Shane G. Sperow update

| April 25, 2016

Shane-Sperow

Last week, we talked about Shane Sperow who told the judge that he was a Marine Corps hero of the war against terror in order to get his sentence reduced for a fraud case in which he was guilty. The judge fell for it, but the prosecutor had his doubts about it. The Reading, Pennsylvania Eagle followed up on the story;

The St. Lawrence man claimed he served more than a dozen deployments as a Marine sniper, earned two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star and risked his life to save four others in Iraq.

And as is usually the case when veterans tell their war stories, most people believed him.

After all, who would make up such things?

But Sperow’s downfall came when his fictional tales of bravery reached detectives with the Berks County district attorney’s office, who are among the few who could gain access to military records that would expose him.

The detectives were curious because Sperow got his sentence significantly reduced from what the prosecutor had asked for, so they contacted the Marine Corps which could find no service for the crook. We’ve seen less diligent prosecutor offices, for example Charles Chavous told lies and presented the court with a forged DD214 (discharge certificate) about his service in Vietnam to score a sentence of five years probation for his part in a murder. Sperow did the same thing;

According to court documents, Sperow gave his attorney a detailed listing of his deployments, providing dates, locations and even special schools he attended in his phony 14-year career.

He also provided a letter from friends who spoke of his service and a resume that contained his years spent with the Marines.

When authorities searched Sperow’s home, they found several uniforms and a fake honorable discharge certificate.

I guess we’d never expect a criminal to have friends who would lie for him.

Here at TAH, we’ve had employers contact us to check on prospective employees for them when they get documentation that doesn’t sound right – but usually those employers are veterans, too. Thomas Michael Good, also from Pennsylvania, was one of those. The process takes a long time, usually more time than the employer wants to invest. Most employers want to hire veterans, but these phonies make it difficult for them to do the right thing that they want to do.

Like the Eagle says, the phonies put more time and effort into their lies than they put into being good citizens.

I commend the prosecutors for their diligence in the Sperow case, it’s not often we see that kind of commitment. Sperow is going to pay a price for his lies though;

Sperow was charged last Monday with writing a false statement and forging or altering documents for the phony information he provided to his lawyer, John Elder, to present in court.

A man found guilty on fraud charges, committing more fraud to get his sentence reduced… Who would have thunk that. Obviously not the Judge.

NR Pax

It’s kind of a shame that employers cannot verify veteran status as fast as they can a lack of criminal record.

Green Thumb

“I guess we’d never expect a criminal to have friends who would lie for him.”

Yep.

All-Points Logistics.

AskaMarine

Still can’t believe the Government still awards contracts to APL and that dirtbag.

Just as I still can’t believe Killer Killam still has a job counseling veterans.

Our tax dollars going to frauds.

Claw

“Never doubt the Killer’s or All-Points Logistics dedication to Shitbaggery.”

IS THAT CLEAR?

Smile/Snicker

Animal

Bwahahaha. Good one. Sorry AskaMarine, but that was funny.

AskaMarine

Kudos to Animal, Claw and Green Thumb!?????

And for Monkress, Killam and Gainey:??

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Karma does what she does Mr. Sperow.

I guess you can reap the whirlwind now…

Ex-PH2

Justice may be slow, but she is not blind to the Truth.

Poetrooper

Ex, I can’t wait to hear you say that when Hillary gets a pass.

Heh…

Bobo

Thanks for the synopsis of the article since it’s behind subscription site.

Hopefully he’s see the same judge who he lied to. I’m sure that the judge will be more than happy to make sure he gets the time that he deserves.

Combat Historian

Sperow: “But but but…my records were sealed because I was assigned to SOCOM/UNCLE/SHADO/Justice League etc. etc. etc. …”

Ineligible to serve

Then the judge will just ask Sperow to have Tony Stark come in and vouch for him. No problem, right Sperow?

You left out CHAOS (Get Smart).

A Proud Infidel®™

Now now BW, remember CONTROL protocol and OPSEC!!

Hack Stone

I believe that it was KAOS.

Hack Stone

Per IMDB: CONTROL and KAOS were supposed to be acronyms, but Mel Brooks and Buck Henry never came up with anything for them to stand for.

SFC D

They missed it by *that* much

Carlton G Long

I thought you meant Chaos (“cankles”) of getbig fame.

Oh, brother…

Dave Hardin

OK, I have to say it or I might take it out on my new puppy at the next victims of service circle jerk.

WTF is a judge using a veterans service in the past to reduce his sentence for?

I served my country so any crime I am guilty of carries a smaller punishment?

Ya well, phuk that. When they are veterans it should be more harsh, we should be held to a higher standard not a lower one.

I am working on all the special feelings I am supposed to have. I think maybe they have been going down the shitter every morning all these years.

Your service does not entitle you to special treatment when you break the law, suck it up; neither does mine.

How about they stop using a persons service to this country as an excuse to lessen their sentence. That would fix this problem permanently…fake veteran or not.

MrBill

If it’s true, it’s legitimate sentencing evidence.

If I’m sentencing a criminal, if I see he’s done a lot of good things in his life prior to getting in trouble, I might go easier on him than if he’s been a shitbag all his life, and this crime is just the latest in a long history of shitbaggery. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Silentium Est Aureum

Because nobody has ever generated a fake letter from an officer, war buddy, etc., telling the world what a stand up guy he is, right Bernath?

ex-OS2

Cocksucker. Go fuck yourself Shane Sperow.

A Proud Infidel®™

Hmmm, let’s hope his shenanigans get him some more time in Bubba & Thor’s cell block harem!!

ex-OS2

You can bank on him spending a lot of quality time in the ghetto penthouse!

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Shane is going to love the “all he will eat” cockmeat and tubesteak buffet at the local poundhimintheass prison… provided by the catering services of Thor, Bubba, Julio and Mr. “Tiny”.

Sucks to be you, Shane Sperow…

Silentium Est Aureum

Here’s hoping his “serving line” looks like the sick call line after a three week liberty run between Pattaya and Subic.

OWB

While I do understand that at sentencing one’s reputation in the community, and other subjective criteria, can be used to mitigate a decision on the sentence, it is terribly ironic that unproven yet easily confirmed information IS so often used. In courts of law. By judges. Gee, your honor – how come you take his word about his alleged military service when you saw by the evidence that he lied about every other thing presented in your courtroom?

Don’t make no sense.
