Israel rejects ceasefire proposal
Agency France Press reports that Israel has rejected the temporary ceasefire proposal thrown together by John Kerry today.
Kerry’s proposal reportedly involved an initial truce to be followed by negotiations on a final deal by delegations from all the parties.
Hamas, the main power in Gaza, previously rejected an initial ceasefire proposal, demanding a full settlement before it stopped shooting, but international mediation efforts have gathered pace in the past few days.
Kerry, who spent another night in Cairo reaching out by telephone to regional officials, met Ban and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri for around half an hour.
Yeah, those temporary ceasefires always work so well. For Hamas. Israel ceases firing and Hamas continues. What AFP didn’t put in their report is that part of the permanent agreement was that Israel had to open their blockade of Gaza – you know, so those homicide bombers can get to their victims easier. Also, Israel is finding more tunnels and those tunnels are more sophisticated than they thought at first and they don’t want to stop destroying those tunnels.
So basically, Kerry and the UN wanted to turn back the clock and open up Israelis to more attacks from Hamas. From Reuters;
Hamas, which wants an end to an Israeli-Egyptian blockade of Gaza before agreeing to halt hostilities, has yet to respond to the ceasefire proposition, which has not been made public.
The Israeli source, who declined to be named, said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet had turned down the plan because it did not let Israel carry on hunting down Hamas’s tunnel network that criss-crosses the Gaza border.
“Kerry’s proposal leans (too much) towards Hamas’s demands,” said the source.
So, I’m shocked that Kerry is failing, because he’s been so successful with everything he’s done up until now. Oh, wait….

Not only did the U.N. hand over rockets it found stored in a school to Hamas, but the money that went into building those sophisticated tunnels came from the U.N. for the Palestinian Authority (under Hamas) to build schools. So, the U.N. is handing Hamas money and rockets. It’s no wonder that they now want Israel to stop defending themselves so much.
Not to mention all the “aid” the U.S. gave them.

Maybe Kerry would get a better perspective if he’d plant his patent leathers — with him in them — in either Israel or Gaza, and SEE FOR HIMSELF what is going on. You know, actually wade through the mess and establish some facts, instead of relying on an international version of “he said, she said.”

Kerry already got his “combat” photo op forty-odd years ago (God knows he’s been milking that bitch for all it’s worth ever since). Why would he bother going near (relatively speaking) danger again? What if it’s a hot day? What if they don’t have his favorite booze immediately on hand? What if he has to wipe his ass in a public restroom??!! For the love of God, he could be in danger!!!!
Your problem is that you are clearly thinking of what an intelligent and humble man would do if he really wanted to make real progress over there. Absolutely none of those words apply to John “Ketchup King” Kerry (did you know he was in Vietnam?). No, he’ll enjoy a nice little vacation far away from the violence–all at taxpayer expense, of course–and then come back and tell us all about how the plight of the poor, poor Palestinians is “seared into his brain.”
Kerry? Isn’t he the guy who tossed his self awarded Vietnam medals over the WH fence as a war protest?

I am an Honorary Jew and have been for many years. If things were so bad and I was asked I would fight for Israel in a NY minute. For the following reasons: 1. They are well equipped. 2. They are fighting terrorists. 3. They are an ally. 4. They are the only democracy in the region. 5. IDF woman are friggin’ smokin’ hot!

I was actually deployed to Israel on a training mission in 2001. I don’t remember the exact details behind it, but my job was to bring a company up to speed with the M4. Due to a paperwork snafu, I was assigned to a female Infantry company (yeah, they have them).
First, even though I was fresh out of BCT and AIT, I got my ass handed to me for the first two months during PT with the woman. Mind you, before enlisting, I was a gym rat and floor trainer.
Second, I’ve hung our with some high speed Marines in and out of uniform. Compared to the discipline of the IDF, Marines are a group of cub scouts who missed nap time. This isn’t an insult to the Marines, just telling it like I saw it.
Third, I have never seen a better group of fighters in a combat environment in my life. I saw a sniper make about a 400 meter shot with iron sights to hit a mortar round on a vest.
Finally, to add to what MCPO said, there is nothing quite as hot as a smoking IDF military woman. They are even hotter when they are in civies with a rifle slung across their back.
Odd what happens when your surrounded by goatherders that want to massacre every man, women and child then destroy your country. You train like your very existence depends on it because it does

Wasn’t the Gaza Strip handed to the Paleoswinians in some United Nothing or demorat-brokered piss (*OOPS!*, peace) agreement with Israel? No sooner than they took it, they turned it into the kind of filthy third world pisshole they’re acclimated to and they started shooting at Israel from there. I’ve had less than zero empathy or pity for the Paleoswinians since I saw the footage of them Dancing and partying to celebrate 9/11. The only reason the Paleozwinians want a cease fire is so they can resupply and rearm without the Israelis shooting back at them!!
