Izaha Akins phony Senator

| February 22, 2016

Akins

TSO and Bobo send us links to the story of 18-year-old Izaha Akins who fooled a school into thinking that he was a newly-selected State Senator and arranged for him to talk to students about being active in politics and political processes. The real senator, David Burke, was scheduled to speak in January, but Izaha Akins called the school and told them that Burke was ill and was planning to resign and Akins would be replacing him as senator. The school also resceduled the talk with students for a month earlier, in December. Of course, when Burke showed up in January, for the scheduled appearance, the school realized it’s mistake.

The Toledo Blade provides Akins’ explanation for the ruse;

Mr. Akins told The Blade concerns about school security tend to focus on “urban schools,” and that he was concerned about “the small community effect — they think that this can never happen to us.”

“I was duping to prove a point, that these kinds of things can happen. They could easily have Googled me and they didn’t,” Mr. Akins said.

The school has involved law enforcement and Akins is now answering charges of impersonating a peace officer and telecommunications fraud, both felonies.

How many times have we seen schools allow phony veterans get into the schools and talk about their wartime and military service to impressionable students when that wartime or military service never happened. recently we discussed Steve Valcke who talked to students about his time a POW you know, even though his service had only lasted four weeks at Lackland Air Force Base and he hadn’t completed Basic training. I wonder if that school in Georgia is seeking charges against Valcke.

But, I guess, Atkin’s escapade was more embarrassing to the government teacher who couldn’t verify whether a local government representative was ill and resigning his position. Google can be your friend.

A phony State Senator? What’s next, maybe a fake Mayor or Dog Catcher? I for the life of me still wonder WHY the stinking fudpuck they don’t charge Military Phonies with fraud like they did this taint-lusting fartsniffing booger-eater!

2/17 Air Cav

Politicians are phony, by nature. Most are scoundrels, liars, manipulators, two-faced, and dishonest. This is just a case of a phony phony, as I see it. In fact, he would garner some number of votes if he registered and ran. Me, I have no problem with this guy. As another said below, he fits right in.

A Proud Infidel®™

“Veteran” is a title that is honestly earned, not given. We Vets that legitimately hold that title are ones who were checked and vetted before we went through a lot of blood, sweat and tears to even be admitted to the Fraternity and had to keep ourselves up to par to be able to stay there. The vast majority of politicians are self-centered empty suits that would pawn their Grandmothers’ false teeth for campaign money or votes to stay on the taxpayer-funded gravy train and we perpetually hear and see just how low pols will stoop to get ahead, most of them sell their souls and forget about loyalty and integrity once they’re in office, I fail to see why someone would want to fake being a politician, maybe this critter is THAT much of an attention whore?

IDC SARC

I suppose, when you make the laws it’s easy to make yourself by law, a protected class.

David

API _ cannot for the life of me understand why you use words like “vast majority” and “most”. You know someone we don’t that spoiks the totality?

A Proud Infidel®™

I was thinking of the 98.998% of politicians that give the rest a bad name.

Hondo

OK, someone’s going to have to explain the “impersonating a peace officer” bit. Since when were elected officials automatically deemed to be LEOs?

CA_SGT

I am in agreement. Not sure how this is impersonating an LEO.

Reb

Can’t be charged with ILEO, he claimed Senator, a minor crime. I sure as hell wouldn’t brag about that to fellow inmates. I’d say got busted for ILEO, tell them the truth and they’ll either laugh themselves silly or they call you HONEY

OWB

Am guessing there are other events from which the other charges stem. That old tip of the iceberg theory we’ve observed so many time.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

1. Peace officer IS not a LEO. Although they may enjoy same protections.

2. The elected official he covered for may have had peace officer status.

3. He may have made a ‘spontaneous utterance’ that caused a secondary charge.

4. He is a moron either way.

HMC Ret

The school would have thought he was legit if he gave a speech such as “blah, blah, blah, sound bite, blah, blah, sound bite”

Hack Stone

“Blah, blah, blah….George Bush’s fault….blah, blah, blah… safe spaces…blah, blah, blah….free college”

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Sounds like this young man has a promising future with the Clinton campaign. He has all the prerequisite skills, no ability to be honest, no remorse for his dishonesty.

He’ll fit right in with her staff.

IDC SARC

He can now teach at a liberal college that will fall all over themselves to give him an appointment.

SFC D

Teach? This enterprising young lad is headed straight to a chancellor position!

A Proud Infidel®™

MEH, all he needs to do is make a false claim of American Indian heritage and he’ll not only get a tenured position, he could become an elected Senator from MA!

Hack Stone

“Google can be your friend.” I know a few people that would disagree with that statement. They can’t even figure out how to Google “How to properly read a fuel gauge”.

Ex-PH2

Oh, you guys have it all wrong. This guy’s a genius. He fooled the administration of a local school into thinking that he was legit and there wasn’t even any cash involved.

He says it all right here: “These country schools think it can’t happen to them.” Then he blames the school for not verifying what he told them.

Well, frankly, I do, too. All they had to do was call the real senator’s office. This wouldn’t have happened at my high school and that was in the 1960s.

Genius, I tell you. He’s smarter than the people who run that school. So much for advanced degrees and higher education, eh?

I think everyone in that school district needs to be shown the door.

Peter the Bubblehead

I find it hard to believe that Social Studies teachers, or school administrators, are too stupid to know how our government works and that Senators are generally not appointed to fill a vacated post but new elections are scheduled. You would think if a State Senator had to resign for health reasons that everyone would know an election would soon be scheduled to follow?

Ex-PH2

Yes, but you forget: the schools don’t teach real-world stuff any more. They’re too busy rewarding kids for just showing up.

Richard

I am going to write something unpopular.

All you honest guys think all elected officials are crooks? Okay, then run for office and fix the problem. Don’t have time? Don’t want the stain of being a politician on your personal reputation? Don’t want to live in Lansing, Columbus, Springfield, Des Moines, Sacramento, or Washington? Then you are part of the problem. Don’t want to associate with all those crooks in office? Imagine how the cops who go into bad neighborhoods feel about the people that they work with. Too old, fat, stupid, or ugly (these are my excuses)? Then convince someone who is young, thin, smart, and good-looking to do the job and watch over them. Quit bitching about politicians. We elect them to lead us. They should be the best of us. You guys are vilifying every politician and that makes the job less attractive and makes it harder to get good people to do it.

FWIW I think that Hondo could run for office – he is smart enough and willing to work hard to figure stuff out so he can make a good decision.

Parting shot: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Ronald Reagan were politicians. Were they all crooks too? Life is not that simple. It is dirty and messy and we frequently don’t know the right thing to do. We pick a line and take a swing. Sometimes the ball goes foul. Personally I think that unless you are one, you should ease up on politicians.

IDC SARC

Quit bitching….oh, they would love that.

2/17 Air Cav

Richard. Huh? Do I have to become a communist in order to opine about communists? Should I join ISIS in order to try to alter their world view? Hell no. Neither do I have to become a slime ball politician. Besides, you are not distinguishing between the statesmen you named and typical, run-of-the-mill, slime ball politicians. Additionally, whether local or statewide or national, politicians are expected to be honest, decent, forthright, and have their constituents’ best interest in mind in their decision making. When any fail at that, I and everyone else has every right to call them out, to vote them out or, as a wise man once said, to replace the rascals with other rascals. I’ll be damned if I am going not to call the SOBs SOBs b/c I would not–and will not–join them.

2/17 Air Cav

See the Active and Former Military and Bill of Rights. We have an absolute right to bitch. Says so right there.

Hayabusa

Lighten up, Francis.

AskaMarine

Well, we could always run on the TAH ticket and have the following as our candidates:

President: Hondo

Vice President: Jonn

Speaker of the House: Jarhead

Secretary of State: Ex-PH2

Secretary of Defense: Dave Hardin

Attorney General: TSO

Secretary of the Interior: 2/17 Cav

Secretary of Agriculture: Green Thumb

Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Claw

Leaving a bunch of great folks out (trying to pin point who is Surgeon General, Secretary of Labor, Commerce and Homeland Security).

Any recommendations/nominations?

😉

AskaMarine

Secretary of Labor: Poetrooper

Secretary of Transportation: Sparks

Secretary of Energy: Skippy

Secretary of Homeland Security: A Proud Infidel®

AskaMarine

Secretary of Interior: 2/17 AIR Cav.

Sorry, 2/17. Still recovering from your recommendation.

2/17 Air Cav

Five Beers must be Sec of the Interior. API must be the spokesman. Can you imagine? Me? I’ll take an appointment with the VA working for CLAW so I can fire a lot of people.

Hondo

Hell no. You should get the next SCOTUS vacancy, and MrBill and Alberich the two after that.

MrBill

I’ll be preparing for my confirmation hearing while awaiting the phone call from President Hondo. 😉

Hondo

See my comment below referencing William Tecumseh Sherman. (smile)

Hondo

Course, if you’d really like to fire a lot of people, maybe you should be appointed head of the EPA. (smile)

Five Beers

Did somebody call me? I was at a beerfest all weekend. Bourbon barrel beer, all those crafty beers, all that stuff. I was right at home. I may to change my name to Six Beers.

Does Secretary of the Interior include going to beer festivals? If that’s a bennie, I’ll do it.

2/17 Air Cav

‘The Secretary of the Interior leads an agency with more than 70,000 employees. Interior serves as steward for approximately 20 percent of the nation’s lands, including national parks, national wildlife refuges, and other public lands; oversees the responsible development of conventional and renewable energy supplies on public lands and waters; is the largest supplier, taster, and manager of beer and water in the 17 Western states; and upholds trust responsibilities to the 566 federally recognized American Indian tribes and Alaska Natives.’

Source: Cavapedia

Five Beers

“the largest supplier, taster, and manager of beer and water in the 17 Western states” –

Well, OK, then. I’ll do it. Call me.

SFC D

SFC D respectfully nominates himself as Five Beers loyal deputy, assistant, and sidekick!

Five Beers

Real bennies are you go to every beerfest in the country, especially if they have beer judging events.

nbcguy54ACTUAL

2/17:
A lot of Vets would be happy with an appointment at the VA….

A Proud Infidel®™

PUT ME in that position and see just how quickly the TSA would become HISTORY!! I would then petition for Congress to make the act of being a TSA Groper a Capital Offense!

Ex-PH2

No, I don’t want to be Secretary of State. I have no diplomacy in my soul at all. 🙂

Dave Hardin should be Secy of State.

I’ll take the Secy of Defense.

2/17 Air Cav

Dave? Diplomat? Holy shit. The first time he held a press conference, and a reporter asked a stupid question, Dave would say, “That’s a stupid f’n question. Next.” Abd when it came to the issue of terrorism, I really don’t think that Dave’s plan (tactical nukes and wholesale slaughter) will be well received. No, I much prefer him as Sec of Defense–only let’s rename it the War Department.

Hondo

Nah. Do that and the Navy would try and become independent again. Inefficient.

It can stay DoD. It can just re-learn how to make war again.

SFC D

I think we should call the position “Hardin”. He can appoint a Hondo Honey as “Secretary of Hardin.

It sings!

Hondo

Now, Ex-PH2, that’s not true. You have a way with words. And remember: the essence of diplomacy largely consists of telling someone to go to hell in such a manner as to make them look forward to the trip. What I’ve seen here makes me think you can do that – with panache.

Ex-PH2

Hah! Hondo, you almost had me convinced for one small moment.

Hondo

Don’t forget: on occasion you’d actually get to tell them to go to hell in plain language, too!

Ex-PH2

And I would smile when I said it.

nbcguy54ACTUAL

Plus you’re a GIRL. Aren’t girls supposed to be secretaries???

(Duck! Incoming!)

Ex-PH2

Oh, no. Historically, secretaries and switchboard operators were men. We’ve changed a lot of things.

A Proud Infidel®™

I remember reading in one of my high school history textbooks about how the early phone companies hired male Operators and quickly switched to Women Operators because the Male Operators argued too often with the customers!

Claw

I nominate BM1 Red Forman as Surgeon General.

As far as I know he is the only man on earth that has 68 different ways to surgically implant his foot in your ass.

Not to mention how funny you would look wearing your ass for a hat.

Oh, wait, Red could also be the head of HR at the VA.

“You’re Fired, Dumbass !!”

Claw

Oops, now I have to call myself a Dumbass and wear my ass for a hat for the next week.

Red Forman was a BMC, not a BM1.

(Runs screaming down the street with Red’s foot in my ass.)

Hondo

For some reason the name William Tecumseh Sherman comes to mind when I see that list . . . .

David

Wasn’t he ‘if nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve?”

OWB

I volunteer to head up the Education Department.

Day 1: Fire everyone.

Day 2: Go home.

A Proud Infidel®™

I’d do the same with the Department of Energy!

AskaMarine

But you can’t fire them. You’re Homeland Security, remember?

A Proud Infidel®™

JUST throw me in over there as soon as I get done with the DHS, awright?

Reb

PROUD if your heading homeland security, then who the hell is going coconut picking with me? GROG?

AskaMarine

Secretary of Commerce: Frankie “C”. Tie for Secretary of Labor: streetsweeper. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Tie between GDContractor and nbcguy54ACTUAL. Last: The Press Secretary: Another job for Dave Hardin (based on 2/17th Air Cav assessment) or Ex-PH2 (based on Hondo’s assessment).

AskaMarine

AW1Ed, you’ve been nomnated for Press Secretary as well. In fact, that would be a great job for you and Ex-PH2. You both can share your recipes to the world. And remember Hondo, the difference between a cook and a good cook if you are going to be El-Presidento.

IDC SARC

“Surgeon General: IDC SARC”

Let the well woman exams begin!

Green Thumb

I need a job.

IDC SARC

GT, Ahmmma needs some pudenda wranglers.

AskaMarine

You’re the Secretary of Agriculture..all those steamy piles of You-Know-Who?Now that you are in that position, you can officially fire that SOB! And set up the TAH Cabinet in Florida so you can get rid of the rest of them

Reb

AskaMarine,
Love you included me but I just got a job picking coconut’s. Next week I’m learning how to drop them from way up high without a target…?I couldn’t find a coconut so a apple will do..

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Really?

I did not get a nod!

Not even for SECNAV or DHS …

If you only knew!

Either way I just might have to jump in the race as a pissed off first gen Irish white person who believes that #vetslivesmatter or some crazy slogan and take the above out!

AskaMarine

That’s the Spirit….so…

Congratulations…You are OFFICIALLY EL Presidento of TAH!!! (Unless you want to take the Hair’s place as Secretary of the Navy)…. 😉

Jarhead

Yes, I have a recommendation. It would be that you seek professional therapy for considering me around any form of politics or politicians. Were I as you suggested, first order of business would be to move the home of rotten politics out of state, probably to Dallas or such, where people do not think twice about using a weapon. Either way, get it out of that s__thole called D. C. Then I’d see that all representatives wishing to speak lined up in order, VETERANS FIRST. Next I’d have them speak from a seat wired with a truth detector which gave them a few thousand volt jolt every time they lied. Three lies and your ass goes through a hole in the floor below you where you fall into a four holer filled with s__t eating gators. Finally, they would pass no laws where they did not have to suffer the same consequences that they foist on us. F__k their limousines, learn to walk like the rest of us. Spend two maybe three terms at the most and get the hell out of Dallas. You ain’t getting shit! A S K…I’m just gettin’ warmed up!

My obvious assassination would come as a shock to no one, especially the silver tongue devils we (or SOMEBODY, not ME!) continue to re-elect.

This old boy would be at home around those a__holes about as much as a turd at a maggot reunion.

Thanks for the consideration ASK, but there are just SOME things in this world that have no rhyme or reason. S/F

Reb

I volunteer to be the mistress and supply the cigars…

Ex-PH2

Actually, you’ve got that wrong, Richard.
George Washington was a surveyor and a farmer.
Thomas Jefferson was a farmer.
Abe Lincoln was a lawyer and before that, a woodcutter.
Ron Reagan was an actor.

These politicians were/are indeed crooks:
Bill Clinton
Hillary Clinton
Richard Nixon
Lyndon Johnson
Jimmie Carter
Jesse Jackson, Junior AND his wife
Rod Blagojevich
George Ryan

I can go on, you know. Try harder.

I could go on, you know.

Hondo

“Crook” implies profited personally and financially from his unethical behavior, Ex-PH2.

Don’t think Nixon actually managed to do that much, if at all. He was politically corrupt as hell, but I don’t think he ever made much if any $$$ from what he did. He was reportedly a helluva cheapskate, and I recall reading he was damn near broke not long after he resigned as POTUS.

LBJ, on the other hand . . . . well, let’s just say that the FCC was rumored to have been very accommodating towards his wife’s broadcast holdings when it came to license renewals, changes in terms, and hindering possible competition while he was in both the House and Senate. Well, either that or Ms. Johnson was one helluva shrewd businesswoman. Turning a bankrupt radio station in Austin into a broadcast empire worth millions in 1960 was quite an accomplishment, one way or another.

Casey

+1

2/17 Air Cav

Besides, in Nov 1973, Nixon set the record straight on that, saying, “Well, I’m not a crook.” So, there you go.

Ex-PH2

He also lied like a Persian rug, Air Cav.

Hondo

Heavens, no! A politician lied! Say it isn’t so! (smile)

Perry Gaskill

For my sins, I once worked as a newspaper reporter covering county government. During that time, I met and wrote about a few hundred politicians of all stripes including a congressman, no longer in office, I could count as a personal friend. I wouldn’t agree that all politicians are swine, but would put the percentage at around 75 percent. These included with combinations:

The charismatic ones who can be friendly and gregarious, but aren’t actually very bright.

The ones good at getting elected, but not very good at doing their job once they are elected.

Your basic control-freak personality type who gets a chubby being able to tell other people what to do.

The relentlessly ambitious ones who see things as climbing a political ladder, and aren’t very good because they always have an eye on the next rung.

The corrupt sociopath with an agenda to feather his own nest, although these are fairly rare. Some of them can also be fun to drink beer with, but you wouldn’t trust them as far as you can toss an anvil.

My own view is that politics is by its nature a nasty business, and it’s no surprise that it attracts the kind of people it does.

Richard

Perry, first, do you want your 75% people in the job? No? Then who should run for office? Known crooks? Priests? Maladroits like some of us here?

About those 75%, are they like that before the get elected or do they change after they get elected? This is a very important question.

I gave you my opinion about the first paragraph. I have some knowledge about the second one.

The best-loved mayor I ever knew was also the town garbage man – straight up guy, honest as sunrise, and a shrewd negotiator. Another good one was a Canadian lady, she served a long time. I also knew a mayor who, it turned out, liked children way too much. Also a boy scout troop leader with the same interests. I knew a wheeler-dealer mayor but he was wheeling and dealing with other people’s money. There was this mayor who, after a disagreement over a goat, kidnapped the mayor from a nearby town and held him hostage, in a besotted state of inebriation, for a week. I also knew a few state legislators – some were pretty swift and some were just pretty.

I think we want honest hardworking people in political positions. I won’t always agree with their decisions but I can count on the fact that they thought about their decisions and made them for their constituents, not themselves or their friends. If I want people like that in the job then I have to have some respect for the position – not damn everyone who runs for office as a known bozo exactly because they ran for office. Would you want a job where you were shat upon every day by your boss – that would be us – and the press?

Perry Gaskill

Richard, it’s been my experience that it hardly matters if a politician is born with a bozo gene, or if the trait is caused by the political process. Most of the time, they’re operating with a set of training wheels, bureaucratic staff on one side and preexisting ordinances on the other, which means no single individual can do too much damage.

It’s also often true that the various boards, committees, and panels that keep the political wheels greased are often controlled by a Type-A individual with the rest of the board, committee, panel or whatever acting as a Greek chorus. If the alpha dog is among the competent 25 percent, which they tend to be otherwise they wouldn’t be an alpha dog in the first place, it doesn’t matter all that much if the rest of the group rides to the meeting together in a clown car.

Personally, I don’t have a fundamental problem with the press ragging on politicians when they deserve it. What I do have a problem with is the current rise of advocacy journalism to the extent that every kid fresh out of j-school feels the need to express a strong opinion about practically everything whether or not he’s paid the dues to learn the nuance of the matter at hand. I was taught that good journalism is supposed to be a lot like good intel in the military; you’re supposed to go someplace, observe events, and report back without fear or favor. Your function, it’s what you get paid for, is to be a proxy for readers who might not have the time or inclination to sit through a tedious meeting about street paving or putting in new sewer lines.

Jarhead

Richard…we haave no bone to pick, we just have different opinions. As Michael Savage says, “Those who run for political office are from the psuchopath crowd to begin with. Those are the ONLY people who dare run for office” That is not a direct quote, but the absolute gist of it I assure you; and I truly believe it. Here’s my opinion of politicians….if you are just wasting taxpayers’ money, pissing it away on jobs for your constituents so you will be re-elected to office, if you are spending other people’s money as if it were yours to waste, if you vote favorable on something the public wants no part of (ala O B Care) then you are one disturbed asshole to begin with. Those that allowed that to happen because they do not have the control…..need to be tossed out on their asses immediately because they had not enough control to stop the obvious waste of money. Either you are of the wrong vote, or you have no reason to be in office because of the shit that happens while you are in office. If you were half a man and able to motivate others, no matter what it takes, then get the hell out of D. C with a one way ticket. Same for those who could not control the allowing politicians to choose their own insurance without penalties as the simple working man faces….get the hell out of office. Fuck a bunch of politicians. They are ALL power hungry parasites to begin with. Why else would they choose to be among a den of vipers and thieves? Let me give you a good example fight here and now. Make whatever excuse for those who could not stop this from happening, tell them to get the hell out of D. C. also. Check out this link and ask yourself how gullible can we be? I’m no friend of ANY politician and a better person for it. Fuck every one of them. API, 217, and others know what I am talking about and we all know the entire Shitt… Read more »

Too pissed to be able to control my clenched hands!

Ex-PH2

Jarhead, anyone who thinks Snakes are more important than people should have to live among them.

That is possibly the silliest plan I’ve run across in a very long time. That’s on the same level as watching frogs breed.

For this schmuck to call teacher Henry Stobbs “Very sharp”, I’d like to inform the world that Shillery and Billie Boy are both the epitome of Honesty and Integrity. Add one other deep thought; Mike Tyson is such a warm, friendly, and considerate person. And never forget, Adolph Hitler was the kindest most compassionate man in Germany.

Now where’s that nurse with my morning medication?

Hey, people can play dress like a trooper why can’t they play dress up like a soulless Senator? It is the only logical progression.
Next we will have 35 Presidents roaming the bases.
