Stephen Gildow; phony Beirut Marine

| December 28, 2014

Stephen Gildow

Scotty sends us his work on the fellow Stephen Gildow who told the story of his time in Beirut when he survived the truck bomb attack on the barracks there on October 23, 1983;

Stephen Gildow in the news

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all have PTSD – they spray us with the virus in Basic Training. Of course, since most of the Marine Corps are Force Recon these days, so was Stevie;

Unless you look at his records;

Stephen Gildow FOIA

Stephen Gildow Assignments

He was out of the Marines for 11 months when Beirut happened, and according to his assignments, he was never anywhere near Beirut. It looks like he was trained as an anti-tank fellow and did some time as an admin clerk, but that’s like Recon, right? Who needs the specialized training? Oh, yeah, he claimed he was in Operation Just Cause, too, but, no, he wasn’t. He claims two Purple Hearts in the article, but, no. he couldn’t be happy with one Humanitarian Service Medal like he earned – he made it two in the article.

After four years in the Marines, he was discharged as a Private First Class, so there was probably some bad behavior towards the end. Well, either that or he missed the career ladder entirely.

Jesus , was the whole First Marine DIvision at that bombing? 😀

1st Marine Division is Camp Pendleton, 2nd Marine Division is Camp Lejeune. So, anyone claiming to have served in Lebanon or Just Cause from Camp Pendleton is full shit, with one exception. Prior to Just Cause, an Amtracker from 1st Marine Division went home on leave to visit his family in Panama. The guys from Camp Lejeune and Ft Bragg wanted to spend their Christmas in a tropical climate, so they decided, what the hell, let’s road trip to Panama. When the invasion force arrived, as a Marine looking for a good fight, he reported to the military, and was attached to them for a period of time. I read that in the base paper, but cannot recall his name.

You tell ’em Hack!!

I remember hearing an old-timer say years ago that if there was a reunion of Khe Sahn vets and it got more than two deep at the bar, somebody was lying. I was too short to go on the deployment to Lebanon, but as a former member of 1/8 it pisses me off to see asshats like this claim to have been there. I was H&S Co, Comm Platoon. Lost 33 over there, verified by Marines that were there. And I know that when it gets more than two deep at the bar on October 23rd, somebody’s lying.

Hack Stone

Did you know Moses Arnold? He was a buddy of mine from Philadelphia, and we went to 2841 school together. He left behind a wife and son.

A Proud Infidel®™

He looks like a life-size version of some old squeezable kid’s toy from the days when I was a “rug rat” or a “Yard ape”, the kind of toy that you’d squeeze and make the eyes bulge out!!!

Andy11M

Case of a perfectly average and Honrable service record being inflated to make up for some self worth issues. Congrats on shitting on every Marine that was really there dildo Gildow.

DevilChief

Mmmm…4 years and a PFC? Got a NJP bust or 2 in there so maybe not so honorable. Makes no sense with the GCM either.

Kinda old ET1

Asswipe.

da kine

And his brother was a Navy Seal, killed during Tet. That one shouldn’t be too hard to disprove.

GDContractor

His brother

Not USN. Did not die during TET. KIA within first month of deployment (click on the link “full profile”).

And he says he worked for Blackwater. Um, yeah OK.

What a lying sack of shit.

Marine_7002

I sent a polite but pointed email to the reporter, asking her to review the documents that are posted here and at Scotty’s page, and follow up.

Will be interesting to see if she does so.

Scotty, THANK YOU for all your hard work in continuing to out these Stolen Valor vultures and assholes.

marty

I ran into this guy during tours for tots and is him last year. I emailed the reported a few times since. She said she would do a stolen Valor piece this past veterans day, but nothing published.

realdealengineer1371

Marty are you near Daytona? Im just south of there 20 minutes.

Hondo

LSoS.

Big Steve

What he did (anti-armor gunner) would be cool enough for most, but not this guy. Midlife crisis, I imagine.
Anyone besides me notice that Camp Lejeune was spelled wrong at the bottom of his DD214?

I have a friend who was an artillery marine in Nam, and he’s been totally taken in by a loser who,… surprise, surprise… claims he was a scout sniper in the Corps, AND was in Beirut during the 83 barracks bombing.

2/17 Air Cav

Did he used to be a woman? That pic has me wondering.

Mustang1LT

Gildow? Really? This is almost too easy…..

🙂

Green Thumb

Word.

B Woodman

Last name that rhymes with a sex toy that starts with the letter “d”?
(Or rhymes close enough for english language purposes).

Mustang1LT

And also rhymes with one of our favorite phony’s nicknames? Come on, this CAN’T be a coincidence!

Mustang1LT

And he’s from FLORIDA?

*Checks calendar*

OK, it’s not April Fool’s Day; what gives?

Green Thumb

William Blake’s bunkmate.

Once again you beat me to it Green Thumb!

When are the papers coming back on his good friend Tom Betty? A 59 year old Vietnam veteran is cutting it pretty thin for someone that served in Vietnam.

marty

Tom Betty… Another phony.

Hack Stone

TOW Gunner Sniper. Talk about the few and the proud.

MSGRetired

Man this seems to be a very common claim. I just had one Jughead who made a bunch of claims very similar. He was Infantry but no Sniper. Dragon Gunner Did 2 Med Cruises. Said he got shot in the head in Beruit etc etc Actually did 3 years went IRR 04 of 83. Had a decent career got out as a Corporal.
Why cant they just be happy to have served…

Scotty

He has a restraining order and a stalking injunction on him from a clinical psychologist and team leader at the Daytona Beach Vet Center.

Volusia County, FL? Hmm. NoW, wHo ElSe Do We KnOw WhO LiVeS iN tHaT aReA?

Sheesh. There must be something in the freaking soil or water there that causes some truly bizarre behavior. That part of FL certainly seems to have more than its share of “teh krazee”.

ArmyATC

The article does state that, “Gildow’s ex-boyfriend told News 13 that Paliani shared confidential information with him.” Could it be just coincidence?

Green Thumb

The soil and water are all jacked up because All-Points Logistics probably has the sanitation contract in the area.

Just saying.

They are right down the road……

Time to play Six Degrees of Not An Honorary CPO.

Dude still has a high and tight lol

Dave Hardin

There wouldnt be any Beirut veterans lurking around these parts would there? Funny thing is I dont see any dive school at Key West where he washed out of pool week. No jump school, mountain warfare school, or any of the other dozen schools one needs to have the Force Recon MOS. Maybe he is doing some kind of survival training for folks. That seems to be popular these days.

Maybe if he goes to visit every one of these men, kisses the ground over them, then sucks the bat shit off the cave walls he crawled out of and publicly kisses my ass……I might forgive him for being less than the rancid shit stain the average goat phuking ISIS clown leaves on their lips after cleaning each other.

http://www.beirut-memorial.org/memory/brtnames.html

HMCS(FMF) ret

Go to Scotty’s link… he did MCI’s on Force Recon. So he’s a “Force Recon” Marine by proxy (did the correspondence courses, but never was in the training pipeline).

Dave Hardin

Oh, well then that changes everything doesnt it. I guess he took the Beirut victim course from Lawton Univ. He can not imagine the amount of phuk I do not give.

Legans

The Marine Corps considers me a Beruit vet (even though I don’t.) I was in Kilo 3/3 on West Pac in 1983 aboard USS Tarawa and we were sent from the Pacific to the Med via the Red Sea and Suez Canal. We sailed off the coast of Beirut for nine days and were sent back to the Pacific to finish that cruise. We did get Marine Corps Expeditionary Medals and a MUC, but only the officers got to go ashore.

Fuck that guy, from an almost Beruit vet.

Dave Hardin

I hope you display those awards with pride Marine. There were a lot of us that spent most of our time on ship. Some that spent most of it ashore. I know Marines that never left 29 Palms during that time, every last one of them would have been on the next ship there if they could have.

I did what I was ordered to, plain and simple. So did you and I am proud to have served with you Marine. Semper Fi.

John "Faker 6" Giduck

We should wait until Degrata Tactical determines if Stephen Gildow is the real deal or not.

http://thetruthaboutsocnetlies.wordpress.com/2013/08/27/degrata-tactical-swears-that-john-giduck-is-the-real-deal/

They clearly got things right in my case, didn’t they?

sincerely

John “Faker 6” Giduck

John

This pisses me off. I lost a high school friend in the Beirut bombing. His name was Ray Page from NC. He was an only child and I have adopted his parents since his death. His dad died recently.

jah

John, I would be interested in speaking with you about Ray Page. I have some photos and names I’m trying to nail down from the C Co 1/8 book.

jah

Is this Ray Page? He is listed as Cpl Connie Ray Page from NC, but assume he went by Ray Page.

Its getting old with these guys and someone who did serve in the Corp should know better and just leave it at that…What a Fk Stick!

Marty

This is the FB conversation I had with this psycho after he found out he was on this blog:

Gildow “wow ,got all my disability back pay from the V.A. and the Marines I am glad you put me on the internet did not know this existed you helped me out . LOL.”

Me “You’re crazy. I don’t care what you think is going on, but I’ll spell it out for you. You are all over every stolen Valor page on the Internet. Anybody who types anything close to Steven Gildow into Google will see nothing but how much of a phony you are. Let that sink in. For the rest of your life, anyone who does 30 seconds of research will know what a piece of shit you are. You’re a disgrace to the Marine Corps and don’t deserve any more of my time. I’ll let the world wide Web take care of you. Semper Fidelis MSgt.”

Ron Jasneski Kilo co. 3rd Bn 3rd Marines

I also was with 3/3 on board the USS Tarawa off shore of Beiruit in 1983, I was a grunt with Kilo co. I felt a lot of betrayal on our part for not being sent back after the bombing and doing what we were trained to do and making Beiruit a ghost town. My heart and prayers go out to every Marine and servicemans families that lost someone that day. All the real heros never came home. Semper Fi
