Monday morning feel good stories

| May 2, 2016

At a Metro PCS store in Dallas, Texas, an armed thief ordered everyone on the floor. An employee in the back of the store heard the commotion, grabbed his firearm and confronted the crook. He fired at the thief who was DOT (dead over there) at the hospital on the following day.

In Liberty Township, Ohio, a man intervened when his grandfather began to assault his grandmother. Gramps was DRT (dead right there) when the police arrived on the scene.

It’s lean day for stories, apparently, so here are a couple of repeats that people must have missed because they keep emailing them to me.

The first is from Friday morning;

According to Talladega, Alabama police, a burglar was shot by a minor child – there are no details on the condition of the burglar or the child. Another article names the child as 11-year-old Chris Gaither and it took him 12 rounds to finally hit the burglar in the leg.

The next is from Saturday morning;

Cactivet and Top Kone send us our first story this morning from Sultan, Washington an 80-year-old woman found an intruder standing over her injured 75-year-old husband with a knife. The 80-year-old retreated to her bedroom closet and dug out her handgun, returned to her injured husband and ventilated the 25-year-old intruder. He was DRT (dead right there) when the police arrived. Her husband was taken to the hospital where he was in serious but stable condition.

GOD BLESS SEAL TEAM 6
To celebrate “Osama Double Tap Day”, yesterday, I added some extra range work to my daily shooting, today. I did a parking lot scenario, shooting around, over and through my truck. Using two handguns and my short barreled shotgun at 25 yards, and then using my .22 Henry from 75 yards, I was pleased with my accuracy. Daily shooting, on my home range, may well be a good investment one day.

Perhaps the dirth of stories means that criminals are gradually becoming aware that being a criminal is not such a good idea?

There’s plenty of stuff about people being assaulted and robbed on Chicago public transportation now, but nobody is actually being caught or shot by annoyed citizens.

B Woodman

Naaahh. Criminals? Learn to NOT rob people? You’re funny. Who writes your material?
Actually, I wish that were the case. but I’m not laying odds on it.
What I WILL lay odds on, are that we will get a dearth of “Feel Good” stories sometime during the rest of the week.

Three for four, That’s a good thing too !!!

“He started crying like a little baby.”
11 year-old home defender Chris Gaither

The full quote is:

“I shot through the hamper he was carrying,” Chris said. “It was a full metal jacket bullet. It went straight through the back of his leg. He started crying like a little baby.”

My son and his buddies used to really be into those interactive video games, computer versions, xbox and the sort. The stuff was loaded with shoot’em ups and shoot-outs. I laughed at some of those scenes where somebody is riding a horse, driving a car or even a motorcycle, and shooting at the same time. (kind’a like watching Bernasty ride a bicycle in flip flops and jungle shorts)

So one afternoon I told the boys to come out to the side lot and see how they could do with a 9mm and a bunch of beer cans refilled with water.

They found out that there’s more to it than it looks like in the movies but they each managed, eventually, to start popping them off with a little more precision.

Ammunition was cheap in those days; I’d get it delivered by the case, via UPS, from Cheap’n’Dirt. If I wasn’t home when the delivery came, the UPS guy just left it on the porch.

As to the “yoof” in the story making fun of a wounded criminal? That may not have been the best idea as I am not real convinced that he has seen the last of the bad guy. On the uptick, he’ll probably be a better shot if the bad guy shows up, again!

Eden

Apparently this isn’t the first time this particular bad guy has robbed that home. Maybe he’ll think twice next time.

Tallywhagger

Maybe he’ll get shot twice, too. A warning shot to the heart and another to the forehead to make him shut up! Seems a bit harsh for crimes against property but what can be done? You can’t fix stupid. Just look at Bernasty. But you can keep what’s yours and defend against stupid.
