Donald J. Lacasky; phony busted in death

| September 3, 2014

Donald Lacasky

Scotty and Green Beret Posers Exposed send us their work on Donald J. Lacasky, who passed on May of last year. In life, he claimed to be Special Forces and he rode with the New Milford, CT Minutemen Riders motorcycle club.

According to Scottie, his father and sister begged him to stop being a poser, but he never listened. In death, his wife went searching for a DD214 for a military funeral, but;

How’d he die?

Pete Spagnolo

Don died of heart failure. Many of us speculate that the guilt he must have felt for lying to so many for so long finally did him in.

nbcguy54

Another “victimless” crime.

MGySgtRet.

Just really sad. Looks like it tore this family apart. Father, sister and now his wife and most likely his children. Looks like the guy did a lot of good in his community and he has wrecked all of that with his lies. Scout Leader, coached youth sports. Wonder how many kids he has lied to. Wonder how they are feeling about him right now. What a goddamn mess.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

So his wife’s lasting memory as she tried to bury her husband will be the memory that everything he told her was bullshit…..

She will wonder what else he lied about while they were married and she will never think of him the same.

The stain of these lies can never be washed from her memory, what kind of narcissistic, selfish prick do you have to be to perpetrate this on the people you supposedly love above all others?

TacticalTrunkMonkey

My thoughts exactly. I really feel sorry for her.

streetsweeper

Helluva way to find out, my condolences to the widow and family.

Green Thumb

I wonder if WWP kept the donations?

Green Thumb

Probably.

AverageNCO

Oh look, another softball player with pictures taken at a slow-pitch tournament.

rb325th

What a dickhead. Sorry for his wife.

Anonymous in Jax

He was pretty young– only 50. I’d be interested to know what caused his death. This situation is a real shame. It sounds like maybe he was a decent guy, so why did he have to lie about being in the Army?

Steve

His wife isn’t guilt free. She held a fund raiser after he died claiming his veteran status. I talked to get on the phone asking she remove her of him being a veteran. She refused stating that she needed the money.
If she had done that, we probably world have left dead Don alone.
It was her fund raiser that had a lot to do with this turd being outed.

ArmyATC

So she doubled down on his lies for money? In my mind, that makes her no better than he was.

Take back what I said about feeling sorry for her.

TacticalTrunkMonkey

Me too.

And some claim that stolen valor is a victimless crime. His family will be forever scarred by his lies. That’s probably about all they’ll remember about him.

Makes me want to never wear my Mark Bavaro jersey again.

Green Thumb

Not a big Giants fan, but MB was a very UNDERATED Tight End.

Tough and could block and catch.

Something I just thought of. With all of the FOIA requests coming back with nothing found, I wonder if it is possible, that like all other Federal jobs, perhaps the NPRC has someone working for them that claims to check, but in reality is to lazy to actually look and then just sends the negative form letter out.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Well that would be an entertaining outcome….

Just an Old Dog

There have been two guys busted here that have had negative responses back from National Records James Manse Towery and Pedro ( Peter) Lawler.
They both served but embellished the hel out of their records.
Pinhead William Blake probably served too, but he got back a negative response.

Sarasnipe

Maybe it would be prudent to send request about known legitimate vets to test the veracity & thoroughness of the FOIA. Which on was the widow?

nbcguy54

Just for grins, I sent off for mine a while back. Got copies of all of my reup documents and orders for my second GCM.
Kinda slim pickins for 9 1/2 years NG and 15 years active (1980-2004) which included 14 different units, 3 overseas tours, 2 MOSs and more than just a second GCM.
I’ve wondered too about the accuracy and completeness of what they send back. Of course, most of the posers out there claim shit that isn’t remotely possible, but still I do occasionally wonder…

Sapper3307

Must have lost his records in the fire in St Louse.

Hayabusa

Either that, or all his records are “classified”…

19D1OR4 - Smitty

Probably the classified, records fire. Shhh no one is supposed to know about that one. Quick tell everyone.

Hayabusa

Gee, another “motorcycle club” phony with fake badges and tabs and unit patches festooned all over his Freddy Mercury-esque little leather vest…

Color me shocked.

Green Thumb

I wonder if that “MC” in Florida participated in the funeral?

A serious amount in common they had.

Hayabusa

Do you mean that motorcycle club of which PHIL MONKRESS is a member?

Is that the motorcycle club to which you refer?

Marcus Riley

Well, I do feel sorry for his wife, when you need the money I can understand it. I’m not sure how many on here are just for the put downs or really want to get things right. I do remember that when I got back from RVN that the US had changed and I had too. Almost all my friends back then were Viet Nam veterans as we all hung together. There were always “PX” heros and “drugstore” cowboys. The internet and the 24/7 news cycle though makes it easier to bust them. BTW After 18 months in RVN my DD214 only shows a national defense medal. A big difference from my original DD214 from 1972.
