Israel invasion continues

Washington Post Israel

The above screenshot is from the front page of the Washington Post’s webpage. I guess it’s for the majority of the low-information readers of the Post who just read the front page headlines. But reading the articles gives a different story of the second day of the incursion by the Israel Defense Force into Gaza;

In one incident, the militants strapped a donkey with explosives and pushed it in the direction of Israeli soldiers, said Israel’s military, adding in a statement that soldiers “engaged the donkey and it exploded at a safe distance” without injuring any troops.

Even as Israeli ground forces targeted Hamas’s tunnel networks inside Gaza — their main stated objective — Islamist militants tried to infiltrate Israel early Saturday through a tunnel in central Gaza, Israel’s military said.

The apparent target was an Israeli community on the Gazan border. The militants, Israel’s military said, encountered an Israeli army patrol and fired an anti-tank missile and machine guns at the forces.

This video from the IDF shows one destruction of a tunnel;

Fox News says that Ban Ki-Moon, the UN General Secretary is on his way to observe the situation there. I know know how well he’ll be able to see it from a hotel conference room, but…

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will leave Saturday for the Middle East to help end the conflict, the U.N. political chief said Friday.

At an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting, Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman said a cease-fire is “indispensable.” But the only way to make it stick is for the international community to “assume its responsibility to urgently help restore a serious prospect for a two-state solution that brings an end to the decades-long conflict and occupation,” he said.

What “decades-long occupation”? Didn’t the UN sanction the settlement of Jews in Israel when they broke up the British Mandate (Resolution 181(II))?

From the Post;

The United Nations estimates that roughly 80 percent of the casualties are civilians, many of them children. Tens of thousands of Palestinians are seeking refuge in U.N. shelters.

They should try and convince Hamas to stop hiding behind civilians. The IDF has been trying to avoid civilian casualties, but you know, when Hamas even drafts donkeys into their ranks, it hard to avoid non-combatants.

As soon as I read that many or most of the casualties in a military action are children, I’m pretty much done with the report. And I loved the account of the failed suicide donkey attack. That ought to rile PETA and if there is one group whose wrath you do not want to incur, it’s PETA’s.

Climb to Glory

That is a really sophisticated piece of hardware right there. Anybody that’s been around donkeys knows that. Gotta love those peaceful noble savages.

Alberich

Did they get their inspiration from Iowahawk?

cato

As for me and mine, we stand with Israel.

At the same time obama supports, funds and stands with islamic terrorists.

Sparks

cato…Add my vote to yours.

UpNorth

It’s easy for Hamas to say that the casualties are civilians, Hamas wears no uniforms. So, they’re all civilians.
I’m waiting on one of the geniuses on the LSM to complain that Israel has all the tanks, artillery and fighter jets.

Point. Game. Match. Nice.

Ex-PH2

I’m with Israel and IDF.

If Hamas/AQ/Taliban/ISIS/ISIL/whatever ever decides to stop killing things in general, someone please let me know.

Good article on the tunnel warfare aspect of the current operation from the Times of Israel-http://www.timesofisrael.com/the-treacherous-task-of-tunnel-demolition/

The UN is a useless as tits on a boar hog. They talk a good story but it always seems to come out in favor of anything anti Israeli. Seems I remember Israel invoked a unilateral cease fire and Hamas used it to their advantage to continue rocket and tunnel attacks. If the Palestinians want peace, then the next time a Hamas guy is hiding in plain sight in front of them, shoot him in the back of the head. Do that to enough of them and they will have to hide from their own. Problem is, the Palestinian people are cheering them on. Men, women and children and they are allowing those men women and children to engage in the covert operations of the Hamas organization, either hiding them or aiding them in some way. When you lend support to a terrorist and cheer them on from your front porch it’s hard to complain when bullets, rockets and tank rounds come your way. I would expect the same if I were a Palestinian. But they count on Israel, like America to avoid civilians and thus use them as shields. Yet complain when some of their shields are shattered. It is quite logical to me. But to the ill informed and liberal left it is illogical and in their heads ever tank should be the equivalent of a sniper and only get the one guy in the crowd they are shooting at. On the other side, if Hamas infiltrates via overland or tunnels into Israel, civilians are in open season. That somehow misses the big media stories. You know, the CNN types who call Israel “scum” for defending themselves. This will not end well. It will not end well for the Palestinians. If Obama has any sense of leadership left, he will support Israel’s efforts to defend themselves instead of putting out worthless comments like, “try to avoid civilian casualties”. I am fed up with terrorists of any religion or flavor. I am tired of trying to reason with a rabid dog not to bite me or my friends. Reason… Read more »

Nicely put.

‘If Obama has any sense of leadership left’ — (heavy sigh)

Sparks, how many times I gotta tellya date bodaprez never had any sense of leadership to begin with? He’s good at two things: looking good in a suit, and raising money. That’s it. He can’t even play a decent game of golf.

Do I think this can happen here? Uh, have you seen ‘Purge’ or ‘Purge: Anarchy’, the sequel? What do you think those flash mobs are, practice for running a marathon? Chicago isn’t the only city with driveby shootings going on, you know. I just don’t pay attention to some place, unless I used to live there.

Can it happen here? Damn straight it can. And who will come running to you for protection when it does?

Hondo

Um, Sparks . . . teats on a boar hog aren’t entirely useless. See “Exhibitors and Eligibility” on the first page of

(smile)

Sparks

Thanks Hondo, but in old North Carolina what grand dad taught me was good enough. But compared to Obama…I’ll take teats on a boar hog anyday.

Poor donkey…At least he’s in a better place where he won’t get violently ass raped by his hamas owners.

Blaster

True.

It couldn’t even be a “she” donkey.

They love them some male ass, regardless of species.

OWB

How’s about the UN restore the original boundaries it set up as the sovereign state of Israel? Problem solved.

Grimmy

Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman said a cease-fire is “indefensible.”

Fixed it.

Adirondack Patriot

This is NOT an invasion by Israel. The Gaza Strip is IN Israel, so this is NOT an invasion. The Palestinians live in Gaza and are allowed to have their own government but not their own sovereignty.

FatCircles0311

Good.

Give ’em hell, Israel.
