Friday morning feel good stories

| December 5, 2014

Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories this morning, the first is from California;

The incident, the chief said, began when the suspect, whose name wasn’t immediately released, tried to break into a car on the 1100 block of Pine Street.

The suspect turned his attention to a man walking around the corner and hit him with a chair leg while robbing him, Suhr said. He said the victim did not immediately call police, but returned home, got ready for work and then emerged from his home and saw the suspect in Another Cafe at the corner of Pine and Leavenworth.

The suspect was apparently startled, because he allegedly threw a cup of hot coffee on a woman. The man fled — with a barista in pursuit — and went into an apartment building on Leavenworth just as the off-duty police officer was coming out of his residence there, Suhr said.

The suspect tried to rob the officer, who showed his weapon and police credentials and identified himself as an officer, Suhr said. The officer, not believing the suspect had a weapon, decided to take the suspect into custody “hand to hand” and reholstered his weapon, Suhr said.

The two began fighting, at which point the suspect tried to grab the officer’s gun and was shot in the upper body, the chief said.

As the struggle continued, backup officers arrived, but they could not get into the building because of a locked gate. The officer called out the gate code to his colleagues, who rushed in and took the suspect into custody, Suhr said.

The next story is from Missouri;

Police say three men on Tuesday attempted to rob Pooh’s Corner, a popular cop hangout. One of the men, Corey Wade, shot the former officer in the thigh.

Authorities say the ex-officer, who worked for the department in the 1970s, returned fire, shooting Wade in the eye. In 2008, he also shot a would-be robber while working as a bartender at the tavern.

The next story is from Georgia;

Police were called to the home on Ashford Creek Drive for a burglary in progress just before 10:30 a.m. When they arrived, officers found the alleged burglar with a gunshot wound.

According to police, the burglar rang the doorbell several times. When he didn’t get an answer at the door, the burglar forced his way inside the house, only to be met by the resident.

The resident fired one shot, which struck the burglar in the head.

The burglar was taken to a hospital. He was being taken in for surgery at about noon.

(Sigh) You can’t fix stupid … and the stupid is strong in people like the criminals in today’s report.

Hondo

Robbing a popular cop hangout? Yeah, that’s brilliant. Just f**king brilliant.

Too bad the ex-cop took a round. Hope he heals quickly.

Sparks

Hondo…That’s why I know these thug, punk ass holes were never in the military. They never know their AO. They never do intel recon before the assault. Might as well be in Iraq, walk alone into an ISIS enclave smoke shop and ask for a pack of Marlboros and a Bic lighter.

UpNorth

Sparks, recon probably wouldn’t have done them any good. In a cop bar, it would be just like the movies, they’d walk in the bar and all conversation would stop, and everyone would turn to look at them. Much like this commercial. http://youtu.be/vo2UxYZalT0
