The Temple of Valadier welcomes visitors to a cave in the Frasassi Gorge in Italy’s Marches region. The eponymous structure, designed by Italian architect Giuseppe Valadier in the early 1800s, was to be used as a retreat for Christians seeking forgiveness, earning it the nickname “refuge for sinners.”
Here’s your weekend open thread.

First.

Claw

Whoo-Hoo !! I’m back in the saddle again.

Skippy

Damn you Claw
?
Congrats again

AskaMarine

Congtats, Claw.

Now if we can only get that other “First” and his sidekick, Killer.

😉

Claw

Yes, the daily check of all the pertinent websites to those two reveal no changes at all today.

So it’s sit back and listen to another week (the 14th?) of the Cricket Serenade.

AskaMarine

How ironic is that right now on SPIKE TV “Jail” is an episode featuring the best from Tarrant County, Texas.

Looked for Killer on the show to see if he was providing counseling to those jailbirds, but he was nowhere to be found…just as he and PV9 Gainey continue to do on TAH.

Skippy

Third I missed it again damn

Skippy

2/17 Air Cav

They’re off! It’s Skippy first out of the gate, looking for that WOT. But there’s no WOT. He’s all alone and feeling confident as he glances over his shoulder, thinking it’s a cake walk. But still there’s no WOT! Claw saunters out of the gate and begins his trot to the machine. He is confident but not cocky. He’s been there before. He signs on at a quickening pace as Skippy begins to tire from his all-out sprint. Meanwhile, unknown to either hoss, Jonn glances at his watch and announces to no one in particular, “It’s go time.” Claw is on. The WOT is posted. It’s Claw by a country mile!

Claw

Yep, it’s the old de ja vu Tortoise and Hare routine all over again.

That damn Wascally Wabbit.

Skippy

I feel like I’m at a horse race Lol….

Aren’t you Second, Skippy, instead of Third?

Skippy

Second to comment third to post not Bad !!!!!!!!

Hondo

This just in: per the State Bar of California, Daniel A. Bernath is still “Not Eligible to Practice Law”!

Hondo

Yep. And just in case anyone wants to read the whole CA State Bar Court decision for themselves:

Been out fer awhile now, the ruling is circling already in several law reviews and many law blogs.

It is rumored, a new course is under development and will be mandatory for all new law students in the US:

I’m still waiting for someone to get and post the transcript or recording from the State Bar. I’m curious about what kind of monkey-feces-throwing Crash-and-Bernath threw in the court, but I’m more interested in hearing the judge pronounce the verdict.

Remember floppy disks? I once–innocently–referred to my floppy dick when talking with an attractive female. She laughed heartily, with one look at my red face signaling that my mistake was indeed unintentional.

Hondo

Should have regaled the lady with tales of your huge hard disk instead. (smile)

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Don’t tell them you have a floppy drive… you won’t get lucky passing that info off on any women.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

We had a TRS-80. 12 – 14 floppy discs. Circa late 70’s.

Ex-PH2

I still have floppies. I hired a microbe to read the binary codes and translate them to English. It sure was taking its sweet time, but microbes can only work so fast, right? So I bought a floppy reader and fired the microbe.

Will it be available as a selection from from the Columbia House Record And Tape Club?

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Maybe at the concession stand located near the exit of the world-wide HQ of TAH?

Jonn, I’ll transcribe it, but I’m afraid I’ll die laughing myself silly, but, I have two kids that could take over, but, if they die for the same reason, my Papozz would be a ORPHAN, in Juvenile Justice System for BOING Bernath?

Flagwaver

Any chance of your posting it for our listening pleasure?

Hondo

What I’m waiting for is the SC CA Supreme Court to issue an order of disbarment. That typically seems to take between 3 and 6 months after the Bar Court’s decision.

Just An Old Dog

You mean Ca Supreme Court? Or has Birdbath started in South Carolina as well?

Hondo

Yep – brain cramp on my part. It’s fixed above now. Thanks for “backstopping” me.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

You are waiting?

Ha!

Hondo

MCPO, there’s an old saying: “The job isn’t completed until the paper work is done.”

When the CA Supreme Court issues the dismarment order, the paperwork will be done.

Ah knot axactly,

According to klasserfried sources, he is grounded by the FAA due to mishap in Tallerhassee and perhaps failed to show for a mandatory appearance.

Years ago, a Baltimore Sun columnist, one Michael Olesker, was accused of plagiarism. He denied it but the proof was there in black and white. He was given the option of quitting or being canned. He resigned. So much for insisting he did not intentionally steal another’s work. Anyway, my point is that Oleasker got another job–teaching journalism! I always wondered how he dealt with the issue of plagiarism in that class. Sucks for a writer to be recalled as a plagiarist. A disbarred attorney can’t even work at in law firms at all in some states, even as a delivery boy. Other states allow the disbarred atty to work as a paralegal but it’s tough for the attys who hire him. They have to go through hoops in many states, tell their clients that a disbarred atty is there, make quarterly filings detailing duties performed and so forth. In short, in most states no one will hire a disbarred atty to do anything. It’s their ass if the bad egg does some legal work that could be construed as atty work product. So, there’s that.

Cheese Eater Mcblobfish

Let me introduce you to the new associates in “Chevalier and Associates”.

Daniel Bernath: fuels, Blogger.

Frank Visconi: records, administration.

Dallas Wittgenfeld: operations.

Psul, of the Ballsacks: public affairs.

Joseph Stetson: security.

It’s great having associates again, it has been lonely since Linda Kay and the others overthrew me and formed their own organization.

So Daniel Bernath was in Virginia this week? Does he plan on sticking around. One of his buddies in Bethesda sure could use Bernath’s legal expertise, as to (see what I just did there?) his court apoearance Monday in Montgomery County. It seems that the Vice President of company that sells software to the government stiffed a business out $8000 and change.

A Proud Infidel®™

But WHAT IF he utilizes his M17 haploid thingamajig that he bragged about? I STILL DON’T see any Aston Martin sports car coming up in my driveway. Oh well, time to feed and walk my Doberman.

35th this week and shooting up the charts!!!

It’s Friday, so it’s time for my weekly shout out to Dickless Danni-boi Bernastypants and his buttbuddy, CoCkSlUuUuRrRrP41 (aka QuEeFeRs).

Another loss in the courts for you, huh Danni-boi? Your legal prowess is just so awesome that you should be wiping your butt with that law school diploma you have hanging on your wall! You’re still Hamilton Burger’s BYTCH! It’s just a matter of time before you’ll be getting a certified letter from the CA state bar putting the final nail in your legal career. I’m guessing that there is a perp walk in your future too, Danni-boi!

As for CoCkSlUuUuRrRrP41, be sure to give Danni-boi the real deal low down on how to handle himself inside the local poundhimintheass jail… with your extensive experience with law enforcement and the legal system, Danni-boi is going to need some pointers on how to be besties with Thor, Bubba, Julio and Mr. “Tiny” when he gets those shiny bracelets to wear.

The Dutch Rudder Gang version of “Get Hard”?

I think that “Let’s Go To Prison” was the better of the two films. We can always ask Psaul which is more accurate of prison life. He knows what it is like; he did his nickel.

Just An Old Dog

As soon as Bernath got his ass handed to him and slapped with a 2 year restraining order he went over and filed another lawsuit against he Shipleys for Copywrite infringement.

Daniel A. Bernath the Fred Phelps clone NEVER HAS and never will get it. IMHO he’ll always be known as Frankie very correctly said it, A MEGA-CLASS PATHETIC LOSER.

Where’s your backup for that?

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Vexatious litigant… someone in a FL courtroom needs to bring that to a judge’s attention to rein him in.

A Proud Infidel®™

Yes indeed. I wonder how soon after that that Daniel A. Bernath the Fred Phelps clone would simply implode?

Tax Day is when? Right, but we who always owe have until Monday to file–in my case, for an extension. I want tax day to be immediately before elections. It isn’t, for the very reason I want it to be, say, Nov 1st: many of us would take it out on incumbents and troda bums out.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

I could get behind that statement, Nov 1st as tax day would scare the shit out of politicians because everybody would be pissed off just before the holidays…

I’ve managed to increase my my deductible items enough to keep my payments to Mass and the Feds under $500 this year which makes me very, very happy….

Yes, it’s just a matter of time, here are a couple of my favorite excerpts:

RECOMMENDATION
Disbarment
The court recommends that respondent Daniel Alan Bernath be disbarred from the
practice of law in the State of California and that his name be stricken from the roll of attorneys.

Costs
The court further recommends that costs be awarded to the State Bar in accordance with
Business and Professions Code section 6086.10, such costs being enforceable both as provided in
Business and Professions Code section 6140.7 and as a money judgment.

I think Mrs. Shipley said it best (paraphrasing)…even assholes have their good qualities. Bernath has none.

You should have considered that, Ann Kotchman. And I’m guessing if she’s still around, she probably tell you to quit stalking her, too.

Frankie Cee "In the clear"

I have been pondering, ( I ponder a lot in my spare time, lately.), if a person often mentions something like “Self Murder”, is there a possibility that he is building himself up to “Take one for the Team”, and would do something drastic.

Hack Stone

I heard that Daniel Brernath is demanding that sportscasters on ESPN refrain from using the term “suicide squeeze” and instead use the politically correct expression “self-murder squeeze”. It’s on the Internet (now), so it must be true.

A series of strong and very damaging earthquakes has hit Japan’s southernmost island. Lots of damage. 9 people dead so far, quite a few badly injured, many buildings collapsed. Strongest quake in the series of quakes is 7.0M.

http://earthquake-report.com/2016/04/14/very-strong-earthquake-kyushu-japan-on-april-14-2016/

OAE CPO USN Ret

To add insult to injury, Mt Aso, a volcano in the general vicinity of the earthquake epicenter, has decided to get in on the act.

Ex-PH2

I wondered if that was going to happen. It looks like a small venting now, and it’s being monitored, but was the eruption caused by the quakes, or were the quakes foreshocks to the eruption?

https://www.rt.com/news/339788-japan-volcano-eruption-quakes/

Ex-PH2

Note: the biggest quake in this series was 7.3M. Did a lot of damage on Kyushu Island. So far, 15 people are dead, the damage is severe, and the aftershocks continue.

Because quakes are increasing in frequency along the Himalaya ridge, as well as offshore in Indonesia and up in Central Asia, there is some concern that the rumbling precedes another quake like the 2015 Nepal quake, which killed 8,000+ people. The stresses on plate lines are building.

Buckle your seatbelts. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

Ex-PH2

And this just in: a 7.4 quake near the coast of Ecuador

NWS PACIFIC TSUNAMI WARNING CENTER
205 PM HST SAT APR 16 2016

AN EARTHQUAKE HAS OCCURRED WITH THESE PRELIMINARY PARAMETERS

ORIGIN TIME – 0159 PM HST 16 APR 2016
COORDINATES – 0.2 NORTH 80.1 WEST
LOCATION – NEAR COAST OF ECUADOR
MAGNITUDE – 7.4 MOMENT

It seems that something is moving far below the ocean surface. There is concern that a ‘big’ quake in Asia is going to occur before long.4

clamsgotlegs

It never fails, if there is a big quake somewhere, there is always another big quake on the opposite side of the earth.

I’ve been watching this happen for 30 years now. Plate tectonics freak me out.

Ex-PH2

There’s going to be more of it.

Update on Ecuador:
7.8 quake last night (4/16/2016)

77 people confirmed dead so far
(I didn’t get a report on the injury count)
A lot of damage to structures, and many towns are without power.

I think we’re going to see a lot more of this kind of thing. The land is shifting more noticeably, and has been doing so for a while now.

Ex-PH2

This links to a page with several videos showing quake damage in Japan, including a bridge that was literally wiped out in a heartbeat.

http://www.bbc.com/news/video_and_audio/headlines/36066779

The death toll from the Ecuador quakes is now 246. Lots of people are still trapped.

Yep, a great article about a very humble man.

Got down to the bottom of the article and saw an additional story with the title:

“Berkeley Student Kicked Off Flight After he’s Heard Speaking Arabic.”

Hoped the story may have been about Lars, but no dice. Just some dude who had been granted asylum calling his uncle in Baghdad to talk about the weather in So Cal.

He’s now on the Southwest Airlines No Fly List.

Beautiful weekend at Casa de SEA. Time to look at upgrading the RV.

Ole SJ is in his RV deep in Mexico having a great time.

Anyone seen Lars around? It’s been 3 weeks now and he still won’t answer the question. You’re fixing to get added to the Gainey list Lars.

Hondo

Taylor still pops in every once and a while. However, ever since someone accused him of intentionally provoking other commenters while doing some sort of illegitimate (and IMO likely biased-by-design) “research” here he has been much quieter than usual.

Animal

I was that someone. He mentioned in a post last fall that he was working on some type of project involving human behavior in controlled group settings. He was really getting under my skin on one topic and it hit me how widely he was ranging between provoking and seemingly being part of the group so I asked. He has thus far failed to answer.

Hondo

Did some more thinking about the matter after posting the above comment, and afterwards I thought it might have been you who called him out on that. Glad to see the memory works, albeit a bit slowly sometimes.

As I recall, he popped in maybe 3 days ago and made a relatively innocuous comment on one article. Haven’t seen hims since.

Wow. RIP soldier.

Hack Stone

I was over on IMDB, and looking at the open message boards, and saw this question:

“I saw a movie, many decades ago, which had a scene I still recall to this day, but I can’t remember the title of the movie. I think (though I may be wrong) it was a black and white movie and I think the scene was set in the jungles of Malaysia, at the time of WWII.

At a military camp, a soldier was being court martialled because, the night before, while on duty as a sentinel he had shot at a priest, who went to visit the camp, thinking he was shooting at an enemy trying to infiltrate the camp.

The sentence went something like this. One week in prison, 2 days for having mistakenly shot at the priest, plus 5 days for having missed the shot.

The rationale being that, after deciding the priest was an enemy soldier, the soldier shouldn’t have missed the shot.

Does anyone know the name of the movie?”

I figure someone here will know the answer.

Claw

It could be “The Camp on Blood Island.”

Hack Stone

I’ll ask the person that ousted the question, but based on the question he asked and the film description on IMDB, I would think that this isn’t the movie he is looking for.
