Wednesday morning feel good stories

| November 5, 2014

Chief Tango sends us our feel good story this morning involving an of duty Houston cop conducting business for his other job;

Harris County officials say an off-duty Pct. 7 constable deputy’s family owns the eatery and he was there to make a bank run when he was confronted by several would-be robbers. Officials say one of the suspects allegedly hit the deputy several times with a crescent wrench, and that’s when the officer opened fire. A suspect was shot several times.

The officer was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital for treatment. He’s been with the department since 2009 and works in the warrant division.

The suspects fled, but a short time later, the injured one arrived at Methodist Hospital in the Willowbrook area.

And another one from Texas;

The homeowner told police that a burglar entered his home on the 2200 block of 71st Street and appeared to be stealing beer out of the fridge, so the homeowner grabbed his pistol and yelled “don’t move,” according to police officials.

The homeowner told police he saw the intruder grab for something, so he fired a shot. The intruder dropped an orange plastic bucket he brought to the house and fled.

Officers found no sign that the suspect had been hit and believe the shot missed the intruder.

And yet another one from Ohio;

The masked man came into the building holding a large knife and pointed it at the clerk, who backed up into a counter where the gun was located, according to police reports. The 44-year-old store clerk told police she grabbed the gun and pointed it at the man and he leaned toward her again with the knife before running out of the store.

The clerk said she fired the gun at the man, fearing he would come back for her, according to the report.

Lancaster police searched the area and found a man in an alley within 150 yards of the store. Upon further investigation, police discovered the man had two outstanding bench warrants and arrested him.

More range time – otherwise, happy endings.

More range time for sure, but my disappointment was offset by the election results last night.

I can just hear the followup conversation from the second incident:

And Jake, ya lost the bucket too!? That was our bait bucket. Our ONLY bucket!”
“Jake, yer a loser douchbag!”

More range time and bigger calibers.
