Don’t worry, Rob Howard, we won’t
For some reason, Rob Howard, a former Navy nuke, according to him from 1982 to 1996, doesn’t want us to thank him for his service. No prob, Rob, we won’t. If he’d left it there I’d be fine with it, but of course, being a blow-hard Leftist, he couldn’t;
Another opportunity for the blind, gullible, obedient people of the Empire to spew forth their patriotic slogans and go up to veterans and say, in a robotic manner, “Thank you for your service to our country”. These are the same people that will then go home and numb themselves with beer, sports and reality television so they don’t have to face the fact that they are slaves in a corrupt system.
[…]
I have a confession. I have failed this nation. So have my fellow veterans, and all of those currently serving in the military. When I enlisted, I took the standard oath, swearing to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Instead, I not only allowed the billionaires and corporations that wish to pervert the Constitution for their own ends, or to eliminate it completely, to march in and take control, I helped them do it. I blindly believed what I was told. I parroted the patriotic slogans I was taught. I obediently voted in the way that the political machine instructed me to vote, helping to perpetuate the lie of the two party system. I assisted the domestic enemies of truth and justice to insinuate themselves into the highest levels of government.
Wait a second, dingus, don’t bring me into your little diatribe against common sense. Now, Rob, here, claims to be disabled from his service, so I’m guessing that he takes a disability check every month from the “Empire” and I’m also guessing that you couldn’t pry a nickle from that check out of Rob’s grubby paws with a crowbar.
You want to do something on Veterans Day for me and my millions of fellow veterans? Join me in waking up and taking action to end the insanity before another generation is sacrificed on the wheels of the war machine. Let’s turn off the mainstream media political propaganda channels and open our eyes to see what is really going on. Let’s stop supporting the two party political system, and instead seek alternative candidates who will actually act as representatives of We, the People. Let’s speak up and speak out when we see injustice, and actively work to end suffering.
If you want to do something on Veterans’ Day, Rob, how about you pretend to speak for yourself and keep the rest of us out your stupid rants. Go overthrow the government all by yourself. I wouldn’t join you in line at Starbucks, let alone in a revolution. I’ve never expected anyone to thank me for my service, and I’m pretty sure that Rob, here, expects you to thank him for his service so he can pretend like he doesn’t appreciate your well-wishes.
Thanks to DefendUSA for the link. She responded to his little missive, but it got deleted, but not before she saved it;
I call you a coward, Mr. Howard. I served in the same era you did. I did it because I wanted to. Sure I had fringe benefits-traveling, money for college, training in a great job. Did FTX’s suck? Sure. Were some of the rules shitty? You betcha. Could I have gone to war?Yes. I signed on the dotted line knowing there were no guarantees in life. Medical and dental care? Yep. How about a nice place to sleep? uh-huh.
And you served 14 years before you got out of such a shitty job, or maybe it took you that long to figure out what to be when you grew up? Wow. And now the rest of us are failures because you say so? Put your money where your mouth is, Mr. Howard. Send back that disability check and pay for yourself. Stand behind your convictions and don’t take the evil, imperious military industrial complex’s money.
Oh, I know. You’re going to tell me you “earned” it, you deserve it. You don’t speak for me and probably not for the veterans I served with. I’d like to be in your shoes for 15 minutes so that I can blame all the ills of the world on the M.I.C. and the evil USA.
Have you been to a communist country? Go, try to get in. Have you been to a socialist country? Go there and stay. You. don’t. speak. for. me. ***And it just occurred to me, that had you not had a physical disability, you would have retired because you were first and foremost a coward. You don’t understand what freedom is as you shit on veterans past and present. Denigrate yourself. leave the rest of us out.

Just to clarify, this is NOT me! Lol. This asshat is giving us NUCs a bad name.
No shit.
But I bet he was fun to spin up.
Ha, we all had someone like this on the boat to mess with… Pull the cord and watch him spin!
Had a Howard on my first ship in 88, total dumbass we used a lot of duct tape on him
I remember one time howie (we called him “howie the duck”) was berthing PO. Turned the corner to my pit and there was howie taped up like a mummy with a sign on his chest saying “Gear adrift this M$@&erF%€£er”
This douchebag doesn’t speak for me either. The country I served was guided by a Constitution, not an industrial corporation. I put my name and life on the line for all Americans, not just the ones I agree with. While I only desire respect, dignity, and courtesy from the people I lost my sanity for, I definitely don’t mind being thanked, as long as it’s not done as worship or veneration.
You know, I would fall over laughing if it turned out that this douche canoe was a phony. One can only hope. But seriously, all of these idiotic ramblings right around Veteran’s Day just chaps my hide. Aw, screw it. I’ll be home soon enough and I’ll get to see my wife, kids, and dogs, eat some real food, and maybe even drink an ice cold Veteran’s Lager. I know it’s a shameless plug, but it is good beer and now available in Minnesota, Doc Savage!
If he’s pretending to be a nuke, that’d be a first.
So there I was, with the reactor close to melting down. The rest of the crew in the reactor space had already died from the radiation. The control rods mechanism was jammed, preventing the reactor from scramming. There wasn’t time to go get any tools, so I used my schlong to club the mechanism back into operation. I saved the ship and the crew and was a hero. I can’t go into any other details because it’s all classified. But I hope that answers your question as to why I have a nut sack growing on my chin.
(sigh) So quickly they forget, Jonn.
Not a first, NHSparky:

(smile)
Why the actual fuck would you fake being a nuke?
What a douche.
Shit pickle.
“Instead, I not only allowed the billionaires and corporations that wish to pervert the Constitution for their own ends, or to eliminate it completely, to march in and take control, I helped them do it.”
WTF is that? What did I miss? Did Microsoft or General Electric alter the Constitution when I wasn’t looking? Is there a new corporate amendment process that sneaked by me? Perhaps it’s more subtle, that there are Chase Bank officers who are ghost writing Supreme Court and Federal appeals court decisions. A little help here. WTF is he talking about? Anybody?
He’s prolly talking about the Citizens United ruling. Which doesn’t even fckin’ pertain to the constitution. This guy’s gotta be 12 kinds of retarded.
*Counts on fingers*
OK, that’s 10…..
*Takes off boot and sock*
Um, yep….
Actually, cyb, I count 14.
*Puts on sock and boot*
DefendUSA, Thank you for your reply to him. Well said.
What an ass hole. As others have said, speak for yourself dipshit, you have nothing in common with me or my military service.
Wait a damn mniute slick. You don’t speak ffor anyone but yourself. Quit watching the Wall video by Pink Floyd when you’re high dumbass. And finally, go fuck yourself, repeatedly, with a pineapple.
Douchebag
Compared to what the libtards have done regarding destroying our US Constitution, corporations have actually done very little, and when corporations do get involved with destroying our rights, it always seems that they give a lot of damn money to the left wing organizations that are out to destroy the Constitution, not preserve or defend it.
This douchenozzle hung around the reactor too long. His brain got scrammed.
What brain?
” Let’s stop supporting the two party political system, and instead seek alternative candidates”. Like Adam Kokesh? Yeah, this guy radiate his 3 brain cells, what’s left ain’t pretty.
Damn phone, it should have been “radiated”.
Dis here-ah mofo doesn’t speak for me. And, if he’s tryin’, I’ma knock his ass out. Fuck him and his mama and the whore they rode in on…
What a self-serving shitbag.
He seems very “special”.
“President Dwight David Eisenhower, himself a decorated war hero, warned the American people in his farewell address in 1960 to beware the Military-Industrial Complex.”
I like that. I mean, I realize the guy claims to have been Navy but, still, it would have been nice if he did a tad of reading before he started writing. Ike was a was hero? I didn’t know that. He was many things in uniform but a decorated war hero wasn’t one of them. And, as for that warning that Ike issued as president, he did no such thing. The left has misconstrued this for years. In fact, before he mentioned that term, military industrial complex, Ike said this in that speech: “This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development.” Let me repeat the words conveniently overlooked by the left:” We recognize the imperative need for this development.” So, Rob Whatever may or may not have dedicated 14 years of his life in service. If so, he may or may have been a nuke, and he may or may not have left the Navy because of a disability he developed. But one thing I do know: He can’t write worth a shit and he understands little of this nation or its history.
Aw, shoot, AC. There ya go, injecting fact and reality into the conversation. The lefties have no concern for truth. In fact, they would rather lie than tell the truth even when telling the truth would be easier.
Full text of original speech: http://www.eisenhower.archives.gov/research/online_documents/farewell_address/Reading_Copy.pdf
Awards and medals: http://www.eisenhower.archives.gov/all_about_ike/awards_medals.html
Bio: http://www.eisenhower.archives.gov/all_about_ike/awards_medals.html (includes the term “hero’s welcome.”)
declined: you might want to do a bit more homework on Eisenhower.
Eisenhower was apparently under fire precisely once in his career – and his conduct then was hardly what anyone would call heroic. While visiting the troops in Normandy, his party was strafed by a German aircraft. Like everyone else, Eisenhower “hit the dirt” looking for cover.
A quick inspection of Eisenhower’s military decorations bears that out. Every one of them is for service. There are zero decorations for valor or heroism among them. Since he got shot at personally precisely once, that’s apropos.
Eisenhower was IMO one of our most effective Presidents, and is hugely underrated on that account. He was also a helluva military leader, and was precisely the personality needed to manage the Allied effort in the Med and, later, the ETO. But he was hardly a “hero” in the military sense of the word.
Addendum to previous:
1. A bio presumably prepared by a fawning staffer is hardly unbiased or guaranteed to be accurate in its assessment of the individual. Similarly, receiving a “hero’s welcome” hardly ensures that the individual concerned actually was a hero.
2. 2/17 Air Cav is accurate above. Eisenhower clearly said that the US “military industrial complex” (his term) that had arisen since World War II was both unprecedented and was brought about by imperative need. In other words – it was necessary. His speech warned against going overboard. Since we spend roughly 1/2 as much now, proportionally, of the Federal budget today on defense as we did in Eisenhower’s time, I’m willing to go out on a limb and assert we’ve not gone overboard in that respect.
You also noticed Eisenhower warned against letting “scientific/technological elite” dominate national policy-making, right? That is precisely what JFK and LBJ did to get us into Vietnam by stealth and “on the cheap” (or so they thought). That is, they listened to MacNamara and his “happy little hot-dogs” vice professional military personnel. They demanded quantifiable “measures of progress” – which gave us “body counts” and “electronic fences” and Barrel Roll/Rolling Thunder, none of which worked worth a damn.
Try again, sonny. This time, I suggest you do some real homework and put some actual thought into the process of crafting your argument. Maybe then it won’t be laughably superficial.
Oh, and another thing. Rob Whatever says, “I served for almost 14 years, until I was diagnosed with a physical disability that rendered me no longer fit for active service.” I realize Rob Whatever is a lousy writer but, even so, that’s a curious way to put a medical discharge, don’t you think? It really prompts more questions than it answers, doesn’t it? (Snort. Snort)
Has anyone verified that this person actually served, as stated? His screed sounds like one of the “listeners” that call in to a conservative talk show and say “I am a lifelong republican, but I am voting dem this time because they are so awesome! (talking points and kool-ade sharing continues here…)”
He just sounds so over-the-top, like a sock-puppet for CPUSA.
No. He says so and that’s about it. However, that “nearly 14 years” business and the strange way he avoided spelling out why the Navy hit the eject button on him, suggest he just might be a Vet.
If anyone can come up with full name (first/middle/last), DOB, and POB on this toolbox, I’d be happy to file a FOIA on the “fine fellow”. SSN also works in place of the DOB and POB.
Not that I speak for everyone, but the words we may be looking for are “Rob who?”.
Just saying…
Who knew the most ardent supporters of the U.S. Constitution are Communists that don’t like free enterprise or property rights. The irony here being this delusional shrew is the domestic enemy he thinks he isn’t.
The circus is in town and I think we’ve met the ring master.
Nice rebuttal, Hondo. My turn:
Ike, as I said above, was many things in uniform but war hero was not among them. And I have no doubt whatsoever that if called a war hero to his face, Eisenhower would laugh heartily. He might then detail his experiences in the Army, from West Point graduation in 1915, to his Fort Sam Houston assignment with the 19th Infantry, and then on to Pennsylvania for duty with the tank corps in 1918. He might mention his other stateside assignments in the years leading up to WW II and even his DSC (rec’d for tank corps development) and point out that he, unlike many of his peers and subordinates, never made it to the war to end all wars. He would certainly recount his years in the Philippines with MacArthur, but that was in the 1930s and the islands were peaceful then; that those years were followed by staff positions stateside in the early 40s. He would say that never fired a shot other than on a range, and didn’t spend an hour in a foxhole, peacefully or otherwise. Lastly, he would point out of the medals he received, many from foreign dignitaries, not a single one was for action in battle, let alone for heroism or valor. And then—ever the gentleman—Ike might politely say, “Now, let me show you to the door, son.”
Unlike Rob Whatever, Ike knew who the war heroes were. And so do we.
