Another Marine assaulted on streets of nation’s capital

| February 25, 2016

The Washington Times reports that the night Christoper Marquez was assaulted outside a Northwest DC MacDonald’s another Marine and Iraq War veteran was assaulted and left for dead on the streets of DC.

Cpl. Michael Schroeder, 35, was walking home after having drinks with some friends that Friday night when he was struck from behind. His body was dragged between two cars where he was left face-down, head bashed-in and missing cash as temperatures dipped into the teens.

[…]

Cpl. Schroeder says he does not remember the attack, but his family told reporters he suffered a fractured skull and a severe concussion; there were head staples, convulsions, fevers; and he could hardly speak after the attack.

Nearby security camera footage shows Cpl. Schroeder walking near Wisconsin Avenue NW before 2 a.m. He is then seen cutting through a parking lot to 37th Street NW, but after he turns the next thing he remembers is ambulance lights.

Luckily, a father and son saw his motionless body and called police for assistance.

Way to go D.C.!! Now we know who you really are. . . even more so.

Glover Park area.
DC.
Thugalicious. Even though it’s by the V.P. house area, it’s also about 1/2 a mile from where the Savopoulos murders were committed.
No place is safe any more.

Wow! I never thought of that part of DC as dangerous street crime wise.

Jarhead

At this point in life, I really don’t know which is the most dangerous and harmful to the average person: street thugs or politicians. My leaning would be more toward the latter, as they are unquestionably the most deranged of all D. C. inhabitants…even if only for work.

QM1

Believe it or not, street thugs and politicians can sometimes be referenced to the same people in some of today’s leadership.

Semper Idem

That’s an easy one. The politicians have the immunity of the State – that’s basically America’s version of ‘the King can do no wrong’. The thugs don’t. Beeeeeg difference there.

Soon we’ll be hearing snot-nosed SJW’s sniveling and screeching that we’re “racists” because of our assumptions about the perps’ ethnicity and because we don’t subscribe to the left’s white guilt propaganda.

Semper Idem

I’d agree that assumptions about ethnicity are indeed racially prejudiced and should never be tolerated. That said, racism is belief in racial supremacy – basically, if you don’t believe your race makes you superior to other races, you are not a racist. So, it is possible to be racially prejudiced without being racist.

Airdale (AW) USN

So why bring up race when it wasn’t even in the subject? I hope the Marine is ok, but we don’t know who did it.

David

true… but would you like to make a small wager as to the ethnicity of the perps? I didn’t think so.

MustangCryppie

I work in DC and I stay the hell off the streets and the Metro.

Get well soon, Marine!

But there are no guns in DC. Therefore there should be no violence, right?

OWB

You guys are missing the point. How DARE these Marines act as though they have a right to be in a convenience store, stop for a burger, or just walk home without being accosted. They should know better than pretend they are citizens, after all.

Think that’s ridiculous? Of course it is, but it is the attitude of the left in general, and certainly is that of the non-producers from the gubmint sponsored breeding program of the past few decades. No, that’s not racist – the lefties made sure that plenty of folks from all ethnicities are non-producers. It’s no surprise that many of those non-producers (from all races) are thugs who assume that they are entitled to whatever they want, right now.

If you don’t believe me, try asking some of them some time. Several of us here who have met these useful idiots on the street have shattered their worlds when we inform them that we have as much right to express our opinions as do they. Will admit that I was rather shocked the first time one of them responded with, “No you don’t!” Finally the cops had to explain to them that I was correct. Discovered that this was not an isolated thing – tested the theory multiple times in multiples locations.

All just to say, it’s a continuum – they are both thuggish behaviors. Not all become criminals engaging in assault and robbery, but almost all high level thugs began as low level thugs. Bad behavior should be stopped before it becomes this big and bad a problem.

H’rm; all these attacks on US Military personnel. I’m no tinfoil-hatter, but am I the only one who thinks there’s some sort of conspiracy here? Kill off our troops one by one, then make it look like random street attacks? Maybe – just MAYBE – ISIS / ISIL / ISIwhatever is recruiting street thugs to attack uniformed troops?

Just a thought on this lazy Thursday afternoon. I hope I’m wrong…but what if I’m right?

Ex-PH2

I’m no tinfoil hatter. I’d guess that these two people are just two of many who have been assaulted and robbed by thugs in WDC over the past several years. They get more attention from various media resources because they happen to be military, active or otherwise.

I doubt that these thugs who attacked them knew who or what they were attacking, nor did they care. All they cared about was what they could ‘harvest’ from the attack. This is two people out of how many in WDC?

No, there is no pattern here, only a bunch of thugs choosing their victims. Nothing new in that.

The fact is that the thugs who do this stuff do not see a Veteran or AD service member. They see only prey. The thugs have a street knack for self preservation so striking someone who might be able to defend himself is just not done. A frontal approach might prompt the victim to defend himself successfully or, if not, at least cause the thugs some injury. If any of us were thugs, we would do the same thing. Inebriates make great targets, as do solo pedestrians, sober or not. Oldsters make great targets, too. Such is the mind of the thug predator.

Skippy

I’d love to speak my mind on this…
but this really bad dream is
Almost over what else can this moron do ????

Veritas Omnia Vincit

I suspect most of us understand the obvious, but when you’re out on the streets at 2am what good has ever come of that?

I’m not saying he doesn’t have the right to do whatever he wants whenever he wants…we all do, the reality of these United States however is that nothing good happens on the streets of any large metro area after midnight.

Take a fucking cab after midnight, spend 20 or 50 bucks to get where you want to go relatively safely…I’m not worried about defending myself under most conditions, but I moved out of Springfield MA when the dead bodies started appearing a few blocks from my home. I moved to a nice quiet small town where the only things happening after 2am are miles and miles away…

Barring that, go out in groups and stay in those groups. Just like the zombie apocalypse, you don’t go it alone because it’s not prudent.

Again I’m not blaming the victim, I know it might sound like that, but situational awareness in a nation that murders 14,000 people a year and commits a violent robbery over 300,000 times a year is probably a wise idea.

Nicki

Were these the same set of savages?

Seriously, I have a lot of presence in both those places, and they’re both generally considered very safe!

I can’t carry in the city, but I’m damn well much more observant walking to and from work every day! And if I get the chance, I’m going to make myself a thug soup on the pavement.

David

The true key – situational awareness. Be aware of what is around you, don’t walk by blind spots, and non-verbally communicate that you ARE aware (and are not prey). No need to challenge anyone – but notice in both cases the Marines were sucker-punched. Don’t give anyone the opportunity.
