Joseph Lemm; NYPD detective killed in Afghanistan
Yesterday, Hondo wrote about the six Americans killed in a suicide attack near Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. One of those who were killed was Joseph Lemm, according to Fox News. Lemm has been a New York Police Department detective for 15 years as well as a New York Air National Guardsman. He has deployed twice to Afghanistan and once to Iraq in addition to his duties as a cop.
“Detective Joseph Lemm epitomized the selflessness we can only strive for: putting his country and city first,” Bratton said in a statement. “Tonight, we grieve and we remember this selfless public servant who dedicated his life to protecting others.”
Lemm leaves behind a wife and three children.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack, which targeted a joint NATO-Afghan patrol as it moved through a village near Bagram Airfield, the largest U.S. military facility in Afghanistan. The attacker rammed an explosives-laden motorcycle into the patrol, killing the six Americans and wounding two U.S. troops and an Afghan.
A news broadcast in front of the 50th Precinct where Lemm worked as a detective is decked out in black bunting and the flag in front is at half-staff.

Sad day here in NYC!
NYPD has really been getting hit hard lately–at least four line of duty gunfire deaths since December 2014, and now this. Thoughts and prayers.
And once again, I ask myself, “Self, under the current hippoPOTUS ROEs, why the FUCK are we anywhere overseas?”
The US troops should be able to shot anyone and anything that approaches within a certain radius distance. ANything. But now there is a “Mommy may I” that has to go up and down the CoCmd, and by the time there is an response, it’s too late.
Is this cop the only one of the 6 that has been identified? His is the only name being shown, written about, or talked about so far as I can see. Or was his life the only one worth mentioning by the Mudstream Media?
The others have been identified, another AF Cop and 4 OSI agents.

RIP Detective.
I wish this anti-cop crap stopped. Most of them are just doing something only the military knows the effects of.
First responders are help not targets.
You will be sorely missed Detective Lemm…sorely missed indeed.
Our thoughts are with your family at this time…
Rest Well
Thank you for your sacrifice and service
Salute
🙁
I missed this earlier and then cried when I read it. Many people don’t know that OUR FIRST RESPONDERS are in the Military service.
In just our area we have 68 men and women who went back in. Most were in the reserves. As in the military, when 9-11 happened, they called retired officers, volunteers, even academy cadets back in to help.
RIP, and thank you for….?
