Aww . . . Aren’t They So Cute When Their Eyes Finally Open?
Vermont is an . . . interesting state. They have some true Communist idiots lost-in-the-past Socialists Progressives in high places there.
Who? Well, like their good Communist self-avowed Socialist Senator, Bernie Sanders. And their highly Progressive Governor, Peter Shumlin.
Shumlin has been advocating a “single payer” medical care system in Vermont for some time. (For those who aren’t fluent in Progressive NewSpeak, that essentially means “government-run Socialized medicine paid for by your taxes”.) It was planned to go into effect in 2017.
However, Shumlin has now thrown in the towel on single payer. It’s not going to happen.
Hey, you don’t suppose the fact that paying for it would have required an 11.5% payroll tax – plus an additional income tax of up to 9.5% – had anything to do with that, do you? Plus the fact that a report prepared for the governor on Vermont’s proposed single payer system indicated that implementing single payer medical care would not save money?
Well, yes – those facts did have something to do with it. Even that good Socialist tool Progressive fella Shumlin finally figured out that simply wasn’t affordable and just wasn’t going to work. Reality smacked him in the head and made him listen – after, unfortunately, much time and many Vermont taxpayer dollars had been wasted.
Took him long enough. Anyone with common sense could have told him that on day one.
Here’s the problem: on the surface, the idea of getting free sh!t sounds great. The problem is that when it comes to real goods and services, “free” . . . doesn’t really exist. One way or another, someone always pays for it. That’s called “basic economics”. That fact is succinctly summarized in the following nine words: “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch”.
And if it’s government-provided “free” sh!t, guess who’s paying for it? Yep – taxpayers. You and me.
Even dyed-in-the-wool Progressives like Shumlin sometimes are forced to acknowledge the above truths. Problem is, sometimes it takes them getting whacked in the head by reality before they acknowledge the truth.

Sadly, no they still look they’ve been beaten with the shit end of the ugly stick.
At least economic reality prevented further stupidity.
The title was meant metaphorically, VOV – not literally.
But they are fun to watch when they get “gobsmacked” by reality – and squirm while desperately looking for a way to avoid the consequences. (smile)
“And if it’s government-provided “free” sh!t, guess who’s paying for it? Yep – taxpayers.”
And if it is an item that has an NSN, you can pretty much count on the govt. paying 5 to 10 X retail. If I ran a business like the government runs theirs, I’d be both broke and incarcerated.
Once upon a time, I worked on some really big bang toys for the gummint. One of the reasons everything the gummint buys is so expensive is due to the requirements the gummint puts on those purchases. Traceability is the biggeest thing, along with the amount of paperwork and time that goes into making even the smallest of changes to the product. The ECO (Engineering Change Order) just to change font size on printing on the product can be 2 feet tall and take 6 months, because drawings of the change, along with explanations for the change, with the accompanied sign-offs take a lot of time and man hours. Nothing the government does is expediant or cheap, when it comes to their purchases or programs.
While I’m in no way a fan of Algore (Manbearpig), he did have the right idea, as VP, in streamlining government purchases of products, tools, etc., that are readily available in the civilian marketplace. The cost savings would be a very good thing.
Thanks Hondo. Isn’t it rather funny that progressive liberals in places like Vermont are all for their wonderful, pie in the sky, progressive ideals until…someone says okay then, now open up your wallets WIDE and off we’ll go. Then, those ideals are not so wonderful, progressive or pie in the sky to them, are they?
Or you have a situation like we have under Obumbles and many other high-tax states: people just say fuck it and either retire, work “under the table”, or move to a state with a less oppressive tax system.
We the people call our man governor Scumlin.
It has a nice ring to it. As for Sanders we pray he will stay in Cuba with his peers.
Can you get Bernie to take Red Karl Levin with him? He’d love Cuber.
Yeah, well my homestate where my family lived for over 200yrs got invaded by turdballs from the south. It’s why I moved away. Finally someone was dragged kicking and screaming into reality in that there is just no money for these socialist dreams. The only problem is that Schumlin is blind to the fact that the reason VT has no jobs is out of control environmental regs killing off industry and taxes driving business out of state. That and he is from way downstate, graduated form that liberal hellhole Wesleyen College and is insane. Sanders is from The Bronx not VT.
I believe it was Margaret Thatcher who said, “The problem with socialism is that you will eventually run out of other people’s money.”
“How do you tell a communist? Well, it’s someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It’s someone who understands Marx and Lenin.” – Ronald Reagan
No matter what ya say about VT, their gun laws are sweeter than yours.

yeah… I never figured that one out…
Ben & Jerry’s, and others probably threatened to jump over to Canada.
