Steven Mickey Bunker; another VA fraud
MCPO Ret. In TN sends us a link from Myrtle Beach Online about 47-year-old Steven Mickey Bunker who defrauded the Veteran Affairs Department out of thousands of dollars for his phony disability. It’s not clear by reading the story whether he was really a veteran or not so I called the reporter who told me that she believed he had military records from service decades ago.
Steven Mickey Bunker, 47, of Aynor was sentenced Tuesday to serve 24 months in jail, three years of supervised release and to pay $108,489.36 in restitution for veterans benefits he received while claiming he was paralyzed and unable to care for himself, according to a news release.

Federal officials began investigating Bunker after a story in The Sun News was published in which Bunker said he was injured while serving in the military in Iraq. After the story was published, officials with the Department of Veterans Affairs were notified because the newspaper received so much negative feedback indicating that Bunker had made false statements concerning his injuries.
At the time, Bunker was receiving veteran’s disability because he claimed that he was paralyzed and unable to walk, drive, eat or otherwise take care of himself without assistance, according to the release. Bunker’s disability included payment for others to take care of Bunker at his home.
The VA also paid $40,000 for a car adapted to someone without use of their legs. He traded it in for a Hummer. But, of course, the investigation focused on the guns that were purchased for him by his parents (he was a felon). On top of all of that, he was a sex offender who didn’t register with local police.
I guess the VA is too busy denying claims of real disabled vets to check on the phonies. But it was real veterans commenting on his bullshit article that busted him – you guys on your stolen valor patrols.

This pisses me off to no end. You would think that the VA would actually do a little research on these douzhenozzels.
Actual veterans, ones that don’t have grandiose stories or don’t like to talk about what happened to them, are shoved over by the VA in lieu of every Recon Ranger SEAL Pilot that walks through their door.
We are looked at under a microscope and if there is a missing comma in our file, we are told that the VA needs several more months (at least) to investigate. However, some fat retard can claim to be paralyzed and is taken at face value because he told a huge story about how he got paralyzed.
I had to go through five different shrinks, two of which at my own expense (which I didn’t and still don’t have the money for) just to get a service-connected 30%. This guy didn’t even have to see a doc to prove his disability!
Now, pardon me while I go out and punch the frak out of a bag so I don’t hurt someone!
It seems like they do eventually catch these ass clowns. I am still waiting on the hammer to drop on William Derek Church the Rotund Ranger!

I have a nightstand that looks more like a pharmacy at this point, all due to service connected injuries and associated medical conditions. I am not even as bad off as so many others… and this kind of bullshit just pisses me off to no end!!

So it didn’t occur to anyone to actually have him come in to a VA hospital to determine if he was paralyzed?

One of the things the New Sec of VA can do is make sure that frauds like this are hammered to the cross.
They need minimum sentences of at least 1 year for every year they got over, plus additiional consideration for stricter sentencing if they got home care or equiptment they didnt need,
At least he’ll have a couple of “big soft pillows” for the guys he’s in jail with. They like that. Plus being a sex offender will make him a special kind of guy inside. He should have done the whole 5 year bit inside instead of supervised release.
Someone(s) had to sign off on that guy’s “disability”.
If someone(s) else were to dig into the someone(s) who did that signing off, dollars to donuts there’s an imprison-able pattern.

BREAKING NEWS – NYC: So speaking of VA and military fraud, I just returned to NYC. I flew out of Portland at about 1200.
I was never in Seattle.
I spent the better part of 3 full days, morning through each evening, working on the plan. The plan is solid and in strict compliance with federal, state, county and local law.
The Florida issue … That is a joke and a felony.
It sure does suck to be some these days!
