing by and, “sign up”,for Airborne and Ranger School?

When I was at the 789th at Benning we all just went over to RTB and said hey dudes we’re gonna do some of this Rangering stuff with yall. Ok Smaj? He was all, hell yes! And, because our sunglasses were so cool he told us we could keep our hands in our pockets and do the condensed version which was mostly online and at Four Winds. We observed an Airborne student hit pretty hard coming off the towers so we were immediately authorized combat jump wings.

Hahahaha this fucker. I’m not even mad I’m actually impressed he’d lie about infantry to then lie about infantry fixing helicopters before going on a nature walk in nam by himself while a broke dick. No doubt he’ll be using the excuse, they issued me a rifle thus I was a usmc rifleman delusion.
